Me and my Japanese girlfriend and I grew up as babies together for the first 6 yrs. of our lives. Our Fathers were in the military. They both were being reassigned, and told us. We both cried, and for several years, I was angry with my Father. Our Mothers told us that we could give our hearts to each other. Kim, was adopted by her Father. Everything in their house was Japanese. My Mother was German, our house was a little Germany.
this song takes me back being stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for 4 years. one of those giant step a man can take of being in the US armed forces. I think back now and glad that I took that step.. I'm native American (Navajo) 20 year Navy vet. Thank you for the song Mr Buck Owens. had a girlfriend there but never amounted to anything because of our cultural differences. loved their culture, food and especially climbing Mt. Fuji 2 times..
Mr.Woods,i too had the chance to join the United States Navy, and i was also stationed in Yokosuka,Japan ,was there in73-75,took me a awhile to adjust, but after ,i really enjoyed my time there, after a 3-4 month deployment was so glad to see Mt.Fuji,as we got closer, there was another song that was recored by Mel Tillis ,(State Side) was also being played at that time,we couldnt wait till we got to the E.M club, like you,i enjoyed my time there,i was stationed on the U.S.S.Rowan DD-782,loved being stationed on a rusty tin-can,eaos was up in76...discharged Sept.1979...what memories, country boy from Alabama⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
My brother always questioned why I married a girl from Tokyo. Sent him this video 39 years after the fact but he finally understands. Good enough for Buck, good enough for me. I'm a pickin' and I'm a grinnin'!
The very first time I heard this was from jackass the movie ever since I heard it I've been looking for it and I found this video that had it thank you.👍
