Saab 2000 Braathens Regional Take Off at Bern Airport - Nice Turboprop Sounds!

- Saab 2000 of Braathens Regional takes off at Bern Airport in Switzerland. This was a charter flight to Gothenburg, Sweden. On board this twin turboprop aircraft was the BK Häcken football team who played against FC Thun.
In January 2013, the Swedish regional carrier Golden Air changed its name to Braathens Regional. So you can see the new brand.
The Saab 2000 is a regional aircraft, Swedish-built, carries 50 passengers and is one of the fastest turboprop airliners. Its high cruise speed is near jet speed at 680 km/h what gave the Saab 2000 the nickname "Concordino". This turboprop regional airliner is powered by two Rolls-Royce Allison AE 2100A turboprop engines, each driving a six-bladed propeller.

As a pilot, my favorite turbo-prop commercial aircraft. Beautifully designed plane!
I would like to fly with it. Many years ago I flew with a Saab 340, and the 2000 is basically a stretched 340 with more than twice the horsepower. So it goes much faster.
Summer 1993 I travelled with a Saab 340. This is like a longer and faster version of it.
I never stop to be fascinated of propellers.
The sound of a turboprop is beautiful. This video gives a feeling of the power this airplane has and it has a very nice design as well.
I have not yet flown with Saab 2000 but I hope I can do it some day.

Can you tell me why is the horizontal stabilizer so much V-shaped?
@@THYB737 that v-shape is called a dihedral. It helps with stability
@E H That is not the reason. The acute dihedral is to get the horizontal stabilizer out of the prop wash for better efficiency, speed, and sound levels.

@@eh4822 Dihedral is for the main wing.
It allows the plane to naturally return to a neutral horizontal attitude.
I suspect the elevators have such a sharp inclination to avoid prop wash.
Turbo props have a steady low buzzing sound while pistons have a thumping sound

meh. I prefer the T-tail of the de Havilland. The APU nozzle on the tail cone of the Saab is literally, "butt ugly", however the turbine exhausts are sublimely Scandinavian. Nose cones/cockpits appear identical.

I saw one up close. It flew from CID to MDH with University of Northern Iowa’s Men’s Basketball team. I was their bus driver. Correction: Ground Transportation Specialist.😂Gorgeous aircraft!

I study to become a flight technician. And my school has the second SAAB 2000 prototype. I have seen it in ways no one should see it. I have even spun the prop with my hand and it's so fun. And the spinner, it's huge. But to see that baby take of. DET ÄR UNDERBART

Crusing at about 650-700 km/h. Nice aircraft. Can still be seen on some swedish domestic flights.

Swedish Quality shit from the hoods of Linköping, SAAB is a car & aircraft manifacturer. The cockpit and avionics on-board are state of the art.. I´ve landed and sat behind the captain and her copilot when CROSSAIR had these back in the day..
Amazing lady with character and attitude.. Cockpit looks like as modern as a jet, and flight 700km/h at high altitude!

Thank you for watching! Yes my grandparents also reminded my always about WW2. But this turboprop was produced from 1992 onwards. A great and very powerful turboprop, flying very fast. That is why it is nicknamed Concordino.

It is a very fast turboprop! I flew once with a Logan Air Saab 340 to Donegal which was also a great experience.

since i was a kid i always had a HUGE love for airplanes, and i always felt an epic chill whenever i heard the propellers powering up before takeoff, 1:54 is the best example of that and it takes me back to my childhood ;___;

Very nice video, I like such videos. But just a kind advice: don't zoom in too much when the plane goes further away. It's no problem if the plane becomes a bit smaller in the field of view. It is worse if it fills up a larger are; it shall not be bigger at longer distance. You loose the perspective, in my opinion.

Maybe so..a beauty of lower wings with prop/engine closer to ground effect..am not sure if the dynamics help TO/LDGs but I do know using unpaved loose gravelled runways introduces FOD.

Turboprops are more fuel efficient per mile than jet engines. Well burned JP4 produces thrust, whiles in turboprops its the old yet reliable propellers provides the thrust. But jet flies faster
