    Must be nice livin in “no salt” zone. That truck looked brand new under there! Thing come apart real easy when you have no rust to deal with! I’m jealous !

      Haha it’s okay bro as long as it came off how did you do??

    • @JR-wb8ht
      @JR-wb8ht ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After looking around most auto shops aren’t willing to rebuild the transmission. Unless they take it out themselves. So I’m other words I may not be able to take it out and have someone fix it.

    • @Ajunkman
      @Ajunkman  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JR-wb8ht yeah most shops and rebuilders like to take the easier routes and/or avoid as many risks as possible they like to see what’s wrong with it before pulling it & attacking the rebuild so they know what’s really hurting on it to laser in on that part of the faulty transmission and try to salvage as many used parts as possible when you take them a unit it’s kinda hard more like a blind rebuild if that makes sense

  • @ahofmann1577
    @ahofmann1577 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why didn't you check the pan before taking out the transmission? Or did you before you shot the video?

    • @Ajunkman
      @Ajunkman  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can usually tell by smelling the dip stick 9/10 times I’m right (I’ve been doing this for 14 years) but mainly to drain the transmission and I don’t like to drain where I’m working these transmissions don’t have a oil drain bolt (unless someone made one: common to see nowadays) but for the most part you have to remove the whole oil pan and it takes longer trying to be tedious and clean unless you don’t mind used transmission oil soaking to the back of your shirt and working like that but that’s one of my pet peeves lol so it’s easier to just drain it once it’s off and I’m on my feet, clean and store my tools as it’s draining then bolt it back up and go home but sometimes if it’s iffy on the smell and I don’t trust it I do remove it beforehand to make sure 100% I’ve pulled many transmissions off just to find out it’s no good or really burnt to the point of no return at the end but I love doing this so I don’t really mind lol

    • @HereForSomeReason
      @HereForSomeReason 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This one doesn’t have a transfer case but I would really recommend dropping it to get the top bell housing bolts and u just need a rly long extension with a swivel and a 15mm socket on the end

      @@maaseace Yeah if I see that they’re too sketchy I’ll just walk away it’s not worth risking it but yeah you’re right sometimes they’re barley sitting on the lip of the rim very very scary.
