@@TheSegui That's kind of dumb. It's unfit for service because there was a change in uniform or failed to meet requirements of new military standards. It's still perfectly good for a civilian to use. Waste not want not and recoup some of that spent tax money.

I think it's absolutely incredible that this video about surplus kit is appropriately filmed on a surplus camera from 2001. Joking aside, great video. I've got a soft-spot for our domestic surplus kit.
This was awesome to watch. Brought back memories of getting issues all your kit at once and the logic of CF sizing - Ridiculous and Fucking Ridiculous.
I had a few military duffle bags. Mine were not those kind you zip up. The end opens up, where you put everything in it. There were hole rings on the end with a long narrow ring you put through the hole rings to close it and you clip it with the carabiner clip on the end of the shoulder strap, used to carry the bag over your shoulder. I had a black bag and "army green" bag made of good canvas and another "army green" bag made with this plastic-like material, which can rip much easier than the canvas ones. I still have the black canvas one. I love those bags!
Back in the 80s we swapped out our excellent wool shirts for this acrylic abomination that didn't keep you warm , wet or dry . Wool is way under rated .
The jacket with the back cut out is for recruit ID photos which have to be done first before they are issued kit, they do up the front and the guy just steps into the back, quick photo and "Next Please".
That's the kit I was issued at BMQ in 2006 and Man does our gear last a freaking long time. I still have most of that crate for fishing, camping and everything in between.
12:05 I think that was a crew suit issued to armoured crews. Difficult to tell from the video, but a flight suit usually has hard plastic pen holders on the sleeve which I couldn't see here. Also, the stretchy pants were indeed maternity wear.
I turned in two pairs of newly issued boots that I hadn’t even worn once. The stores guy used a hole punch and punched out a single hole in the top of the tongues on each boot and they were thrown in the surplus bin. So you can sometimes get very lucky with “used” surplus kit.

The navy has Whites dress uniform and black uniform (call salt & pepper). They also have the navy combats uniform for garrison work or at sea made of Nomex. CAF also has pregnant pants and tops for women on their last trimester, that’s why you got those stretchy pants and the weird top.

I love how the government sells used equipment to the public when the equipment was originally bought with public taxpayers dollars.
Well, that's the idea, the money made on the sale goes back into the government- either to the Treasury Board or back to the department, I'm not sure.
