    How about show the top end and bottom end of the supercharger and not just the part that looks the best. My take on the debate is if you want to blow the tires off at every light and break parts fast get a supercharger. If you want leave a light fast and then blow the tires off at 70 mph and wreck the whole car get a turbo.

    • @3star2nr
      @3star2nr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Its a s550... Nothing is gonna break. Thats why its an s550.
      As for your argument there is some validity to it, but the turbo car in this example is kind of a bad example. The owner wants to have that late spool, and I'm guessing hes running low compression pistons hence the reason for the low power down low and that steep ramp up.
      It's not the best combination from a strictly performance stand point but its gonna be a wild ride...
      The vmp gen 3 is specifically designed to NOT lose high RPM power look at the torque curve. It's a monster of a blower. And works really well with the high reving nature of the coyote.
      I also suspect they are running high compression pistons and lower boost. You make the same power but the throttle response is monsterous

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3star2nr to add to your points people think supercharger means low end and no top end and turbos are the opposite but that isn't necessarily the case with either. Depends on the sizing relative to the motor and how efficient they are. The 2650 is very efficient and has killer power everywhere. A properly sized pair of turbos with good tuning can also have a wide powerband. Even with two small turbos with badass response it will never have the response that supercharger does. It literally feels na you never feel it "kick in" it kicks in when you kick the throttle down literally instantly. Makes it feel like a built out the ass big block with the drive ability of a stock coyote. What's not to like there? For an all out race built turbos are better for a street car the tvs is hard to beat but either can do well in either scenario set up properly. There's been some pretty fast tvs cars.

    I wish I had the money for these huge power build., I for a stock engine prefer the Vortech due to it's progressive boost nature which is less harsh on components (stock engine). In my previous Mustang I had no problem keeping up with or beating positive displacement blown cars and they had issues with heat soak where I did not. This was in a 3V 2006 GT that ran 12.1@115 bone stock with a Vortech V2. There are pros and cons for everything so for my needs the Vortech will suffice, with a much bigger budget I'd go twin turbo and would love to go with VMP, their work is awesome.

    The twin turbo car is built to be a dyno queen, in real life I personally wouldnt use turbos with a trim like that. Smaller turbos are way better you want to fully spool by 3500. That will make more useable power...
    I think between the two the vmp gen 3 is the better way to go. That torque curve is incredible... Thats a very very fast car! And just from looking at the curve more of the vehicle id want to drive.
    Also having less parts makes the system cheaper overall to maintain and trouble shoot in the long run.

  • @PeeterPuncher

    If you take the same exact engines, run the same boost, one on turbos and one with a S/C, the turbo engine will make more power every time. Both are cool but many don't realize the supercharger takes 150-180 HP to turn at high engine speeds, plus all the torsionals on the front snout of the crankshaft takes it's toll. A turbo engine will ultimately last longer.

      Turbos will blow past your superchargers on the top end on the big end which is the most important.
      No supercharger on earth looks cooler than a twin turbo setup. Not in my opinion anyway.
      A properly brake boosted or 2-stepped turbo vehicle will still blow past your supercharger on the lower-end also. It's not the turbos fault that the driver doesn't know how to drive.
      If you want ultimate power go turbo. Displacement is what matters and even the biggest over 4 liter superchargers can still be out displaced by turbos.

    Idk hard to choose between both because for one if you go turbo,the sound of turbos spooling sounds awesome and you do get a lot of top end power but it really quiets down your exhaust,and with a supercharger you get full boost as soon as you put your foot down the pedal,and you still have all the exhaust noise but you don't get as good top end power compared to turbo charging your car. Like I said it's very hard to choose what I would go with

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These 2650s have plenty of top end power. People need to stop thinking like supercharger means no top end that isn't the case with these modern blowers. As for turbo car being quiet I would run a complete straight exhaust with a turbo setup. Sounds badass. For a street car the tvs is alot better imo. If it's quarter mile car only you can ultimately go faster with turbos.

      Hey Billy. With the Coyote, we're limited to right around 700+/- rwhp on 93 pump fuel. The knock resistance of 93 won't handle much, if anything more. With a return style fuel system and E85, you're opened up to 800rwhp and above.

      Do 93 and boostane. Boostane is fairly convenient and the price isn't that bad (145 bucks for an 8 pack of premium on ebay) which is about 16 a bottle. One bottle per full tank. It will get you a decent bit of headroom above 93 only and you could prob Crack your goal with the right supporting mods. Adding 16 to each tank isnt that bad considering it turns 93 octane into 100 octane lol. It's like little over a dollar per gallon more which is a bargain plus like I said its convenient just keep a few in the trunk and add whenever you fill up. Pretty simple.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A properly sized turbo will have more headroom. A tiny one won't make the power. If it isn't an all out race car the tvs is easily the better choice especially for street cars. They can still go PLENTY fast and make PLENTY of power obviously. More trouble free it's just all around better for a street car like you said.

  • @insaneTrout

    I feel like that difference in power is the parasitic loss in power from the supercharger. But I am also curious what these same kits would do on an F150 in a drag race launched in 4wd. I feel like the supercharged one would win but idk

    Right but one makes little TQ and the other one makes LOTS of TQ..... on pump gas 93 octane. Anything will make a lot of power on E85 and the blower needs to be spun so fast and have a smallest pull to do so. Turbo..... jus turn the boost up or down. And one gets terrible heat-soak and one never gets heat-soak! With modern Turbo's they come on INSTANTLY!

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These blowers are efficient they don't get "horrible heat soak". Turbos are known for running hot and making your engine bay hot af to the point people put blankets over them lol. These modern tvs blowers are not the stock blower on 03 cobras. They don't have "horrible heat soak" with proper cooling. I seen the gen3r ran near 800 wheel with a fairly small pulley on an older gt500 back to back to back and it was within 5 hp. That is pretty efficient.
      Turbos are more of a headache and less "trouble free" in nature. For an all out race car Turbos are better for a street car it's hard to beat the tvs.

    • @TENNESSEETRACKHAWK
      @TENNESSEETRACKHAWK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You know how, like you are racing someone and you got him off the line, and your like, wow I'm taking this guy pretty good. Then all of a sudden, he goes blowing by you? well, that's what my turbo's will do, just keep pulling and pulling. I have both blower and Turbo vehicles. I didn't hear anything about boost numbers, and or boost control settings, maybe i missed it. In your dyno results, it appears the blower gets some instant torque, and steady power, only to go flat in torque and stops short on horsepower where the turbo's didn't. I'd bet at the track the twin turbo gets a higher MPH and passes up the blower car. Have you ever run these two against another. Then you have weight in the scenario. In the end, they are both equally as fun to drive, just in different ways.
