    Six flags used to be so much fun in the 80s and 90s when I was a kid… closed at 1 am. Lit up so pretty at night, fireworks every weekend. My sis and I would war clothes that glowed in the dark and we were season pass holders and only live about 20 minutes away , so we would go early in the morning , go back home for lunch and a nap and then go back when it was cool in the evenings… THE BEST!!!!!

    When I worked there in the mid 90's the Characters (I was Daffy or a handler) would ride the Monster Mansion to get out of the heat, and the train. I miss the train conductors and the spiel they used to do, and the Mansion holds a special place in my heart.

    As a GA native, growing up with Six Flags, I know first hand what Kyle talks about. We went on Halloween night back in approx 2005 and left because of the gangsta environment- line cutting, mob intimidation mentality. As we we walking to the gate after cutting our night short by a few hours, we hear gunshots. Unfortunately Atlanta is not like Orlando in that sense and the majority of the problems like this are locals. While I get the issue with visible law enforcement, I prefer that over feeling I just stepped in to a gang war. More security the better in my opinion. Sad but needed. Thanks for the video Kyle and keep up the good work.

      The gang problems are a chief driver of the violence at the park. They need to do something to keep the parking lot and surrounding area safer to avoid everything spilling into the park itself.

    I've been to every six flags park, and I'll say SFOG has the best Batman The Ride clone. It's probably one of the most "intense" inverts you can ride tbh.

    Whenever I see the exterior of those old Batman Stunt Shows at various Six Flags parks, it makes me really sad to know they'll never come back. One of the coolest uses of an IP in any theme park. Nothing is cooler than getting to see a real-life Batman fight crime.

    • @thewalkingdad68
      @thewalkingdad68 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I can remember seeing that stunt show in that very arena shown in this video with my daughter growing up. It always makes me sad to see what the park has become today. All the things that were there and way better themed than a 2 dimensional sign. Six Flags has fallen victim to the bad decisions made by the corporations that have owned them since the 90s. Sfog was glorious before that happened. Now it's a sad sight in an area that is overrun with drugs, prostitution and gangs. Just don't go there.

  • @darkridearts
    @darkridearts 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    It's so sad what they've done to this park. It used to be beautiful there. Just look at the mindbender sitting in an empty field vs. how it used to dip and swoop through the treeline. Last time I was there they were running one train ops on everything to sell fast lane passes, so all the standby line waits were 90 minutes. We waited over an hour to get burnt cold food and flat soda. Absolutely horrible experience.

    • @mylesmcarthur642
      @mylesmcarthur642 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The one train ops are due primarily due to maintenance, sometimes staffing. They do not purposely run less trains to encourage flash pass sales.

    As a HUGE monster mansion fan Im not really sure if I like or hate the new additions to it. I really like the new lights and props added to the marsh and lobby but some things that bother me is how certain areas have completely lost they're voice lines and how they completely changed mizzy Scarlett's voice actor. I wonder why they did that lmao but either way I'm glade the park still cares for this gem. (Also I REALLY hope they add that horn at the end back cause it's such a iconic sound within the ride and park

    Our family lives about 90 minutes away. We had annual passes for years but stopped renewing three years ago (after the lockdowns). Our boys loved six flags and white water 🌊. The environment just became progressively less safe and the park needed lots of attention.
    We discovered Universal Studios in 2020. That is our go-to place now. 6.5 hours. Our boys love every minute in those parks. We stay inside the bubble on universal property; praying they keep security tight so it doesn't have the issues six flags has now.
    Fun video and lots of memories in that park! Thank you for sharing!

    Sad, as they've obviously picked up on their grounds and facility maintenance. I agree that if they tightened up their admission requirements to exclude unaccompanied teenagers (ie those without adult supervision) that it should decrease the youth issues that its been having, but its also a sign of the times with so many feral single parent children left to raise themselves.

    We are from up north. Six flags Great America is close to us. First time going to a Six flags ever in April . Wow. It has the same amount of security as here. Cops in the parking lot. A scanner machine. Few of them in the parking lot because a shoot out took place their years ago. Park staff are rude and mostly staffed of teenagers for the attractions. So many teens walking around in inappropriate attire as well as few adults. Yikes. Weed smoking is everywhere by teens. Food prices are ridiculous. But 44.00 meal deal that allows you to eat every 1hr and 30 is okay. Can be shared with two peoples. The rides where fun. Compared to other parks like Dolly and Cedar fair. Six flags ranks last. Great vid.

