I think Eren or Ymir (the founder) are even more damaged. *Spoilers* One only wanted to be free, and to do that he had to go against the whole world, got his mind fucked by the attack titan unique ability to see the future. he saw his future self go back to the past and push his own father to kill the royal family, and exactly because he saw the future that he changed so drastically and decided to do what he did. He lost Sasha because of his actions, he lost his mother to a titan when he was a kid, he lost Hannes to that same titan, and after reaching the basement he saw the tragedy that his father had to go through and that gave sense to everything that happened to him since the beginning of this story. The other lived her whole childhood as a slave in a pre-historical nation, and when she obtained an overwhelming power, she didn't have the courage to use it for herself but kept using it for the same king who once ordered his soldiers to kill her. And even after she died protecting her king, she imprisoned herself in the dimension where all eldian lives' paths cross and still kept using her powers for her descendants by creating titans bodies or healing the shifters' injuries and following all the possessors of the founding titans' orders. She kept doing that for 2000 years, until Eren spoke to her and found out that she always wanted to be free but only needed someone to push her towards that decision. I think Ymir is the one who suffered most in this story. just my opinion tho

Levi Ackerman it was my first anime too and i usually just finish anime’s to get it over and done with but i really binged it because it was just that good that i needed more and more of it. i have loads of souvenirs of it fsr and im just obsessed it’s in my opinion the best anime out there. you can’t really beat it. i LIVE for levi and he’s probably my favourite character other than a few but yeah. please reply when you finish watching season four cause im interested in your response to what happens to him ik its in ages but im curious

I dont think so anymore. Isayama probably said that in a time where Erens real intentions werent told. (Thats a tiny manga spoiler read only if you want to risk it) : Eren now has suffered more than any human being alive in SnK/AoT, its clear if you have read the chapters from 119-133. He basically now is the most emotional character, much more emotinal than Levi and anyone else. He is a true Hero in a Villain disguise. But I have respect for Levi, he is definitly Top 10 most emotional characters currently

I would say Eren is the most *broken* character currently rather than emotional because his two personality traits (the dreamer one from 131 and freedom seeker of 133) are so drastically different that we don't know what's real anymore. (not saying he has a split personality. He doesn't. His intentions are just too complex) Levi is emotional but has hardened himself so much since infancy itself that he rarely gets broken anymore. BOTH are super emotional characters and are in my top 10 favorite anime characters of all time. Can't wait for 134 to drop!

He just keeps telling himself to kerp moving forward in order to get his freedom, thats his excuse, but we know he lies to himself. Thats clear in chapter 132 were he said "Freedom" as a kid. He looked happy at first, then the panel switched to the rumbling, and back to him, were he looked likethe "freedom" he is getting currently is actually no freedom. I mean the panel where he still looksinthe skybut you can see a clear shift in his face expression into a sad one, as if he tells himself that the rumbling is the best option and a guarantee. i've actually seen no one saying that they love him because he hides his feelings we all love him because he's such a badass but if there were.. hiding feelings is the worst thing ever, i know what he's passing through and i know how he deals with his pain i really know.. for that he's my comfort character i can see myself in him

He said "filthy" when he got messed up by Titan's blood, as if it was an OCD thing [I later found out he was a cleanliness princess and that made me adore him even more, that's fitting for someone who has OCD traits], and but when it came to comforting a dying soldier he held his bleeding hand like it was nothing, and spoke gently to him - saying his fighting spirit will live on in him and the rest of survivors for humanity. The thing is, Levi does have feelings but imagine what they would do to him if he let them all out. I honestly think it would destroy him because they're so strong. It would destroy the rest of the scouts seeing him in such visible pain. Do you know how much strength it takes to keep all your feelings bottled up inside of you even though they're there waiting to come out? As you said, Levi Ackerman truly has one of the biggest, bravest, and strongest hearts of all humanity. He keeps on fighting even though his inner pain is immense.
Remember Kenny was saying "we all are drunk on something", then Erwin was crying about not getting to see the cellar before he died, then Eren and Mikasa were crying about giving the injection to Armin, then Eren was crying about Armin's dream to visit the Sea, then Levi tells them all to clear out ... ... ... then he goes "all of you, rambling about dreams like some children". Levi suffered more than anyone, and nobody but Levi knows.

