‘Superannuated drama teacher’: Douglas Murray slams Trudeau’s latest missteps

  • Author Douglas Murray has slammed the Canadian Prime Minister for his latest slew of missteps, arguing the country’s public image has gone backward under his leadership.
“I think the rest of the world’s image of Canada has tumbled enormously during the time that this superannuated drama teacher has been running Canada,” Mr Murray said.
He discussed an “extraordinary” incident which recently occurred in the Canadian parliament with Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“They had President Zelensky of Ukraine there and they embarrassed him and gave a massive propaganda win to the Russians.
“Why? Because it turned out that the speaker of the House … had invited a 98-year-old Ukrainian who fought the Soviets in the 1940s.
“Now you don’t have to be a history buff to know that a Ukrainian fighting the Soviets in the 1940s was highly likely to be fighting with the Nazis.”

I got cousins in Canada that totally support Trudeau against the truckers because the blasting of the horns made their public servant friends uncomfortable and affected their sleep patterns.
That's how much Canadians care about freedom. Whatever the government tells them.

Not meant as any kind of insult - he needs to be REMOVED, but people still seem to keep voting for this prick.
Here in NZ, it is going to be an interesting election this Saturday.
BOTH National(right-wing) and Labour(left-wing) are polling VERY badly.
Usually, it is one up, the other down, but they are BOTH polling very poorly, and so we might end up with NZ First and Winston(NZ's Trump) + a coalition of the smaller parties, ousting BOTH of the two main parties. Yes, I know - I am dreaming to some extent. That will NEVER happen. If it is NOT a National-led or Labour-led government, they will insist on another election......

Enough no votes displays apathy, ignorance to those in power. So basically, you all told Trudeau: WE DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS. Can you see that now? God bless vote and encourage every to vote. I haven’t watched them in at least three years
Before this, was a vaping fiasco, illegal pods making kids sick
CBC had a new panel week long focus
      They told lie
      Misrepresented information
Edited tape so that it looked like the people in support of vaping had little to stand on.
While this was a small controversy, those of us who worked in the vaping community, noticed a very obvious smear campaign. Biased and inflammatory reporting.
This was in the year just before the virus hit.
Vaping may seem an insignificant issue but when I look back, even then we whispered conspiracy. They were hellbent on destroying vaping
You see, vaping was gaining a lot of popularity to get people away from tobacco.
It was doing very well as an aid to quit smoking.
The tobacco industry makes HUGE money, some of which is paid to government, which trickles down through various funding sectors.
Our theory was, they really don’t want people quitting smoking.
Vaping has been around 20 years since it’s origin and there was plenty of research to support it. Long term effects were still a bit vague but it was generally considered that vaping was 99% safer than the carcinogens in cigarettes.
I tell you, the smear campaign was bizarre. The vaping community certainly fought back with correct information but it still damaged the credibility of the idea behind it.
Many of these businesses were small. Many closed because of the information people got from the news and stopped vaping. I was laid off from my job at the Vape store because business dropped dramatically.
What had initially caused the issue was illegal vape pods people made in their basement, they didn’t use proper ingredients and kids got sick.
The whole “popcorn lung” thing was a huge government lie. While it exists, it’s not something that develops with vaping.
So now that I’ve rambled on….. it’s not relevant anymore but it is, because for me it was the first clear indication of smear and control. I remember yelling at the tv because cbc panelists were so one sided.
I stopped paying attention to cbc after that
Then the rest of the shit hit the fan

Douglas Murray asks a very direct and very important question. Living in western Canada in the Province of Alberta, I live in one of two Provinces where everything Justin Trudeau does, or attempts to do, is being opposed. Provincial Legislatures have considerable and separate powers under the Constitution, and Premier Scott Moe in Saskatchewan and Premier Danielle Smith in Alberta are now involved in a very active battle - one that could well lead to one or both Provinces withdrawing from the Canadian Confederation. It's an odd sidebar that many of Trudeau's supporters live in large urban centers in southern Ontario and Quebec, but as you move west (or to a lesser extent east), Justin Trudeau is not respected and not welcome - and that's putting it mildly. The largest single problem we have is that Trudeau has suborned so much of the "operations" of the Canadian Government, as well as elements of the Judiciary, and is kept in power in Parliament by a back-room deal made with the far-left socialist NDP, who provide only a few seats, but enough so that no Bill that is a "Confidence Issue" - or an actual vote of Confidence - will be passed. The Liberal Party backbench are entirely silent (bar one recent exception), and so sit on their hands and support Trudeau. As long as that situation, or another Coalition exists in Parliament, Trudeau cannot be voted out before the 2025 Federal Election. There is literally no mechanism, legally or Constitutionally, to do so. And Trudeau has made personal loyalty to _him_ a pre-requisite for any senior position in the government bureaucracy. To be honest, I doubt very much that this situation can go on much longer. Trudeau grows more enamoured of his invulnerability almost daily, even with horrific international and domestic gaffes, if not outright catastrophes. Anyone interested in the specifics can find ample material - the problem is keeping up. He's convinced that nothing can touch him. There seems to be no scandal bad enough, or no behaviour atrocious enough, to make him admit being wrong, or showing shame.
There are several possible things that may happen, but as Dr Jordan Peterson has pointed out, they will be very dangerous and difficult. But many Canadians have reached a point where they say they have nothing left to lose. They cannot heat their homes (not an option) or afford groceries. All of the "Big" media studiously ignore this - as well they might since all are on Trudeau's payroll. They all ignore or have forgotten about actual events during the last 2 years. Canadians have not.

    • @wesjones1417
      @wesjones1417 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

One thing that I'm not sure Trudeau is aware of, is that his own bills will only show Canadians more of that worldly opinion. C-11 will force social media to share Canadian content to Canadians....which ultimately slashes most online content creators' viewership 10 fold, as the majority weren't from Canada. That just means social media will now see non Canadian content rank higher than all Canadian content, and as such, get more exposure, even within Canada. And at the same time, his law to make social media pay news or not share it, has had the effect of banning news on social media in Canada, and nowhere else. While Canadian journalists suffer massive losses, the rest of the world won't...and those algorithms will just push that content even more. So now, instead of the masses seeing CBC, CTV, Global, etc. that used to sing praise to Trudeau, becoming slightly less favourable to him over the past year, they will just see international news that rips on him as being the most pathetic leader in the western world, and an utter disgrace. Now, all the news that the masses see will no longer give Trudeau's side, but just show the voters what the entire world really thinks of Canada....which is the opposite of everything he has been telling them.

Please stop adding to the embarrassment that is currently the Canadian parliament.

@@Daniel-deMerrivale I think there’s strong evidence the entire Canadian parliament is stupid. It’s also a weird argument to suggest anyone in that parliament is diligent and prepared and would pre-read a speech when they’ve just used the excuse they weren’t diligent and prepared in order to invite a Näží

Nah. He wrote his own remarks. He invited the guy. He didn't tell anyone in govt, nor the Ukrainian delegation. As Speaker he ran the House and this was his baby. He's at least 90% personally to blame.

Either way, the Speaker did something extremely foolish here. It certainly looked like he had not read it before. @@Daniel-deMerrivale

What are you talking about Douglas? _elensky is a superannuated comedian whose armed forces love the notsee emblems and talking points. He didn't belong in our parliament either - begging for money and arms that are on their way to other wars as I write this.
