When you started The Expanse I knew you would love it and coming to the end it’s been amazing watching you get more attached to the characters and story. With only six episodes in this season they did such a great job. Ending with the Roci flying away into the expanse of space was perfect. I really hope they adapt the remaining books.
It's been great watching you two enjoy this series. One of the best science fiction has to offer. They did what they could with six episodes they had and I think they did it justice. I still have some hope that we'll get the last three books some day in some form.
Everything about this finale was perfect, the soundtrack was amazing, the right amount of action and emotion, a truly satisfying ending, probably one of the best finales of any TV show ever!

I didn't know how they were going to be able to condense the book down to just six episodes and bring the series to a satisfying conclusion. They exceeded my expectations in every way. This was such a perfect and satisfying conclusion. There are loose ends for sure, but luckily the books exist and they're well worth reading. Besides, leaving the Cara story in made me curious, so I read the entire book series this year after the show ended. So it worked as an advertisement if nothing else.
Just an Easter egg, but the screen readout of all the people who went in the drop pods has them named after sci-fi authors and sci-fi action heroes (Will Riker from star trek, commander Shepard from mass effect, Bowman from 2001 a space odyssey, Johnny Rico from starship troopers, Jack O'Neil from stargate, and Cooper from interstellar to name just a few)

They absolutely nailed the landing with this finale. I love that this season has had so many callbacks to previous seasons- the scientists on Ilus and Ganymede helping, the ice hauler is the same type as the Canterbury, the ground assault used containers like the attack on the protomolecule station, Bobbie's charge on the railgun reactor is the same as the training exercise that introduced her, Amos and Bobbie getting illuminated by the Roci like James did at the start of the season and the Pella disguising itself as a freighter like the Roci did
I remember when you posted the first reaction months ago, it really surprised me because I had been planning to rewatch this show, and here we are at the end and I'm crying like it's the first time. Thank you for reacting to one of my favoirte shows, it's been a real joy.

Delighted to see here reaction to the finale, and the show overall. It's one of the most satisfying endings to a tv show that I can think of. Sure, there were bits that could have been done differently, and the season could have been a bit longer to give us more of the quiet moments, but they did a great job nailing the important parts. A tricky balance of wrapping up the main storylines, while leaving it open for more, and all the while the principal characters stayed true to their nature. Big shout out for the great score in the last episode too. Really packed an emotional punch at the end. And a tip of the hat for Naomi's scream at the thought of having killed her own son to end the war (apparently an improvised moment). Really wish there were more episodes to come, but if this is the end of the Expanse on screen, then it was a brilliant run.

I agree. Right as Marco gets hit by the Ring Entities he turns toward the camera. I think he is actually looking in the direction where Filip was sitting and in that moment of death his last realisation was that his son had left. As Drummer said... Live Shamed, and Die Empty.

I enjoyed your reactions to this series. I discovered this show at the start of the year and it easily became my top 5 shows of all time I'm glad you guys enjoyed the show too. It's rare for shows to be good from start to finish and this show was that, it is such a gem. There's rumors that more seasons are on the way and I hope they're true, but all good things come to an end.

The Laconia stuff from the Strange Dogs novella is included in this season to have some sort of continuation of the storyline from season 5 where the rogue martians took the protomolecule that Marco got for them through the Laconia ring and told Marco to stay out. This season shows what happens when you bring the protomolecule to Laconia. Things wake up just like they did on Illus. Those strange dogs are clearly protomolecule related in some way so they must have been woken up when the protomolecule sample was brought there. But that's not the reason the Laconians brought the protomolecule there. That reason probably has something to do with that thing up in orbit that Duarte is staring at
It's not clear from the show, but when ships disappear and get eaten up by the aliens, the people are still completely conscious throughout the process, though they are unable to move.
There are three more books after this, that's why it feels like plot threads are unresolved. The last three books are probably the best books too, but would need an insane budget to put to screen properly.
I feel like if the season hadn't been shortened by Covid and budget issues, the dinner scene would have been the end of episode 9. I'll miss your reactions to the show. It's been a fun ride...thanks!
Even on the - what? - maybe 5th or 6th time, I still lost it at those same moments that you did. I am gonna miss these actors and characters so much. I mean, there are a couple of other great reactors on season 3 right now, so... but it's been an absolute pleasure watching it with you guys. You should read the books and finish the story though. the last 3 books are great, especially book 8, but the *ending* ending...they absolutely nailed it and the epilog is just *chef's kiss*! Great reactions for this amazing series.There are so many good things about this show, and they managed a perfect series finale, wrapping it all up and still leaving room for the remaining storyline of the last three books. This is how you do SciFi, this is how to do special effects, this is how you write strong female characters. These are the characters and stories the fans want. I would also recommend for you FireFly (13 episodes and a movie) more great spaceship crew and stories. Also, BattleStar Galactica (4 seasons) has an amazing story, complex characters, redemption arcs and lots of plot twists. Looking forward to more of your reactions.