Everyone goes through different kinds of pain and different ways of responding to it. Both of them are actually similar in that respect. Levi went in rage mode against the titans that killed everyone he cared about. Eren went in rage mode against *everyone* that killed who he cared about. I don't know about you, but if I saw my mom getting eaten alive, her blood gushing through the air, I'd lose my mind. Eren is just a teenager.

Levi grew up early on with a serial killer and lost his friends and his mother. He could so easily have become what Kenny was, but decided against it and learned to value life on his own. In aot I have my top three that I think are very good in their own way, that's Zeke, Levi and Eren. Because each of these characters has something special to tell. I understand you're point. I also don't like it, when some people just look at a character's appearance without looking into the depths of their story. The best example would be Levi. So many say he looks good, and there's nothing wrong about that, but then they don't know his story, which I think is the strongest side of him.

If the time loop theory is correct and he saw all those deaths (including his) and the end of the world, it's no wonder he looks so lifeless and depressed in season 4. I would lose my mind if I knew the only way to save my friends in Paradis and end the cycle of hatred was to become the greatest villain. Levi's life is messed up as hell though. I agree on that point. When I watched his No Regrets OVA, I almost cried like a b***h 🥲. But still, nothing tops Eren's pain if that time loop theory is correct.

Yes, everyone in AOT has suffered and probably has experienced some sort of loss. But Levi's pain just feels so isolating and unbearable. A lot of the AOT characters have at least someone to lean on, someone to cry too, someone to be comforted by - but since birth, Levi has gone through so much hardship and seen death alone and then everytime he has someone he can lean on, they leave him. Yet despite that, he still cares so much for others. He worries. He mentors. He saves. And works tirelessly under the heavy title of Humanity's Strongest. And that's just fucking sad.
i was going to say he has Hanji, but then realized although they had known each other in a long time, Levi only consider her as a colleague. He didn't want to open up to her, because the last time he did it, they were both taken away from him. He didn't want the same thing happen to her. Poor boi ;(
There are many reasons why Levi's a brilliant fighter, but I feel like a lot of it comes down to the fact that he's lost so many people in his life. Unlike Eren or Mikasa or Armin, when Levi fights, he literally has nothing to lose. He can go all out. And that's why he's so dangerous...that's why he's so strong...he can afford to fight like there's no tomorrow.
It was confirmed that he has suicidal tendency, but will insist on keep fighting. But he hates wasting lives in vain, even if its his own. He is just keep failing to die. Damn... this man seriously need a hug.

Levi has dreams too, and his dreams are purer and simpler than anyone's. He only wishes to have someone to love, to protect, to take care of and to stay forever with. He doesn't ask for much, all he wants is to have friends and family, and yet the world keeps taking everything from him, watching him being torn to pieces. His power grants him strength, yet it crushes him.

赤Red, ((SPOILER ALERT!)) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Eren watched his mom who he KNEW and loved, not showing it of course but he did deep down, get devoured by his fathers first wife, he finds out why he hasnt seen his father until he remembers he ate his FATHER, who was part of the reason why the Wall-Eldians are still capable of fighting back, he found out his two friends Reiner and Bertholdt destroyed his home town and being the reason to his mothers death, he found out Annie, the girl he cared for aswell, murder the squad he only just got use too and just managed to develope feelings, he bares the weight of 'Humanitys last hope', and now he has to put up with the 'Curse of Ymir' which means he has limited time before he dies

I know. I didn't want to spoil anyone. His Uncle (Kenny) found him beside his Mother's Bed, Levi didn't knew she was dead, so he waited for days, that's why he became so skinny. It's sad how his Mother used to cut his hair when it's long. Her mother's last words were "don't worry, I will cut your hair when I'm already better" and the time never came. Levi will remember that, but sad.

Levi is totally my favorite character in AOT. He deserved so much better. In the manga, after his fight with Zeke in the woods, Levi says: "not being able to die must be tough at times like these". But I think that he didn't say that to Zeke, it's more like he said that to himself. That's so tough, and it breaks my heart. He's the strongest soldier, always the last man standing. And it seems like he can't die, but he has seen every friend and most of his comrades die. And still... he keeps fighting!

