    Thanks for the video! Just did it the other day and feels great. The old transmission fluid definitely looked ancient. Replaced the o ring for sure because the original one was dried out and felt brittle.

      Nicely done and great call on the o ring: worth a few bucks for piece of mind. Enjoy the next 20 years on your Toyota!

    28 ft pounds torque for the drain plug

    @LAwrx03 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    So, according to the manual the car should be level when changing the fluid to avoid overfilling the trans.
    Also, there is a fill hole about halfway up the side of the trans that is used to check the fluid level and make sure you've put in the right amount.

      Sure thing. This is the easy way. If you've drained the transmission and know the amount to go back in, you should be good. Transmission shifts beautifully.

    The text that comes up at 5:15 is talking about how many miles are on my MR2 Spyder.

    I had music playing in the background and a copyright infringement came up, so there's a bit of silence in a few spaces, and some reggae music that starts at 4:16 to appease.

    Very good tutorial, the best I could find. Do you know the diameter of the filler and drain plug gaskets ? Btw I was completely unable to remove the cap of the oil receiver at 3:45 using your technique. So I will probably fill oil from the filler plug using an oil pump.

    • @wellingtonviking
      @wellingtonviking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t have the dimensions of the gasket sorry: size 18 from dealer. You could use the pump as you mentioned, or you could drain with the bottom drain plug and fill to where it starts coming out of the top fill plug up a few inches on the transmission. Good idea not to force things.

      @@bibana06 I was unable to remove the cap either. I filled it from the filler plug last time, but I heard that the O-ring should be replaced. Otherwise, when the O-ring becomes hardened and stops sealing the transmission, it can let water in and damage the transmission. Have you found a way to remove it?

      @@bilokenneth I actually haven't done thé oil change yet. But I have Heard of that. I will do the change in thé next few weeks and I'll tell you. But I dont think so as thé joint has been replaced a few years ago

    You make it seem very doable. I’ve got some whining going on when cruising, did it help?

    Hi mate, may I ask how much MT-90 you need to fill in the transmission? Is that 1 quart each bottle so 2 quarts in total? Thanks.

      @@wellingtonvikingNo problem mate, mine might need a little bit more than 2 quarts as it's 6 speed according to the mr2 spyder forum here in UK, thanks a lot.

    Thabks for hte vid....how long is the socket extension bar?

    • @wellingtonviking
      @wellingtonviking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Extension was 10" as that's the longest one I have. If you have a longer one, you could get your hand out of the tight area down there.

    I'm sorry but I have to say I hate your car. (Envy)
    I'm from UK so need scrape dry salt and rust away to find my bolts.
    Thanks for taking time to make the vid

      That’s frustrating. Salt is good on the rim of a margarita glass and in the ocean. Not a fan of it on the road.

      Thanks for that boss. It's 2 feet of 1/2" inside diameter hose. Remember, inside diameter, not outside diameter. I got it at Ace Hardware.

    Wld SMT be the same procedure?

    • @wellingtonviking
      @wellingtonviking  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I understand, the SMT uses a different fluid and has a separate reservoir.