The Cara and Xan scenes are from later books (7 thru 9). You don’t see them in book 6. I think (or rather hope) the show runners added these scenes to open the door for future seasons if there ever is an opportunity to make them.

Glad I went through this journey with you guys. I remember being bitter about the ending... I waited so long for season 6 just to get so few episodes and while IT IS a very good episode... It's the final episode of a SEASON, not the final episode of a show. I just want to point out that the audiobooks are really good, all the laconia things with Xen is super relevant to the last 3 books but yeah, it served no real purpose for the show. You can ABSOLUTELY go from watching the show to book 7, the ONLY difference you'll face is going to be the fact that Alex is alive and Camina wasn't the first president of the transport union, but she IS the active president at the start of book 7. All the rest is pretty much new exposition because everything is so new from the time jump. Anyway glad you liked the show, I discovered your channel from the Arcane react videos and was very happy you decided to watch the expanse. One if not my favorite show :)
I think there might be an interesting suggestion in the fact that we see in this episode that Clarissa only has 5 years to live. It's true that in the books there is a 30 year gap between book 6 and 7. But, (very minor spoiler) Clarissa is there in book 7, 30 years later. So, could this be the show runners suggesting that the jump for the show would be less than 30? Say, I don't know, something more like 4 or 5 years? Maybe it's just wishful thinking. Anyways, I absolutely loved your reaction to this show. I've watched the show 3 times, read the books, and watched numerous reactors, yet you two have given me new insights and somehow made me love the show even more. Thanks! And another good science fiction show I think you'd like is Firefly. Though it is gut wrenchingly short.

i ended up Audio booking the whole series before the final season and book. It's interesting to see the differences. Also, it's worth doing just to hear the ending of the last book.
Ever notice that the "dogs'" heads are shaped a lot like the "robo-Miller" thing from season 4? They even make sounds in the same way, by vibrating the little structures on their heads. The dogs were proto-molecule tech that were awakened when Cortizar and Duarte started reactivating other proto-molecule tech around the planet using the live sample stolen from Fred Johnson.
I love the expanse and loved your reactions to it! You are among my favorite reactors cause you are both insightful when analyzing but also very expressive with your emotions. It's a joy to re-experience shows I love with you! As a recommendation for recent good sci-fi shows, I think you will really enjoy the :"Lost in Space" reboot on Netflix. I highly recommend it.
Great job on reacting to the series. I used it as an opportunity to watch it again. I'd like to recommend Station Eleven if you haven't already watched it. I think I have only seen one channel react to it. I imagine it is because it is so different from the typical apocalypse genre. But it is such a unique, beautiful and touching show with a completely different vision and depiction of an "end of the world" scenario. And it received a lot of critical acclaim. I think you guys would love it and do it justice.

You know, I've seen people say this before, but watching on Amazon, I've never seen anything after or during the credits. It just goes to back to the menu/list of shows.

I was surprised that nothing was done to tie the events on Laconia to the larger plot of the show. It was almost like they were setting up future seasons, but perhaps it was an image to the remainder of the books.
How you name them "Your Bravest," it inspires a hope to be the same for someone. I hope we all share another season someday, but the books still exist, if not.