    • @ViewFromTheCheapSeats
      @ViewFromTheCheapSeats  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed. That is when I went as well. No violent teens or gangs that day bc of the police lockdown of the park. The amount of closed rides was disappointing but I think it may tie back to the amount of staff they have available to work currently as well (in addition to maintenance time).

My 3rd grade son had a basketball he had won at one of the booth games and it was snatched out of his hand and thrown hard back at him, hitting him in the back of the head. We left after about 2 hours. I emailed their customer service and never even received a response. This stuff could have been dealt with LONG ago.

    I remember going to Six Flags in the late 90s early 2000s quite often as it was only 25 minutes away. Fun times as me, my brother, and my cousins all used to go right after church on Sundays. My family and I lived in Stone Mountain, just east of Atlanta. Crime and safety were already a problem, but it's gotten out of hand. I'll say what everyone else is afraid to say, but it's this thuggish, no fathers at home, unruly teenage behavior. And it's in the black demographic. How do I know? I'm black and grew up in that environment. I gleefully anticipated the day I go to college in 2005 to escape that nonsense. Anyways, after what I saw on opening day from the news, I've no intention or desire to go back. I used to take my band and orchestra students around this time every year to perform and enjoy the rides. Not anymore. The only time I'm ever close to Six Flags now is when I'm driving right pass it on I-20 Westbound it to visit family in Alabama.

    Things that happen in Six Flags Parks happen in Orlando parks, the Orlando parks just have a much bigger, influential cover up racket going. They work very hard to make sure that those things are not heard about. People LIKE to be scared. It’s just a matter of fact. Look at the media we consume. If we don’t watch it, they don’t get the advertising dollars because they don’t get the ratings and they get they signal that they have to do things differently. But the “ If It Bleeds, It Leads “ model works very effectively and efficiently for them. Also, the requirement of someone not being permitted admittance to the park if they’re 17 or under without a person who is 18 or older doesn’t make much rational sense. Like one year, ot even 8 years age difference is going to somehow have an influence over the behavior and actions of the younger individuals. When something does happen, people live for it to be blown way out of proportion because as I said earlier, they feel more like something is being done when places do overkill like in this situation.

      I do agree that every park has issues from time to time, but this specific park literally had 400-500 teenagers running through it, knocking other guests down and then stomping them, which led to a gun battle with law enforcement. I’m not sure that I’ve seen that happening elsewhere. That said, this was far from the first gunfight that has happened at this specific park.

    I’m 34 and I’ve lived in Georgia all my life. After growing up a Disney and Universal kid, I always felt like Six Flags was comparable to a fairground with just more slightly sturdier rides. My parents have owned two time shares in Orlando since 1997. So riding rides at Six Flags was night and day in comparison to riding movies at Universal. Plus, I never feel safe at Six Flags and they allow people to cut the line with no repercussions. It’s annoying. I avoid Six Flags at all costs and it’s only 30 minutes from my house.

      Agreed. I've lived in Georgia my entire life and was born in Austell. If I'm saying that I'm afraid to go there now (and have been for 20 years), then believe me when I say it's bad. And just for the record, I've not lived in Austell since early 2005... because of the transitional situation. And honestly since TH-cam has existed, you can get a glimpse of what's happening in the park. It's just a shell of the glory it once was. Also the tactic of leaving much of the park closed and still charging full admission is not something I'm interested in going through.

    The planes are about to land, that’s why they’re so low. The airport isn’t far from there.

      All kidding aside, the groups of kids (400-500) were literally attacking random park guests and kicking and stomping on them on the ground.

    SFOG can’t be that bad where thoosies are going to put “I survived Six Flags Over Georgia” thinking that it’s the most dangerous park in the chain in their videos. It is definitely one of the more beautiful SF parks

    I grew up going there before MARTA started bussing in the black community. It used to be safe. Now it’s just another extension of the hood. Sad. 😢