Probably guilt. I think he blames himself for letting his friends die, or for his squad. And the feeling of guilt is the worst thing if you ask me... I remember when i felt so guilty (not saying what but just know i did something horrible) i couldnt sleep for 2 years. I stayed on my phone to not think about it until my eyes hurt so much that i HAD to sleep..because everytime i stayed alone with my mind it teared me up... Those years school was fucked aswell, so are my eyes now, due to 2 years of ruining them. Guilt is horrible...especially when no one knows what you did...

Being physically strong doesn’t mean that it will stop you from breaking inside. Levi isn’t only strong on the outside but is also strong in the inside after losing everybody he loved.

I've seen him lose his squad like Gunther, Eld, Oluo and even Petra. I heard he lost his childhood friends Isabel and Farlan. But it wasn't enough for me to see how good of a person he truly was. Sure we lose people but is that any way to act so harsh, strict and be a neat freak? That's what I thought until Kenny showed up. Because of him, I felt dark vibes coming back to me. The same dark vibes I felt over The Rat with Demonic Eyes (he's from another story, not an anime.) I started having uneasy sleeps and some dreams involving him. I became terrified and felt like I needed someone like Levi to protect from Kenny. I needed him to keep me safe from him. If reality, I'd apologize to him for all those times I ridiculed him, calling him short, strict, harsh and a neat freak. Especially a neat freak. He'd forgive me apparently and I'd ask him to train me and be as hard on me as he can so that I would get stronger physically because I've always been weak. Not physically capable of fending myself. Afraid of encountering men like The Rat With Demonic Eyes or Kenny. Fearful that they would do much worst than murder me. Then I learned about his childhood and how tragic it was. The reason for him being short was due to malnutrition and lack of sunlight, his mother died when he was just a child and he had no one to fend for him until Kenny showed up, who apparently was his maternal uncle. Then right at his dying breath, Kenny reveals to him he was his uncle and he dies right in front of him. The man wasn't as evil as the rat I was terrified of as a child it seems, but he really seemed like it. And I was terrified of him. I wanted to hug Levi and hold him for emotional support. I use to hate Levi but then I fell for him. I love him today and I think I always will, even if he does give orders I wouldn't wanna take part in. He is who he is because he cares about people and wants his squad, who are still teenagers, to grow and mature into disciplined civilians. I was wrong about both Levi and Kenny and I can understand them both much more now.
Levi... he just keeps on experiencing loss over and over again, bottling up his feelings everytime, I wish I could tell him how much I love him and just give him a hug; I wish he knew how many people care for him, he is definetly my favorite character in AOT, Isayama... give the poor man a break, he's been through a lot already, give him a happy ending I'm begging you.

@Hʏᴘᴇʀʟᴇᴛʜᴀʟ Nᴏʀᴍɪᴇ it is the basis of the anime( also "Meet the Robinsons"), each character kept moving forward to attain what they want, despite of their hardships and suffering. Armin kept moving forward, Levi kept mving forward, Eren kept moving forward to achieve their goals.
Not hoping much, but I really hope I can see Levi cry his feelings out, or smile sincerely. Even it's by himself; this could remind everyone out there that he's a human, that he too has emotions and brokenness inside of him.

Well maybe he should have thought about that before putting so much pressure on Eren to save humanity. Eren went rogue to save his comrades especially since they couldn't come up with a solution and kept committing huge mistakes (wouldnt happen if Erwin was alive). And the teaming up with Marylans to save "humanity" is such a farce. Marlyans were fine with destroying humanity as long as it was off their borders. Levi is my favorite character in AoT but people should give Eren some slack. Without him, they would have stayed within the walls until Marlyans blew them off.