This was a fantastic ending, just like book 6 has this fantastic ending. I hope we get seasons 7 through 9 or that you two read books 7 through 9. As you've realised, all the Laconia stuff is continued in the future books, this was the setup in the short story Strange Dogs along with a little more as a taster. I love how the Duarte said "you were a useful distraction". That was Laconia's plan all along, use the Free Navy to keep everyone occupied with Martian ships and weapons until Laconia is ready to close themselves off. They have people, ships, Cortizar, the protomolecule sample and some strange thing above the planet they've managed to turn on... can't be good! :) Your reactions have been amazing, I still cry at all the same points! And it's so good to see some real analysis and discussion before and after. Plus, I've been waiting to say this for 6 seasons, you are so often right with your predictions!!! Well done!!! So, the rights to adapt The Expanse lapse in a couple of years. We've seen The Rings of Power, we've seen House of the Dragon, and we're seeing a lot of new streaming services arise who will be looking for a new flagship. The Expanse, unlike Game of Thrones is finished now, and it's a pretty good ending, and there's a bunch of short stories they can adapt to fill in any gaps. Whilst the viewing figures were never what was hoped, the show is very highly regarded and I think a return might well get higher figures. I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but I think it's too soon to write off this show. I don't think we'll see a thirty year break between the last season and a new season, but, five or six years or so? Maybe. That would give Clarissa time to still to be alive.

A tricky balance of wrapping up the main storylines, while leaving it open for more, and all the while the principal characters stayed true to their nature.
Big shout out for the great score in the last episode too. Really packed an emotional punch at the end. And a tip of the hat for Naomi's scream at the thought of having killed her own son to end the war (apparently an improvised moment).
Really wish there were more episodes to come, but if this is the end of the Expanse on screen, then it was a brilliant run.

I agree. Right as Marco gets hit by the Ring Entities he turns toward the camera. I think he is actually looking in the direction where Filip was sitting and in that moment of death his last realisation was that his son had left. As Drummer said... Live Shamed, and Die Empty.

I enjoyed your reactions to this series. I discovered this show at the start of the year and it easily became my top 5 shows of all time I'm glad you guys enjoyed the show too. It's rare for shows to be good from start to finish and this show was that, it is such a gem. There's rumors that more seasons are on the way and I hope they're true, but all good things come to an end.

The Laconia stuff from the Strange Dogs novella is included in this season to have some sort of continuation of the storyline from season 5 where the rogue martians took the protomolecule that Marco got for them through the Laconia ring and told Marco to stay out.
This season shows what happens when you bring the protomolecule to Laconia. Things wake up just like they did on Illus. Those strange dogs are clearly protomolecule related in some way so they must have been woken up when the protomolecule sample was brought there.
But that's not the reason the Laconians brought the protomolecule there. That reason probably has something to do with that thing up in orbit that Duarte is staring at

It's not clear from the show, but when ships disappear and get eaten up by the aliens, the people are still completely conscious throughout the process, though they are unable to move.

There are three more books after this, that's why it feels like plot threads are unresolved. The last three books are probably the best books too, but would need an insane budget to put to screen properly.

Even on the - what? - maybe 5th or 6th time, I still lost it at those same moments that you did. I am gonna miss these actors and characters so much. I mean, there are a couple of other great reactors on season 3 right now, so... but it's been an absolute pleasure watching it with you guys. You should read the books and finish the story though. the last 3 books are great, especially book 8, but the *ending* ending...they absolutely nailed it and the epilog is just *chef's kiss*! The Expanse has my whole heart and it pisses me off how much underrated it is both by critics and general public.
Well done girls. Great reactions for this amazing series.There are so many good things about this show, and they managed a perfect series finale, wrapping it all up and still leaving room for the remaining storyline of the last three books. This is how you do SciFi, this is how to do special effects, this is how you write strong female characters. These are the characters and stories the fans want. I would also recommend for you FireFly (13 episodes and a movie) more great spaceship crew and stories. Also, BattleStar Galactica (4 seasons) has an amazing story, complex characters, redemption arcs and lots of plot twists. Looking forward to more of your reactions.

