Come to think of it, Jean fits more in the term of "reluctant hero", because at the very first he does not wish to join the survey corps and the ultimate reason that is that he wants to stay ignorant of the cruel world outside. But Marco's death shattered him so much and he joined the survey corps at the very last second. He is ever so reluctant in fights to death and even fear death so much(well, who wouldn't?), he does not have Eren's tenuous spirit, nor Armin's intelligence, nor the Ackermans' strength, he does not even excel at some point like Connie and Sasha did. In all, he is just another ordinary person who wishes to live a well-struggled but rather peaceful life, but no, he joined the survey corps, the one that he disliked so much at first, he became a squad leader like Marco said he would become so good on, and he fought in the front line like an elite soldier that he is. The reluctance in Jean was shown through out the series: when he questioned himself of the truth of Marco's death when it is clear as daylight, when he cannot bring himself to accept the truth of the need of killing other humans, when he stayed silent during Armin's possible death...I could see so much reluctance in him when I come to think about the series(I've only watched it once but almost every scene was memorize cuz it's so great). SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! Even when Sasha died, he turned his head as if still trying to avoid the truth like he did so many times before(or maybe I interpreted it wrong, but that's how it looks like to me). Jean Kirstein was a hero, indeed, he survived Trost, the attack of the female Titan, and even became part of the only remaining survivors in the recovery of wall Maria, but I saw more of his reluctance at his every decision and step. If given a choice, I believe he will happily go into the MP with his only friend and probably waste his life away but will do it happily. I do ship Levi x Petra, but the song itself holds meaning for all of them. That song is Souyoku no Hikari, or The Light of Two Wings. If you look up the English lyrics, it's pretty much a letter from Petra to Levi. It made me so sad...white feathers fall together one by one to form a white wing, fragile lives are lost one by one to leave behind a black wing...In my final moments, was I a brave soldier in your eyes...? Isabel and Furlan's deaths were depressing, but their song is So ist es Immer, not Reluctant Heroes. It's very sad, but also happy. It mostly reflects back to when they were all alive and together in the Underground. And hello? The Scouting Legion song? IT'S LITERALLY CALLED ATTACK ON TITAN. And I will admit, it's pretty epic. Also, Levi's character theme is Dark Side of the Moon.
I feel like it fits Isabel, Levi and Farlan the best though and its a shame the theme wasn't saved for the OVA, though I understand why it wasn't. Just because of ALL of the soldiers, they're the only ones who didn't get a choice in joining. It was join or be subjected to the punishments of the MPs and Merchants that they stole from, likely would've ended in at LEAST the death of Levi. Unless they somehow managed to get away from both MPs and SC which considering how easily the SC caught them was very unlikely and they knew that. So yeah if I were matching this theme, personally I would've saved it for the OVA, though I do think its a great bit of foreshadowing for the OVA considering its basically only played when Levi is in the picture. Levi is the reluctant hero forced into his life and to keep living his trapped life even after the deaths of Farlan and Isabel, the other two reluctant heroes.

People keep thinking this and the Reluctant Hero is about specific characters, when I think it’s more about the entire Survey Corps, since they literally face the worse fate out of everyone else in the Wall. Everyone that joined and worked in the Survey Corps are the literal Reluctant Heroes, and the piano version of the song comes in their defeat, just like the Forest section of season 1, when they returned completely defeated by the Female Titan.

So i had this Solo Session with my DM on the tabletop RPG campaign we are having (there was a reason i was separated from the rest of the group), and i was sent together to a mission with a NPC that was a close friend of mine character. We were both royal guards sent on duty for a duel to settle down some problems between our empire and the surrounding Dragonborn tribes. During our venture to the duel place the DM played the NPC as we had nice bonding moments and the NPC spoke about how after this he would like to retire from duty, have a family, and was tired of having to kill people for a living. It was all great. When we arrived near the duel spot, at a legionnaire camp, the emperor's son (prince) was already there, and was about to send an attack on those Dragonborn tribes, which would lead to more soldier deaths and fuel their wrath further aggravating the possibility of war. I couldn't go against the emperor's son order, but the NPC didn't think twice, he knocked out cold the prince using his hammer and then we headed to the duel. We fought a 2 v 2, fighting like a dynamic duo, taking care of each-other's back and we defeated the dragonborns, settling down the problems. Our fellow legionnaire allies cheered us since we prevented many causalities with this. We went back to the camp, went to the barracks to have some beer with the rest of the soldiers, and the NPC told me about how he wanted to be an artisan after retiring. Moments later the prince got inside the barracks along with many government guards (from another division) and accused the NPC of terrorism, saying that the NPC tried to murder him, the prince. They had my friend shackled. I couldn't do anything other than tell my dear friend that i would contact the emperor saying that it was all a misunderstanding. Then the prince had my friend knelled, they would execute him immediately. The DM put this song on to play, while the prince asked if i had any final words to say to my friend. All i could do was look at his face, with my teary eyes and say "I'm sorry". Then the NPC told me to live my life, continue going on and do what must be done. I broke down in tears in real life. I had promised him before we went into this mission that i'd die with him if he were to die, that i wouldn't leave him behind, but yet... I couldn't do anything again. His head rolled, and his body dropped lifeless. This was going to be his last day before he tried to have a nice life. His last day of ordered murder for the cause of an empire. And then he would be a father, then a grandfather and die peacefully. But this corrupted twat of a prince had him dead for saving lives. Rest in Peace, Torres. And thanks for my DM, for the awesome use of this song and his gorgeous DMing.

