Yeah, unfortunately, my home park is in a rough area of the city, and we dont stick around after dark. Last season, we had several gun-related rumors reported last year as well, though this is the worst I've heard of so far. The good news is the current mayor of Atlanta seems tougher on crime. The bad news is the park is technically in Austell, so there's not much he can do. Hopefully Six Flags pressures the city of Austell to do something more as well as add that chaperone policy themselves.

I will say that we cautiously ( and with a game plan should stuff look dangerous) returned this weekend ( the weekend following) and security was definitely stepped up. We saw a lot less loitering and felt safe. It's sad that a few people can make things look bad because it's been our experience that the general crowd of park goers are friendly, good people of all walks of life just there to have a good, wholesome time.

How sad!! I don't condone violence for any reason. But why would kids come to an amusement park parking lot, of all places, and bring guns to start an altercation? These kids have some serious issues!! I feel bad for Six Flags, who has to deal with the situation and now the bad PR!! I agree, apparently there needs to be some more SERIOUS measures put into place to prevent this from happening anywhere, let alone a fun place like a theme park!!!

Not trying to be pedantic but SFOG is right on the southern edge of Cobb County. City of Atlanta doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with it. I saw something on the local news about how some Atlanta residents tried to warn Fulton County police because they saw people talking about it on social media. People just don’t know where it is. Comes as a surprise even to most locals.

I've seen the usual theft of prizes, drunken stupidity, and a few shouting fights at Great Adventure/Magic Mt. I've seen a bomb threat called in at Disneyland Paris but I didn't speak enough French so I had no idea what was going on. There was also a very heated threatening verbal fight between a Popeyes employee and a customer outside Great Adventure at Adventure Crossing. Thankfully missed out on gun violence.

It is very unfortunate that SFOG’s opening day was pure chaos in which it should not be. It’s been my home park throughout my entire life and have never heard of a large scale fight turning into a shooting. I really do wish a champerone policy was put in place after this incident. Cedar Fair has done it for their parks so why can’t Six Flags do the same thing also. I can’t imagine this chaotic event driving coaster enthusiasts and everyone away from coming to the park cuz it is definitely one of the most beautiful parks in the SF chain.

I'm glad yall are okay. We need more Coaster and Brews Channel for many years to come.
I think Six Flags security should work out a better plan with law enforcement, perhaps not let anyone leave until a volatile situation outside the gate is dealt with to prevent innocent bystanders getting accidentally shot like what happened during the KC Chiefs parade. Also, Security from the park should not have said, "It is not safe", especially in these times. This could cause a panic which could lead to fatal trampling, especially for children in the way.
But I'm glad you guys are okay. If you're looking for safer fun, visit Detroit for the NFL draft. Our city is looking great and our downtown is one of the safest in America, believe it or not, friendliest too!

Not blaming SFOG for this event and I am glad everyone is ok but I feel like the park is very relaxed on following rules. Line jumping and bad behavior is never punished so it happens quite often. This park has really great potential but the guest experience leaves it at the bottom of my list.

I was also at the park when this occurred. I was about to get on Twisted Cyclone and was told the ride was closed due to gunshots. As I was leaving the queue, I saw the screaming crowd rush back inside the park. The scariest part was walking back to the hotel I was staying at a half mile down the road. I made it back to the hotel no problem, thankfully. Shortly after I got back, there was all of a sudden a bunch of people running and screaming from the gas station next door making their way to the hotel parking lot. People were then going inside and hanging out in the lobby. I'm still in disbelief about what occurred that night. Six Flags really needs to get their act together.

I started going to SFOG when I was a teen in ‘88 and went every summer multiple times for several years. 10 years ago I went for the last time with my own kids and vowed never again. The park itself was kind of a run down shell of what it once was but the area around Six Flags is very scary. It’s basically turning into a ghetto amusement park and not worth the risk anymore.

As a father of a 20 month old that goes to amusement parks with him and my wife and mother in law it’s scary to think and i don’t know what I would do if I was in this situation. I agree with who would plan this or do this, but just seems hard to believe 500-600 people would show up to fight in or outside the park along with bringing a gun to the outside of the park. We were there that day with our nine year old and had left to go and picnic. When we tried to return, we were told there was no re entry. Having not been in years, we were unaware of this policy and thought as pass holders re entry wouldn't be an issue. We were aggravated at the time as our son was looking forward to riding some of his favorite coasters at night. Now I'm grateful that we were not able to return as our child ( and myself) would've been terrified. It's a shame that families and other innocent people who just want to have some good clean fun have to worry about these types of situations. I fully agree that Six Flags Over Georgia needs to implement No Loitering policies, more security and possibly even curfews of some sort for minors unaccompanied by a parent.