The Cara and Xan scenes are from later books (7 thru 9). You don’t see them in book 6. I think (or rather hope) the show runners added these scenes to open the door for future seasons if there ever is an opportunity to make them.
The Cara and Xan scenes are from the Novella "Strange Dogs" which fits between book 6 and book 7.
One of my very favorite series ever. Ever since it ended I have missed looking forward to new episodes. I loved this crew as much as I loved the One Piece Strawhats

Glad I went through this journey with you guys. I remember being bitter about the ending... I waited so long for season 6 just to get so few episodes and while IT IS a very good episode... It's the final episode of a SEASON, not the final episode of a show. I just want to point out that the audiobooks are really good, all the laconia things with Xen is super relevant to the last 3 books but yeah, it served no real purpose for the show. You can ABSOLUTELY go from watching the show to book 7, the ONLY difference you'll face is going to be the fact that Alex is alive and Camina wasn't the first president of the transport union, but she IS the active president at the start of book 7. All the rest is pretty much new exposition because everything is so new from the time jump. Anyway glad you liked the show, I discovered your channel from the Arcane react videos and was very happy you decided to watch the expanse. One if not my favorite show :)
I think there might be an interesting suggestion in the fact that we see in this episode that Clarissa only has 5 years to live. It's true that in the books there is a 30 year gap between book 6 and 7. But, (very minor spoiler) Clarissa is there in book 7, 30 years later. So, could this be the show runners suggesting that the jump for the show would be less than 30? Say, I don't know, something more like 4 or 5 years? Maybe it's just wishful thinking. Anyways, I absolutely loved your reaction to this show. I've watched the show 3 times, read the books, and watched numerous reactors, yet you two have given me new insights and somehow made me love the show even more. Thanks! And another good science fiction show I think you'd like is Firefly. Though it is gut wrenchingly short.

Ever notice that the "dogs'" heads are shaped a lot like the "robo-Miller" thing from season 4? They even make sounds in the same way, by vibrating the little structures on their heads. The dogs were proto-molecule tech that were awakened when Cortizar and Duarte started reactivating other proto-molecule tech around the planet using the live sample stolen from Fred Johnson.

Great job on reacting to the series. I used it as an opportunity to watch it again. I'd like to recommend Station Eleven if you haven't already watched it. I think I have only seen one channel react to it. I imagine it is because it is so different from the typical apocalypse genre. But it is such a unique, beautiful and touching show with a completely different vision and depiction of an "end of the world" scenario. And it received a lot of critical acclaim. I think you guys would love it and do it justice.

People live longer in the setting than in real life. Maybe they can get away with resuming the series after a 20 year interlude. Or 15? Or 10?

I was surprised that nothing was done to tie the events on Laconia to the larger plot of the show. It was almost like they were setting up future seasons, but perhaps it was an image to the remainder of the books.

This was a fantastic ending, just like book 6 has this fantastic ending. I hope we get seasons 7 through 9 or that you two read books 7 through 9. As you've realised, all the Laconia stuff is continued in the future books, this was the setup in the short story Strange Dogs along with a little more as a taster.
I love how the Duarte said "you were a useful distraction". That was Laconia's plan all along, use the Free Navy to keep everyone occupied with Martian ships and weapons until Laconia is ready to close themselves off. They have people, ships, Cortizar, the protomolecule sample and some strange thing above the planet they've managed to turn on... can't be good! :)

So, the rights to adapt The Expanse lapse in a couple of years. We've seen The Rings of Power, we've seen House of the Dragon, and we're seeing a lot of new streaming services arise who will be looking for a new flagship.
The Expanse, unlike Game of Thrones is finished now, and it's a pretty good ending, and there's a bunch of short stories they can adapt to fill in any gaps. Whilst the viewing figures were never what was hoped, the show is very highly regarded and I think a return might well get higher figures. I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but I think it's too soon to write off this show. I don't think we'll see a thirty year break between the last season and a new season, but, five or six years or so? Maybe. That would give Clarissa time to still to be alive.
