Hello there guys,
Scotty says cars are money pits🤣. Yes they are money pits if you don't fix them yourself. In this channel we see how we can cut costs by fixing cars ourselves.
If I can do it, trust me, you can definitely do it. Research and always ask a professional to help if you fail.
Please, guys, be careful when working under the car! It is the only thing that risks a serious injury or even death.
Peace ✌

My Little Helper - Driving Experience
You've seen him, working with me or holding the camera for me. He is my little helper. I started getting him involved in cars and helping me when he was just 5 years old.
He is a big boy now, and he is actually taller than me.
One day, he said to me he could drive.
So, I bought him a " junior driving experience" gift voucher at Everyman Racetrack.
It was an excellent experience, and we all enjoyed seeing him driving.
We hope you will enjoy the video and if you have any questions, please let's us know below.

Pollen filter replacement AFTER MAIN DEALER SERVICE!

Hello there, I took the car for service at the main dealer. However, to my surprise, the pollen filter hasn't been replaced. Be careful out there. Some mechanics are dishonest! We need to check if our cars have been well serviced after the job has been carried out by our mechanics! As usual, please comment if you see errors or mistakes. All advice is considered.

The size of the magnetic oil drain plugs I replaced is M18 x 1.5MM. I bought them on ebay. The kia e-niro is at 72,000 miles now. I have done less than 500 miles after a brand new gearbox/transaxel was installed. So I thought it would be a good idea to check if the oil contamination is taking place. Hi mate, Citroen C4 Grand Picasso MK2 1.6bluehdi 2015 The car has an Addblue system . My question : Can I use DPF cleaner different company to clean my DPF ? BOLL DPF CLEANER 400ml + extension nozzle?
@lukas11ism Yes, as long as it is made for cleaning dpf is good. I top up adblue and clean my adblue injector twice a year, and I spray the dpf cleaner 3 times in a year and only when the car is cold and leave it for at least an hour to break the black soot. Then drive it as normal. If you spray it when the car is hot, it seems to evaporate before it breaks the blockage. Do this, and you will never have fault codes.

To be fair to the Dealers. I understand that you were not charged for a Pollen Filter? The service schedule does specify changing it every 2 years or 24,000 miles so you could look at your previous service bills to see when you were last charged for a filter?
@richardhaywoodh Hi, I've been informed that it gets replaced every 20k miles. I will keep updating you and thank you.
I like watching your videos but I’m afraid you got this completely wrong. That filter was really not so bad. If it was the original factory filter as you suggested, it would have been completely black by now. It was probably replaced during the previous service at 60k. The schedule says replace it every 20k miles. So that means 20, 40, 60, 80k mile services. So as this was 70k service, it was quite correct that the filter was not replaced. It will be done at the next service 80k miles. Far be it by me to defend car stealerships, but you repeatedly say it’s all a scam in your videos, yet actually everything you showed us is correct. Plus the fee you were charged is very cheap. Yes they don’t appear to have done much, but it takes time to inspect everything, tyres, pressures, tread, wipers, brake fluid, coolant, washer fluid, etc, all takes some time. You probably paid for maybe 30 minutes labour, which frankly isn’t bad at all IMHO. Sorry but it has to be said. Take care.
Bro, the video is good for both the customer and the mechanics because I think he is trying to encourage us to check if the service is done properly. That filter is a minor thing but from now on, I will check if my car has been serviced properly. Remember, if our cars don't break down, mechanics will not be happy!
@ThePrawlin To be honest with you, I didn't know that they change it every 20k miles. I hope they will do it on the next service. Thanks mate. All the best 👍
@creativeminds7079 Keep checking, thanks.
Not being funny, but the pollen filter has always been an optional extra. The 7th service for it is just an inspection, they dont change oil etc. i know diesels are 20k wyears oil change intervals. 4th and 8th are major service items. Ive yad. A few, i mark items now and check they been done as required. Only reason it goes to dealer is forwarranty.
@robtaylor4462 Understood. I will see what they will do on the next service. I will make a video and use some marks on the under tray and wheel nut to see if there will be any change. Thank you mate.
According to the Kia service schedule this item is replaced every 20k/2 years.