    • @TheArtistJR
      @TheArtistJR 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Our country does not "allow" guns, it's our Constitution that does not allow our government to take guns away from us. The purpose of that is to keep our government from becoming a tyrannical dictatorship, which most all disarmed nations become, and ours surely would be by now (and probably your country as well) if not for our right to own. Owners are not the problem, as I'd wager well more than 50% of all Six Flags guests on any typical day own a gun...but they are responsible owners who aren't stupid and reckless enough to bring it to an amusement park and start gang wars.
Furthermore, I used to work rides in this park in the early 80s. As employees, we NEVER even dreamed of a scenario having to deal with guests with guns, even when one of the attractions was a shooting gallery with guns that shot real lead balls at steel targets. This was also at a time in history when high schools had a class called Shooter Sports, and we brought shotguns to class. No, this was not in "the sticks" out away from Atlanta, it was in metro school districts. What has changed over the 4 decades since then is the mentality of a large percentage of people--people who would gladly use knives, brass knuckles, bats, pipes, or anything else they could lay hands on if they couldn't access a gun (maybe watch the football game scene in the movie The Wanders for proof). The fact that this happened at Six Flags Over Georgia is merely a detail, neither SFOG or Atlanta or Georgia as a whole are the cause. If society doesn't address this "demographic of destruction" then this will be happening everywhere, even in your back yard.

The internet has ruined classic rebellious teens. Its good to have a bit of rebellion, but there's just so many guns so easily available to kids, and so many social media conflicts that are meaningless but way too heated.

No surprise there. It’s in a sketchy area lol I stayed at the hotel right next door for 2 nights last October and as soon as I was pulling in during my first night I could see cops with lights flashing at the gas station right next to the hotel lol Atlanta (I know it’s technically Austell but it’s close enough) is something else.

I'm just really glad you guys are ok. I also hope everyone involved in this situation are ok. I was driving in a 2 way lane where one driver had road rage. When we got to the red light, he pulled a gun out his window at the driver who was in my lane. Luckily, that driver sped off and got away without any injuries. However, just being in a situation like that is extremely difficult to describe. That incident might have been a minute long. Time definitely stands still in these situations. It felt like a lifetime. I really hope the teens involved are able to get the help and guidance they need. Hopefully, they learn from this and not so something like this again. Again, I'm really glad you guys are safe 🙏

Can someone please explain to me why anyone under the age of 25 is able to get anywhere NEAR a gun, let alone own one. Ludicrous.

You think that people under 25 owning guns is a new thing? Not really sure why you went with that age but anyways, notice how 15 year olds generations ago shot guns and never did shit like this? It’s got nothing to do with age anyways. It’s poor upbringing. Society has lost all morals and family values and this is the result. That’s the root of the problem but no one wants to address it for some reason and I can’t figure out why 🤔 I’m not even a gun owner btw. I’ve shot guns only a handful of times in my life and don’t feel the need to have one but it’s a shame that responsible gun owners are for some reason viewed as the bad guys.

@@realthrills5448Exactly. They seem to forget that things like this never happened when our grandparents/great grandparents were young. But they did have guns 😂 they act like guns are a new thing lol like I explained to him, it’s all about poor upbringing. Society has lost its morals but our politicians still try to paint responsible gun owners as the problem lol FOH

Glad yall are safe and okay, and glad to see you’re being very mature about your perspective on the youth involved. What happened is inexcusable, and that doesn’t mean people should resort to uncalled for commentary on this.

Things like this shouldn't happen, it could of been a whole lot worse though. It may result in my comment being filtered, but America needs to get proper gun control. Also, do you know the video is only in 360p? might be a youtube processing issue

Something that isn't well known if you just watch the news is that situations like this almost always involve illegal gun use. More laws wouldn't actually prevent much.

Fun fact, the suspect involved in this shooting is 15, federal gun laws prohibit the sale, possession, or transfer of a handgun to anyone under the age of 21. Gun laws were already in place that “should” have prevented this. Hate to break it to you, criminals don’t obey laws. And taking the guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens will only make this worse

I am a now retired Bodyguard/Private Security of over 23 years and really tired of people crying about guns that have no real clue how the world works...
Gun laws did not stop the 15 year old criminal from obtaining the gun now did they? Despite all the laws preventing people like him from getting one...
Criminals, the insane and the government will always have access to firearms no matter what...oh wait that is all the same thing.
Laws only effect the law abiding citizens that actually follow the word of Law.
At least 82 million people in this country DO in fact own at least 1 firearm...you never hear anything about them now do you?
People need to stop trying to blame an inanimate tool for committing crimes and place the blame right where it belongs...fatherless hooligan teenagers with disinterested mothers raising them...a lifetime of no consequences for their actions...schools awarding children for not trying with participation trophies, giving them no reason to improve or try to get better...ghetto culture and the glorification of not getting an education and learning to speak proper English and degenerate behavior and lifestyles...and the list goes on and on...

You can take a look at some of the responses to your comment for examples of some of the thinking that prevents stricter gun control laws from being passed.
