- "The President's Own" United States Marine Band performs John Williams' Suite from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, transcribed by Paul Lavender, on March 14, 2016, at The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md. Conducted by Lt.Col. Jason K. Fettig. www.marineband.marines.mil/

Honestly, some sections of this sound better than the studio recordings that were in the movie. The entire brass section of the President's Own is just mind blowingly good.
I've been wondering, what if for Episode VIII the music was recorded by THIS Band? Nah, it could not happen - or could it??
With strings from all over, that might be the best possible orchestra.
Mind you when the soundtrack was recorded for some of the Star wars movies, recording equipment wasn't as good as it is now. Either way this Orchestra combined with a full string section would be one of the best orchestras i've listened to live and online
this band combined with a full string section*
This soundtrack is from 2015, I'm pretty sure recording equipment was pretty good then
MARINE CORE + STAR WARS + JOHN WILLIAMS + FRENCH HORN = AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!
Corps*
+Elk4theBeast214 sorry yeah ik
actually all you need is john williams
amen
Don't forget timpani and trombone
These marines deserve a full room. This was played flawlessly and wonderfully, I enjoyed it thoroughly.
This is the greatest band in the world, their shows are completely free so go see them when you can!
@@koitopia8445 If I lived in DC I absolutely would. : (
impressive...most impressive
aklaimdartist Lol😂
That my line
The people who disliked this are just sad jealous horn players who always crack the high A in the solo smh😒
Ikr
Zachary McKinon I'm just upset because all the other instruments overpower the saxophones. In my band (high school), we have unusually powerful saxophones and whilf play forte during a piano
Saxophones...they mean nothing to me
Kinda lol highest I get is High G looooolllll #badfrenchhornplayer
That is true 'cause i play french horn and i play this song too....🤔🤔
That euphonium duet in the beginning is phenomenal, short but sweet. 0:19 through 0:38.
Joel Luna yes it was amazing 🙌🏽🙌🏽
And 4th horn 😫😫💁🏼♂️
The euphoniums are keeping up with the flutes so well @ 2:25 on those runs and they’re so clean
I love how the conductor conducts
The force is strong in this one.
Not the force... The push ups
that bass trombone is amazing
The euphoniums in this piece are so beautiful their tone and sound quality is breath taking 🤤🤤🙌🏽🙌🏽
Beatifully done
Oh that French horn is amazing it gave me the chills.
John Williams will be proud
I remember playing for Lt. Col. Fettig with the Allentown Band. Very memorable experience in my high school career.
I love that the Marine pants have the Corellian Bloodstripe...
very impressive. I like his very clear conducting. Very easy to follow.
I just wanna play that horn solo like he does!! I always croak on that high A😭
+Joelle Hitechew same. I started horn in November after playing trumpet for 6 years, and I wish I've made more progress than I have. Although I have made lots of practice, especially without lessons
+Alec Mock HORN FOR THE WIN YALL !!!!!!
Timpani+trombone=legitness
its the high d above the 2nd ledger line that gets me.
Mockman100k same here. no lessons and were both making really good progress
Watching this video reminded me of why I love this kind of music more than anything..... it is THE thing which propels me beyond ego into something far greater than myself.
This song never fails to give me goosebumps. Definitely the best piece from the new movies
The french horn is the best one out of all.
The Voice of Reason stands and applauds this performance, and some of the finest musicians our country has to offer. Bravo!
The Force is great in this band! Wonderful work, congratulations!
This performance is incredible. Wish I'd been there to witness it myself. How is that room not full ??
I spent 30 years in the california air national guard band, there are guard bands, then active duty bands and then there is this band, truly the finest there is.
4:18 the kylo ren part gave me chills
Matt Latessa ikr? it felt almost as if his ship was landing right at the back of my house!!
im replying to this 3 years later but yeah it did too me as well. All of the star wars important themes give me the chills haha
arge I’m replying 4 years later and I agree
5:06 is giving me chills!
