    After that press conference I bet Chrisjen was a little pissed at herself, thinking "Me. Chrisjen Avasarala, political operator extraordinaire, outmaneuvered by the most honest guy in the system". Then she'd laugh "James Holden, you son of a bitch. I didn't think you had it in you".

    I like how they stack exciting climaxes one atop the other this episode, and then somehow make the most exciting moment come during a press conference. And you're absolutely right - the belt needed a clear win for the story to end in a way that made any sense.

    I definitely thought they were setting up for Bobbie to die. So, it was a pleasant surprise that we didn't lose anybody major in the finale.
    (and the easter egg of the names for the members of the strike team being all famous sci-fi characters was just awesome)

      Seems they were only using armour piercing rounds on the npcs & not Bobbi or Amos because after getting hit multiple times each they only had bruises so they definately had plot armour (no pun intended) as did Drummer during her fight against Marco imho.

      I was very nervous as a book-reader. Yes, Alex died due to off-screen issues, but with a seventh season not confirmed, there seemed no reason to not kill off anyone...especially one specific character.

      @@AT-rr2xw That and the way they did Fred's death in the show, it was a surprise.

    That was the most Holden move ever!
    The mini story on laconia isnt really in the books, it is its their own novella but really are just set up for a potential S7 or movie in the future

    Thanks for joining us on this journey! It was amazing for me from the first scene to the last one. Didn't find any scene that disappointed me, other than the fact that it is over now.

    The ending of season 6 is how I felt at the end of season 3 when they canceled the show. It was a satisfying ending and I liked they made it open ended if other networks pick up the franchise or there's a spin off.

    Probably the beat scifi show in probably 20yrs. It's thoughtful, it has kickass action, it has intrigue, it builds a world that feels lived in, memorable characters, pathos, humor. And, as all good sci-fi, it reflects on our own culture, our own moment it time and how we behave. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
    Now read the books! 😂😂😉

    Gotta love that list of names of the attack force. It's basically every badass name you want. Hicks, Shepard, Ripley, etc, etc.

    On the whole I agree it was a satisfying conclusion to the show - I just feel like we got a bit short-changed by the shortened season.
    The producers said they deliberately left the Laconia storyline hanging because they wanted someone else who potentially extends the TV series through the rest of the book series to have some plot threads to start from - I haven't read them yet but apparently the Laconia stuff becomes pretty important in later books.

    • @AT-rr2xw
      @AT-rr2xw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that ending the Laconia storyline like that was a display of confidence bordering on overconfidence. The novella ended the same way, but there was the explicit promise of a seventh book. There is no such promise of a seventh season, just coy non-hints.

      @Brendissimo1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I was really happy with the Laconia stuff being included, even if we never get a further adaptation. If people want to know what happens, they should read the books - I'm working my way through book 6 right now. But regardless, what's happening on Laconia is obviously crucial to the larger ongoing story, and I would rather see something about it than nothing. Plot threads that don't get wrapped up don't bother me, that's what we get when we stop 2/3 of the way through. Laconia isn't the only hanging thread, by far. And there is value in the depiction alone.

    • @ponfed
      @ponfed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah.. Laconia is the last three books. 20 yrs later. It kicks ass, but it's a different feel... I think it's good that they left it out. I couldn't bear CG aging... but in a few years, or maybe with different actors.. it's all open.

    12:00-when I met Steven Strait and Wes Chatham at NYCC last year, and I was saying I can't wait to see who blows Marco away.....I Ididn't think it'd be like this!!

    One of the greatest shows of all time. Bittersweet to see it end, but I doubt it will be the end of this story.

    If you go back to season 1, episode 1, the Belter Avasarala had on hooks was seeking out Mars stealth tech. Seems likely Marco was the villain from the start.
    Did you watch the extras?
    My favourite character from the series is Drummer. She doesn't exist in the books and Cara Gee just ran with it.
    I'd love it if you read the books because then you'd get the full arc for Amos. I'd be curious what your take on it would be.

    I agree the show got better with each season. Maybe they could bring it it back with only a 5 year time jump not a 20 like the books. When you do your 50 favorite characters you should put your favorite clip of them with it eg, Amos suplex

    10:24, wasn't that the status quo set in season 4 finale? Don't remember the Martians obligating for warfare or more ships.

    I the end, on center of the ring, you can see alien-rogue-martian ship Magnetar class and entities inside ring wake up.

    Pretty satisfying ending that also left open the possibility for something in the future. Must admit, i'm _slightly_ in two minds about no one major dying - absolutely didn't want to lose anyone (especially the two most likely to die, Bobby and Amos) so on one hand i'm happy. But it kinda felt like maybe we _should've_ ?
    That tiny note aside (and as I say, i'm not even sure myself), great end to a great show.

    I wish people would understand Holdens character more but everyone seems to gloss over him so much, but to be fair he was done better in the books in my opinion. He is still the core and compass of the crew and is crucial to the plot. He has a bit of a extreme point in season 2 compared to book 2 which I didn’t like and also that he didn’t get to go to the Agatha King, but regardless he is my favourite character of all time.

    man do you have any tips on how to get into that show? i've watched half a s1 and i just cant seem to get into it...its so ....anti climatic? i feel like iam missing out but i just can't get into it...

      Tips. Yes. Make it through season 1 😂
      I felt the exact same way. Like it was just dragging nowhere fast but it does get really good.

    • @MFBloosh

      Season 1 is the "worst" season. Mainly because it drags out the first book, which storyline finally wraps up in the middle of season 2. I didn't get hooked until then. Every season has gotten better and better. Definitely the most grounded, realistic space epic that I've ever watched and you're missing out if you don't at least finish the first season and continue from there.

    • @zammmerjammer
      @zammmerjammer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      By the end of season 1 is when the main mystery all comes together. And by the middle of season 2 the whole show gets AMAZING and just TAKES OFF!!!
      (season 1 has the job of a lot of character introductions and world building, so I guess I can see why some people find it slow... but once that groundwork has been laid, the show goes nuts).

      It took me 2 or 3 tries to get past episode 2 without falling asleep and I wasn't sold on the premise until somewhere around episode 6. The beginning is just _really_ slow because it's a mix between the setup of a sci-fi movie and a noir novel, so it drags on and on until you start getting a better idea of all the moving parts and where they are going to clash in order to get close to the promise of an interplanetary war.

    They should have done more to develop the Laconia storyline last season or they should have dropped it from this season. Unfortunately by killing off Alex, they had to cut most of the Laconia build up. That's said, the final season was solid. I hope the last 3 books get adapted a some point.
    Overall, the only season that didn't really work for me was season 4. I thoroughly enjoyed every other season.

    • @MFBloosh
      @MFBloosh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I feel like they kept the Laconia stuff because it could possibly lead to a spin off, or even pick back up if the series is ever renewed to finish out the books.