This brought me to tears. Levi has just...suffered more than anyone else. He's such a tragic character. He has so much strength, but when it comes down to it he can't save anyone he loves. He's just lost everything he ever loved. He just keeps losing everything but he still keeps on fighting because it's the right thing to do. His strength is like a curse for him... because he can't die but has to watch everyone else leave him...and now he can't even fight. He's completely alone and physically and mentally hurt...but he keeps on fighting hard for the right thing. He doesn't lash out in his pain or hasn't gone down the wrong path even though it would be so easy for him to turn on the world for all the pain it has put him through...instead he keeps his pain to himself and keeps fighting on. Levi Ackerman is truly the strongest person I have ever seen...he deserves a happy ending more than anyone else...he deserves peace at last...because fighting is all he's ever known. I just want him to be happy because he's never known true happiness. He really deserves to rest and be free.
When I tell you all out of all the anime I’ve watch he is the only character that I really got attached too that much. Despite his look...his story , his personality everything about this man makes me want to love him. I just want to hold him tight against my chest and tell him that he is going to be okay. just imagine at the end of the anime, he goes to the house far far in the middle of nowhere and he opens the door to find a piano inside, he stands there looking at it and then goes to sit, he then starts playing this, he then feels tear drops falling down his face once again, his eyes widen as he keeps playing, the more he plays the more he cries, at the end he grinds his teeth and scream once again but this time with pain in his voiceand thats when it fades away..

One only wanted to be free, and to do that he had to go against the whole world, got his mind fucked by the attack titan unique ability to see the future. he saw his future self go back to the past and push his own father to kill the royal family, and exactly because he saw the future that he changed so drastically and decided to do what he did. He lost Sasha because of his actions, he lost his mother to a titan when he was a kid, he lost Hannes to that same titan, and after reaching the basement he saw the tragedy that his father had to go through and that gave sense to everything that happened to him since the beginning of this story.
The other lived her whole childhood as a slave in a pre-historical nation, and when she obtained an overwhelming power, she didn't have the courage to use it for herself but kept using it for the same king who once ordered his soldiers to kill her. And even after she died protecting her king, she imprisoned herself in the dimension where all eldian lives' paths cross and still kept using her powers for her descendants by creating titans bodies or healing the shifters' injuries and following all the possessors of the founding titans' orders. She kept doing that for 2000 years, until Eren spoke to her and found out that she always wanted to be free but only needed someone to push her towards that decision. I think Ymir is the one who suffered most in this story. just my opinion tho

I dont think so anymore. Isayama probably said that in a time where Erens real intentions werent told. (Thats a tiny manga spoiler read only if you want to risk it) : Eren now has suffered more than any human being alive in SnK/AoT, its clear if you have read the chapters from 119-133. He basically now is the most emotional character, much more emotinal than Levi and anyone else.
He is a true Hero in a Villain disguise. But I have respect for Levi, he is definitly Top 10 most emotional characters currently

I would say Eren is the most *broken* character currently rather than emotional because his two personality traits (the dreamer one from 131 and freedom seeker of 133) are so drastically different that we don't know what's real anymore. (not saying he has a split personality. He doesn't. His intentions are just too complex)
Levi is emotional but has hardened himself so much since infancy itself that he rarely gets broken anymore.
BOTH are super emotional characters and are in my top 10 favorite anime characters of all time. Can't wait for 134 to drop!

Actually i would say Eren isnt only broken, he also has a lot of emotions. He just keeps telling himself to kerp moving forward in order to get his freedom, thats his excuse, but we know he lies to himself. Thats clear in chapter 132 were he said "Freedom" as a kid. He looked happy at first, then the panel switched to the rumbling, and back to him, were he looked likethe "freedom" he is getting currently is actually no freedom. I mean the panel where he still looksinthe skybut you can see a clear shift in his face expression into a sad one, as if he tells himself that the rumbling is the best option and a guarantee.

Everyone picks on him for "not having feelings". But they don't know what he's lived through, who and what he's lost. They don't know what he feels when he sees people cry. But he keeps on fighting for the sake of humanity Isayama even said so: "Even after Titans have killed countless of his friends, each time provoking rage and despair that seem enough to tear his body to shreds... he keeps insisting on fighting hard." Levi Ackerman definitely has one of the biggest and bravest hearts of all humanity....

