They came from a very small company which means that the training system of the company was not like other companies like jyp,sm etc. 3. They sang in english in some parts which is not their language but still they didn't sound weird or awkward in english. 4. They were rookies at that time. 5. And Moonbyul is so charming, so kind, so warm-hearted, U want to be her wife for ever and ever.
In terms of talent and sheer performing ability, I think they're truly that "once in a decade" kind of girl group. Each member stands out in their own way and the balance is perfect when all four come together.
I'm watching this again after a few years, and I still can't get over how superior their voices were among most other girl groups at that time. Very few of them could sing multi-part harmony. Very few of them could show strong voices from all members of the group, and I can hear all four could wail at the same time. Who could do that back then ? I noted that in recent video collaboration with JYP, Moonbyul didn't seem to like wearing a short dress yet here she was 4+ years ago being OK with it. How things change :-)

Wheein really carried this performance on her back. She really is the backbone of MAMAMOO. Most of the time she was singing the camera wasn’t even on her. Lol i’m seeing this after a long time it was a bit pajnful to watch but now i also realized how good this performance is. Wow.

dunno why suddenly i'm getting messages from this post i made over a year ago but i wanna say that what i meant by "idols" vs "singers" is that there are just some groups that were born and made singers and those people are.. singers
i never said "idols" were a bad thing either; i love a lot of groups that i would consider "idols" but those groups are either well rounded or particularly strong in other things like dance (itzy, a perfect female example). i'm not saying they're any worse than mamamoo, i'm just saying that mamamoo is one of the only female kpop groups i could seriously call a group of SINGERS. there are also "idol rappers" and "real rappers", if that also helps in my comparison (ex: jennie vs soyeon). not saying jennie is bad at rapping, im just saying that jennie was not born to BE a rapper, while soyeon literally writes and shoots out bars herself, which is the case of a "real rapper".

Listening to other girl groups vocal and raps was already a normal for me for their notes and raps and when I heard mamamoo singing its like are they really idols? How come can someone sing with a stable and live voice while danciing? For me I already saw a girl group that is harmonous and unique than the others. I'm watching this again after a few years, and I still can't get over how superior their voices were among most other girl groups at that time. Very few of them could sing multi-part harmony. Very few of them could show strong voices from all members of the group, and I can hear all four could wail at the same time. Who could do that back then ?
I noted that in recent video collaboration with JYP, Moonbyul didn't seem to like wearing a short dress yet here she was 4+ years ago being OK with it. How things change :-)