Dammit that stupid horn solo is possible. I swore to my band director when we played this that it was impossible. oops. maybe it just takes an actual horn player. I gonna go back to trumpet where i belong.
bandgeek electric go do some pull ups
Just use your trumpet mouthpiece in your French horn 😂
It takes a lot of practice because it took me several months to get the horn solo down and I still crack hard sometimes. Just takes a lot of time, which is to be expected. Quarantine does weird stuff to freshmen, now sophomore in HS, like playing this when I have nothing better to do in my life lol.
this performance was only 15 minutes from my house! i should’ve gone lol
Amazing! And performed by the Marines! What a beauty!
French Horn Solo = BAE 1:32
TRUTH!!!
ikr
Makes me as a trumpet player really envy him... 😕
Really? Even with that missed partial?
"Horn Solo"
holy cow.... WOW!
You can see the love and pride the conductor puts into this. He truly loves it.
Haha and I thought that the strings were the most important parts of an orchestra. Turns out I was completely wrong :-D
Because this is a band not an orchestra.
@@sethwexler6910 it's a joke Seth 🤦🏻♂️
The Tubas are rather amazing in this performance
Why the hell was this not a full house? Hardly anyone there... Great band - and all done without strings!
The Force is strong with this one.
However, I would've liked that they kept the original ending!
Woah, woah, woah. This is fantastic. The Maestro would be proud.
What an impressive Orchestra! Congratulations!
Absolutely amazing!
Played this, truly amazing
Amazing concert, guys! Great performance! Thank you for sharing.
what a lovely horn solo! 👍🏻📯
Wow that transition at 2:07 was amazing.. It sent the chills through me...
Other than the trombones overpowering the sound on the last note and the mishap at the beginning, amazing!
Cannot beat it when that timpanist tunes his drums between passages!
Outstanding performance! Congrats to all!
Great performance and I love how they integrated the original ending theme with Rey's theme, just as it should be in the original recording but it didn't happen, nevertheless this version is canon in my book :).
Fantastic!! Thanks for doing these recordings!
to be The President's Own takes the deepest committment, the most serious mind. you must FEEL... the music
数あるスターウォーズのサントラの中で1番好き‼︎
Smooth! Amazing work everyone!
The slowing down of the tympani into the last note stinger puts the cherry on top.
The ending tempo at 2:10 sounds like the ones from the originals when the credits come
One word: brilliant!
Impressive... most impressive...
Awesome score + Great transcribed by Paul Lavender
4:07 The live performances are based on the theatrical version. The version in the home media releases is slightly different.
5:29 Clarinet/flute techniques are on point.
¡¡¡Gran banda!!!
Amazing. Congratulations
simply favolous!!!!!
Wonderful!!
i like the part at 7:04 a lot
GOD CONDUCT THE HANDS OF
DIRECTOR LT. COL JASON K FETTIG !
CONGRATULATIONS !
EPIPHANY. JAN 7, 2017
The timpanist could use some work on his technique, but John Williams would be proud
Matt McLellan - I agree!!! He kind of pecks at the timpani and his dynamics are slightly overpowering. That's what I thought of it. The pecking only occurs at the staccato though.
Fabulous!!!!!
Wonderful
My favorite the Marine Band is!
OUTSTANDING!
Paul Lavender's Arrangements ROCK!
Awesome!
awesome!!!
Wow! Excellent. Most Excellent. The General is most pleased. Most pleased indeed.
I left like 11 comments already but the conductor is so.. smooth. The way he moves his hand is so cool
10/10 would listen again
That horn player at 1:33
Excellent
I see now why conductors love timpani. It does their job for them
Bravo!!!
so beautiful! greets from germany!
ps: the crowd is kinda lame.
Beautifol,bellissimo.
Very well done!!! I have to say, that I am usually prefer symphony orchestras - but this sounds very good! Great performance!!!
*THANKS YOU FOR THIS VIDEO +1*
It's my goal to be a member of that band. I'm a trumpet performance major at Pacific Lutheran University
Nailed it!
Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏
WOW!
Bravo
man i love french horns
That Kylo Ren's transition OMG
好好聽
Wow.
They did so good that the video got a copyright claim
That's how you know they're good
Because the arrangement is copyrighted.
2:17 the camera shook at how intensifying this was
Where I can buy this score
Who would dislike this. I mean, really!
1:34 Just made my eyes start to water
1:32 SOOOO GOOD