5,000 km ago I replaced the hydraulic pressure in the gearbox. The clutch disk and the diaphragm springs were great. After a few months, when it's cold, the transmission won't go into gear, it's the hardest to get into 1st and reverse. When the car is driven and warmed up, everything works as it should. after 3000 km, the mechanic says that he has to remove the gearbox again. any idea? The clutch pedal works well, soft, the cylinder in the cabin has also been changed...but it won't go into gear when it's cold. Manual transmission, omega b 2.5td 1996/ only 98.000km
@ThePodunavac There could be air still trapped in the hydraulic system. This system has a very weak clutch slave cylinder. Try reverse bleeding. Pump brake fluid backward to reservoir!
Thanks I have exact same engine got engine code on dash, car scanner showed problem with adblue injector stuck open bank 1 , jacked up the car, just an allen key to open the bracket and i found lots of black gunk inside it, I used boiling water to clean it with metal dish washing balls, lucky no crystals maybe partly to using crystal clean additive. Hi there. Following this with interest. I also changed my Eniro oil at only 13k Miles from new. It was black as pitch. Even after standing old oil still in washing up bottle for weeks, it doesn’t settle out at all. Nor does it attract much to a very strong magnet taped to the bottle. I believe the black contamination is aluminium! BTW regarding your conspiracy theory about dealer refusing to fit magnetic drain plug. I believe it is not that they want it to fail (as you suggest). It is simply dealership standard protocol. They are simply not allowed to install any non original make components (even if the replacement component is obviously superior!). This is standard policy with all main dealerships of all makes. I can understand that policy, as it could cause numerous problems with warranty and reliability. I look forward to your next oil change report and if it is any less black this time. Thanks for your interesting videos!
@ThePrawlin 🤣🤣you made me laugh with the conspiracy theory idea. It's just me ranting when things go wrong. Maybe regular oil change may clean up the aluminum. We will see as time goes on.
@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs It's possible that Kia / Hyundai (or maybe just the transmission + motor supplier that they used for the motor + reduction gear) don't want to admit there's a problem officially. In at least some countries if a manufacturer admits there is a design or manufacturing fault, then they become liable to do replacements even for out of warranty cars. It's possible that they've calculated that it's cheaper for them to just do the warranty replacements, instead of change the design and fix the problem fully. They also changed the design completely (different gearbox and motor assembly) for the "second generation" (introduced in 2022 or 2023 depending on country) Kia Niro EV and Hyundai Kona. On the bright side there's already a gearbox specialist in Glasgow who will do a full rebuild on the 2018-2022 Kia E-Niro/Niro-EV and Hyundai Kona gearboxes for £500. Whilst that's not great, replacing a gearbox every 80k miles is a bit like the cost of a clutch replacement - also you've got to remember that most of the cars are driving around with the black+glittery oil like the stuff you just drained for tens of thousands of miles before they fail - so hopefully after a couple of oil changes you'll be OK. I did one oil change at 380 miles and one at 1500 miles - the 1500 mile oil looked way better than the 380 mile oil did. An example of this kind of thing is the Ford Ecoboost petrol engine wet belt failures. In the US, Ford recalled all of the cars, and now in Europe (where they sold a lot more Ecoboost cars) Ford UK/Europe are getting legal threats from owners because Ford US has officially admitted the fault. If Ford US didn't do the recall, then they would have made life easier for Ford Europe/UK.

Thanks
I bought a car with the same problem with the window. Not knowing it had been used as a taxi before. I learnt that the back doors were used much more than the front each day, and the wiring to the loom had become brittle ( from the door to the post) , because of constant bending. I looked and indeed it had fractured and open circuit. Let's hope it's the switch in your case?
@davidbrookes8470 I will get it checked. I think it is a low quality switch because it's been a taxi for just 4 months. Also, it has been sitting on my driveway for 6 weeks waiting for the reduction gearbox and traction motor to be replaced. These cars are very expensive to manufacture, so cutting corners is more likely.
I would strongly advise to continue with the Kia dealership servicing as per the schedule. Otherwise you risk voiding the 7y warranty. Especially so as you appear to do high miles. That new transmission already sounds rather dodgy to me. My 2020 Eniro doesn’t sound like that, but I’m only on 14k miles. How did you record the sound? Was it inside the cab OR under the hood? You saying you can replace the bearings… are you sure? It’s a big engine out job not easy DIY IMHO. Also, the actual motor bearings can fail not just the gearbox bearings! Changing oil regularly does nothing for the motor bearings. How many miles did you do since the new motor/gearbox was fitted?
@@ThePrawlin I put the microphone under the hood to record the sound. Replacing the bearings on both the traction motor and gearbox wouldn't be too hard for me. First oil change was done approximately 1000 miles after getting a new gearbox. The bearings on the motor don't get lubricated buy oil. There is a special grease for them. I will follow your advice to keep it serviced at Kia.