Misa's speech before reluctant hero's plays then eren first appears as a titan. My favorite speech in the anime. She says something like, I'm surround by abunch of cowardly worms. You can just sit and watch how it's done... blah blah blah... something like that. I Love it
Does anybody know where to find the sheet music for this particular version? all the ones that I can find that are "slow" versions of Reluctant Heroes are just slower versions of the faster one, not this one, and none of them have the same beautiful ending that this does. Everyone who used to be in AOT will have a day of rising, and a day of falling, no one can decide to stay or go. Maybe its fated? It seems pretty much like a cancer inside of a young child who has just born to see this work for the few times. Most of the times, the child used to stayed in the house to prevent infections. No matter how much the child confessed his feeling to their parents, he never got to be freed out of the room which has the same smell, and the same feeling all around it. Does it sounds alike to someone who's struggling from Pandemics? I'm not sure, because, I don't know what's the meaning of sad, and "same" anymore...

They're the reluctant heroes because everytime they go out the Walls, they're scared and reluctant but they still go and do it. It's all for them. :')

Some people haven`t even watched the OVA. I`ve watched some of the Isabel and Farlan episodes, But I actually like the Petra and Levi ship and the Isabel and Farlan ship. I just think they go together. That`s all.

People keep thinking this and the Reluctant Hero is about specific characters, when I think it’s more about the entire Survey Corps, since they literally face the worse fate out of everyone else in the Wall. Everyone that joined and worked in the Survey Corps are the literal Reluctant Heroes, and the piano version of the song comes in their defeat, just like the Forest section of season 1, when they returned completely defeated by the Female Titan.
An anthem for all the heroes who fought outsise the walls, brave and reluctant at the same time. Nobody wants to die so fast! Marlo, Moblit, Farlan, Isabel, Mike, Gunter, Sasha, Erwin... They all wanted to be free.
Attack on Titan delves into some seriously deep and heartbreaking stuff I hope I never have to feel in my life time. But inevitably will tbh
I'd highly suggest listening to this whilst stargazing, by the way. Seems to make the whole thing that bit more magical. I love this version so much!

So i had this Solo Session with my DM on the tabletop RPG campaign we are having (there was a reason i was separated from the rest of the group), and i was sent together to a mission with a NPC that was a close friend of mine character. We were both royal guards sent on duty for a duel to settle down some problems between our empire and the surrounding Dragonborn tribes.
During our venture to the duel place the DM played the NPC as we had nice bonding moments and the NPC spoke about how after this he would like to retire from duty, have a family, and was tired of having to kill people for a living. It was all great.
When we arrived near the duel spot, at a legionnaire camp, the emperor's son (prince) was already there, and was about to send an attack on those Dragonborn tribes, which would lead to more soldier deaths and fuel their wrath further aggravating the possibility of war. I couldn't go against the emperor's son order, but the NPC didn't think twice, he knocked out cold the prince using his hammer and then we headed to the duel.
We fought a 2 v 2, fighting like a dynamic duo, taking care of each-other's back and we defeated the dragonborns, settling down the problems. Our fellow legionnaire allies cheered us since we prevented many causalities with this. We went back to the camp, went to the barracks to have some beer with the rest of the soldiers, and the NPC told me about how he wanted to be an artisan after retiring.
Moments later the prince got inside the barracks along with many government guards (from another division) and accused the NPC of terrorism, saying that the NPC tried to murder him, the prince. They had my friend shackled. I couldn't do anything other than tell my dear friend that i would contact the emperor saying that it was all a misunderstanding.
Then the prince had my friend knelled, they would execute him immediately. The DM put this song on to play, while the prince asked if i had any final words to say to my friend. All i could do was look at his face, with my teary eyes and say "I'm sorry". Then the NPC told me to live my life, continue going on and do what must be done. I broke down in tears in real life. I had promised him before we went into this mission that i'd die with him if he were to die, that i wouldn't leave him behind, but yet... I couldn't do anything again. His head rolled, and his body dropped lifeless.
This was going to be his last day before he tried to have a nice life. His last day of ordered murder for the cause of an empire. And then he would be a father, then a grandfather and die peacefully. But this corrupted twat of a prince had him dead for saving lives. Rest in Peace, Torres.
And thanks for my DM, for the awesome use of this song and his gorgeous DMing.

Does anybody know where to find the sheet music for this particular version? all the ones that I can find that are "slow" versions of Reluctant Heroes are just slower versions of the faster one, not this one, and none of them have the same beautiful ending that this does. If anybody can help me out, that would be greatly appreciated. Thx :)

Everyone who used to be in AOT will have a day of rising, and a day of falling, no one can decide to stay or go. Maybe its fated? It seems pretty much like a cancer inside of a young child who has just born to see this work for the few times. Most of the times, the child used to stayed in the house to prevent infections. No matter how much the child confessed his feeling to their parents, he never got to be freed out of the room which has the same smell, and the same feeling all around it. Does it sounds alike to someone who's struggling from Pandemics? I'm not sure, because, I don't know what's the meaning of sad, and "same" anymore...

They're the reluctant heroes because everytime they go out the Walls, they're scared and reluctant but they still go and do it. It's all for them. :')