Oh... he is stoic, but ever since his introduction I knew this was more depth to this shortie of a man than anything. He said "filthy" when he got messed up by Titan's blood, as if it was an OCD thing [I later found out he was a cleanliness princess and that made me adore him even more, that's fitting for someone who has OCD traits], and but when it came to comforting a dying soldier he held his bleeding hand like it was nothing, and spoke gently to him - saying his fighting spirit will live on in him and the rest of survivors for humanity. He's stoic, but unemotional?... naaahhh.

The thing is, Levi does have feelings but imagine what they would do to him if he let them all out. I honestly think it would destroy him because they're so strong. It would destroy the rest of the scouts seeing him in such visible pain. Do you know how much strength it takes to keep all your feelings bottled up inside of you even though they're there waiting to come out? As you said, Levi Ackerman truly has one of the biggest, bravest, and strongest hearts of all humanity. He keeps on fighting even though his inner pain is immense.
Remember Kenny was saying "we all are drunk on something", then Erwin was crying about not getting to see the cellar before he died, then Eren and Mikasa were crying about giving the injection to Armin, then Eren was crying about Armin's dream to visit the Sea, then Levi tells them all to clear out

Everyone goes through different kinds of pain and different ways of responding to it. Both of them are actually similar in that respect. Levi went in rage mode against the titans that killed everyone he cared about. Eren went in rage mode against *everyone* that killed who he cared about. I don't know about you, but if I saw my mom getting eaten alive, her blood gushing through the air, I'd lose my mind. Eren is just a teenager.

Levi grew up early on with a serial killer and lost his friends and his mother. He could so easily have become what Kenny was, but decided against it and learned to value life on his own. In aot I have my top three that I think are very good in their own way, that's Zeke, Levi and Eren. Because each of these characters has something special to tell. I understand you're point. I also don't like it, when some people just look at a character's appearance without looking into the depths of their story. The best example would be Levi. So many say he looks good, and there's nothing wrong about that, but then they don't know his story, which I think is the strongest side of him.

Levi's life is messed up as hell though. I agree on that point. When I watched his No Regrets OVA, I almost cried like a b***h 🥲. But still, nothing tops Eren's pain if that time loop theory is correct.

Yes, everyone in AOT has suffered and probably has experienced some sort of loss. But Levi's pain just feels so isolating and unbearable. A lot of the AOT characters have at least someone to lean on, someone to cry too, someone to be comforted by - but since birth, Levi has gone through so much hardship and seen death alone and then everytime he has someone he can lean on, they leave him.
Yet despite that, he still cares so much for others. He worries. He mentors. He saves. And works tirelessly under the heavy title of Humanity's Strongest.
And that's just fucking sad.

There are many reasons why Levi's a brilliant fighter, but I feel like a lot of it comes down to the fact that he's lost so many people in his life. Unlike Eren or Mikasa or Armin, when Levi fights, he literally has nothing to lose. He can go all out. And that's why he's so dangerous...that's why he's so strong...he can afford to fight like there's no tomorrow.

His power grants him strength, yet it crushes him.

Eren watched his mom who he KNEW and loved, not showing it of course but he did deep down, get devoured by his fathers first wife, he finds out why he hasnt seen his father until he remembers he ate his FATHER, who was part of the reason why the Wall-Eldians are still capable of fighting back, he found out his two friends Reiner and Bertholdt destroyed his home town and being the reason to his mothers death, he found out Annie, the girl he cared for aswell, murder the squad he only just got use too and just managed to develope feelings, he bares the weight of 'Humanitys last hope', and now he has to put up with the 'Curse of Ymir' which means he has limited time before he dies

@@righteousrighteous7724 In an interview, Isayama said Levi doesn’t even sleep in bed, he can barely sleep an hour or 2 and it’s while sitting cause of exhaustion but every time he tries to sleep he cannot, According to writer Levi barely gets 3 hours of sleep a day.

First, he lost Farlan and Isabel. Then he recovered, second.. he lost Petra, Oulou and the others. Man, that's hard. It's hard to lost someone you love. That one time Petra told her Dad that she wanted to marry Levi. Damn.. he is one strong man..
I know. I didn't want to spoil anyone. His Uncle (Kenny) found him beside his Mother's Bed, Levi didn't knew she was dead, so he waited for days, that's why he became so skinny. It's sad how his Mother used to cut his hair when it's long. Her mother's last words were "don't worry, I will cut your hair when I'm already better" and the time never came. Levi will remember that, but sad.

