A lot of people describe Levi as being "emotionless" which is simply not true. He has emotions. He really does. He's *stoic* there's a big difference between having a lack of emotions and having the ability to conceal them. The exact definition of stoic is "A person who can endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining." I think this describes Levi perfectly. Levi has lost so many people that are important to him, people that he considered to be not just friends but family. Since a young age Levi has had endured nothing but hardship, he had no one to talk to about it and no one to cry to. He watched his mother die, he watched his friends die... Especially with the burden of having "Humanities Strongest Soldier" resting on his shoulders weighing down on him constantly. Imagine what people would say if he *did* show his emotions "Even humanities strongest has lost the will to fight" "There's no hope left". Levi is one of the only reasons why humanity has a fighting chance, he's a symbol of hope. He suppresses his emotions and keeps his head held high to set an example. He's been fighting for his life since he was a child. Levi is still human. He has emotions.

Dude I'm 17 still reading the manga right now and I CAN'T realize that Petra has died.
But if Petra survived the female titan she would die in the titan hardened cave from season 3 making Levi more sad and depressed and thinking about killing himself.
It's hard for me to Petra die that easily but it was for the best, if she died at season 3 it would mean that levi would kill himself intentionally

*First of all, a dangerzone its a moment where the character is in a intense situation where it could mean his death if he doesn't take it serious*
In every aot season the plot has a danger Zone where If someone enters he/she'll die, and if that person escapes the dangerzone it will die but at another time.
The people that didn't escape the danger zone are:
Levi's squad
Marco
Bean
Duran
Grisha
Hannes
Kenny
Oliver
Uri s3 (Historia's uncle)
Sonny
And Bertolt.
If you see this pattern once a battle or conflict started and they entered a dangerzone they were dead by the script.
But the ones who escaped the dangerzone have a different time of death and some of them aren't told yet, like:
Ymir's curse (explained in s3 part 2):
Reiner
Annie
Armin
Eren
Zeke
This titan shifters had survived but because of that Araki putted the "Ymir curse" every titan shifter will have 13 years of life, after 13 years passed the titan shifter will die by an unnatural cause. Or you can inherit his spinal fluid.
People that escaped the dangerzone without an curse (I'll put the most common ones)
Connie 2 times
Sahsha 3 times
Hange
Levi kenny and the beast titan s3 part 2 rampage.
Floch (the new character that survived the beast titan rampage at s3 part 2)
If you see well this characters in the anime escaped that zone but they are destined to die in a different time
So if Petra survived Annies rampage, her death time would be with levi still, at s3.
Instead of Ninfa getting shot by the head by Kenny it would be Petra, meaning a despair and hatred inside of Levi.
These are 3 examples of people who weren't at a dangerzone are:
Jean (he wasn't at that situation since he took advantage of his way of analyzing and leadership)
Mikasa (her ackerman bloodline gives her phisycal power and extended vigor etc.)
Historia (she was always protected by ymir, after that by his friends and now by royal guards).
If you see this pattern well everyone who escaped the danger zone will die at a different moment.
This is the pattern. If you want a more better explination I can tell you but it will contain SPOILERS

Thinking about this anime really gives you a hard time and if you really understand the story...,it gives you unpredictable feelings such as:

~despair
~sadness
~anger
~fear
~anxiety

Hajime is a great writer...he wants us to feel the story of this anime....
I know most of us is both sad and excited at the same time....we've been through this anime for 8 years...i hope all of us enjoy and dont let your feelings hide on your heart...

And he survived many atrocities, since childhood he has been in contact with death, he suffers all the time but he fights in spite of everything, because he can do it best ... He lose everyone he loved . he lost everyone he loved and yet he goes ahead, this is for me a real indicator of person's strength
