Did one of these the other day and you can get to it from under the engine and you don’t need to take the dpf off. You need to undo the A/c pump to get the bottom bolt out and then you can take it out from the top and replace it with the new one.
For anyone doing this on the 1.4 diesel: Most probably you don't need to replace the alternator, just the controller. It sits behind the black alternator cover. Very tight access. 2 8mm nuts to remove the black cover, unplug the oil sensor (the one with heat foil near the bottom of alternator cover, without it you can't remove the cover), then 3 small 7mm bolts to remove the alternator controller. Replacement part valeo 599240, about 50eur.
Hahaha, I am Oscar not Peter. Me too I am not a fan of citroen, at the moment it is the only car I can afford with the best fuel economy. I prefer Japanese hybrids.
How did you remove the cable at 6:40? I cant seem to get the clip out to remove the cable under the connecter you describe as the main cable that gets charge form the alternator to the battery
@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs hi again, if you pause at 06:45 its the connector directly below the one you mentioned you need a socket for. Just a wire going into a plastic connector. I cant seem to remove it
@@Jisei13 I looked again and there is no other cable connected to the alternator. The cables on top are attached to the bracket and you have to remove them from the bracket.
That car is evil. Trying to replace the alternator controller with the alternator in place. No access. Theres the oil pressure plug that prevents the alternator plastic cover to come out... 1.4 diesel but similar to yours. The turbo clamp you removed is stuck in place in mine.
Very over the top.no need to remove the exhaust.just remove the aircon unit to get to the bottom sleeve 16mm bolt..and also remove the brackets which holds the wiring on top of the alternator..

Thanks mate, mine actually would be easier that way because I removed the a/c pump, it is broken. I use a shorter serpentine belt.

Very interesting, thanks Peter but I’ve never owned a Citroen and not likely to! Thanks

You need a 13mm socket to remove the nut and pull the cable up.
@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs many thanks but its the plastic connector under that one i cant remove.
@@Jisei13 maybe you talking about plastic part that comes out with alternator.

Hiw did you manager to unscrew lower bolt next to DPF..i cannot get to it
Sorry I am not sure which bolts you are talking about
@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs the last bolt that's fix alternator. In the bottom, from DPF side
@lubelska17 have you removed the one from front by the belt?
@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs yes, remaining 3 bolts i already removed
@@lubelska17 so why can't you remove the last bolt? Do you have enough space for the socket to go in?
What size are the engine mount torx bolts
Hi,

All good, but what engine is this?
It's a 1.6hdi 2013 model.
Did wifes yesterday didnt have to remove engine mount to get tensioner off

Can you not just go though wheel arch?
Maybe you could, anyway is possible
Is this MK3?

🤣🤣 it's a struggle bro, hopefully you will sort it out.
@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs I'm on it right now... If I remove the oil sensor hopefully there is access.
Did 1 of these today the man that designed to put that alternator there needs a kicking😠

True mate, I was doing it for the first time. Now I know and thank you for the advice. 👍
Are you a mechanic or diy mechanic
@@manjlal7972 this dude is a diy guy

Less space, but it can be done.