Levi is totally my favorite character in AOT. He deserved so much better. Everyone he loved the most the ones that always supported him and loved him back always dies, for example, his mother, Farlan and Isabel, Petra and all his squad, Kenny and now Erwin. That's why he seems really cold outside because he is so afraid to be so close to someone again because he don't want to loss someone again but inside he really cares and suffers a lot. Hajime, why just why, why you make Levi suffer so much-

Those years school was fucked aswell, so are my eyes now, due to 2 years of ruining them.

I've seen him lose his squad like Gunther, Eld, Oluo and even Petra. I heard he lost his childhood friends Isabel and Farlan. But it wasn't enough for me to see how good of a person he truly was. Sure we lose people but is that any way to act so harsh, strict and be a neat freak? That's what I thought until Kenny showed up. Because of him, I felt dark vibes coming back to me. The same dark vibes I felt over The Rat with Demonic Eyes (he's from another story, not an anime.) I started having uneasy sleeps and some dreams involving him. I became terrified and felt like I needed someone like Levi to protect from Kenny. I needed him to keep me safe from him. If reality, I'd apologize to him for all those times I ridiculed him, calling him short, strict, harsh and a neat freak. Especially a neat freak. He'd forgive me apparently and I'd ask him to train me and be as hard on me as he can so that I would get stronger physically because I've always been weak. Not physically capable of fending myself. Afraid of encountering men like The Rat With Demonic Eyes or Kenny. Fearful that they would do much worst than murder me. Then I learned about his childhood and how tragic it was. The reason for him being short was due to malnutrition and lack of sunlight, his mother died when he was just a child and he had no one to fend for him until Kenny showed up, who apparently was his maternal uncle. Then right at his dying breath, Kenny reveals to him he was his uncle and he dies right in front of him. The man wasn't as evil as the rat I was terrified of as a child it seems, but he really seemed like it. And I was terrified of him. I wanted to hug Levi and hold him for emotional support.
I use to hate Levi but then I fell for him. I love him today and I think I always will, even if he does give orders I wouldn't wanna take part in. He is who he is because he cares about people and wants his squad, who are still teenagers, to grow and mature into disciplined civilians. I was wrong about both Levi and Kenny and I can understand them both much more now.

Eren went rogue to save his comrades especially since they couldn't come up with a solution and kept committing huge mistakes (wouldnt happen if Erwin was alive).
And the teaming up with Marylans to save "humanity" is such a farce. Marlyans were fine with destroying humanity as long as it was off their borders.
Levi is my favorite character in AoT but people should give Eren some slack. Without him, they would have stayed within the walls until Marlyans blew them off.

This brought me to tears. Levi has just...suffered more than anyone else. He's such a tragic character. He has so much strength, but when it comes down to it he can't save anyone he loves. He's just lost everything he ever loved. He just keeps losing everything but he still keeps on fighting because it's the right thing to do. His strength is like a curse for him... because he can't die but has to watch everyone else leave him...and now he can't even fight. He's completely alone and physically and mentally hurt...but he keeps on fighting hard for the right thing. He doesn't lash out in his pain or hasn't gone down the wrong path even though it would be so easy for him to turn on the world for all the pain it has put him through...instead he keeps his pain to himself and keeps fighting on. Levi Ackerman is truly the strongest person I have ever seen...he deserves a happy ending more than anyone else...he deserves peace at last...because fighting is all he's ever known. I just want him to be happy because he's never known true happiness. He really deserves to rest and be free.

When I tell you all out of all the anime I’ve watch he is the only character that I really got attached too that much. just imagine at the end of the anime, he goes to the house far far in the middle of nowhere and he opens the door to find a piano inside, he stands there looking at it and then goes to sit, he then starts playing this, he then feels tear drops falling down his face once again, his eyes widen as he keeps playing, the more he plays the more he cries, at the end he grinds his teeth and scream once again but this time with pain in his voiceand thats when it fades away..
