Apollyon is still one of my favorite villains ever for the simple fact she wins. The MP literally takes place in her new and successful world of the strong rule.

@Njvikesfan 01 Apollyon didn't want to get rid of the weak. She only killed the weak if they pretended to be strong. Apollyon did what she did to bring out those who were actually strong. The wolves among each of the factions.
The best part about Apollyon I think is her own backstory. She's just a farm girl who had her village raided by the Warborn. Everyone but her died. This all of course could have been prevented because there was a Lawbringer staying nearby. But he was lazy and content and didn't help her village. Obviously she sought revenge. That's where her armor comes from, it's that Lawbringer's armor reshaped to fit her. After her revenge she realized something. That strife and conflict, that small war she just waged, it made her stronger. Being content, like she and the Lawbringer had been, was wrong. Humanity needs to struggle to grow, as only the strongest can raise the next generation to be even stronger. A wolf pack, not a herd of sheep.
I love how they never updated the story so no matter how many reworks there are u can still experience the game as it was day one and appreciate how it's grown. Also we can't forget one of the best lines in the story. "I don't speak Japanese"

Btw, it's really hard to make an enticing theme for every season that has meaning and lore to it when many players simply ignore it and complain about everything they see. Ex: "wHeRe ArE nEw MaPs?!?!!?" "DeAd GaMe!!!!"
@@CaptDuty491 I think the concepts of what they have are/can be inherently interesting, I just think that they’re handled less well than they should be. Especially considering that this game has a dedicated lore team
9:30 Apollyon being the narrator for the lore was one of my favorite parts. It shows that she took serious time and consideration before coming to her end philosophy. She sought out every faction, every philosophy, and every religion. It fascinating to hear what she has to say on all the topics and she doesn't just how right dismiss things that aren't war.It makes her It's also an amusing mental image of Apollyon sitting through various church sessions and paying genuine attention or examining and appreciating art. I find that juxtaposition funny
A lot of people really misunderstand story-writing, and how difficult it can be to make something that doesn’t just follow a common trope. I will always be impressed with the way the characters feel balanced with each other here, instead of 1 main character dominating everything, and Apollyon ultimately being the victor in the end, using realistic aspects of human nature to win, instead of the hero being the most morally superior character in the world. It shows that the protagonists can fail, and will fail, if they can’t find common ground through understanding and learning from each other, instead of a short pep talk and a week or 2 of training.
Apollyon: "So let me get this straight, you Brought an Army to my doorstep, Killed half of My Men, Slaughtered My People, AND Stabbed me 5 Times! And all for What?" Me: "For Peace! If we kill you, Peace will Return!" Apollyon: "Hehm..Hehehehe, you are one naive Summer child...It doesn't work like that...." *Apollyon looks down from above the Balcony* Apollyon: "War...Only starts when 2 armies collide...They fight...Regardless of...What you do....." *As she said, Armies were still at Battle and no one wanted to stop* Apollyon: "And....Among the...Survivals....Lie the...Strongest ones......That...Is what...You are......A Wolf...." Me: "Silence! You manipulated everyone into War! Civil Wars and National Wars!" Apollyon: "Eh...Heheh.....You are...As naive as the day I left you......See for yourself....Even if...I die.....War......will still.....rage.....on........" *thudd* Apollyon died and I stood at Loss, looking at the Army I created ruin a City and how the Opposing Army continued to fight back. "What am I fighting for..?." (I know this is Ultra Inaccurate, but this is my Genuine Reaction after completing the game, TODAY!)
What got me into this game? Getting to play a male warden with a long sword. What kept me from leaving the game was the introduction of a hero with lawbringer esc armor and a great sword; Warmonger. It's not because the game was more grounded with its fantasy back then that got me hooked. it was simply because I got to play with an armored knight using my favorite weapon
Same almost, I quit because I like to get immersed and role play for less of a better word in games. I want my mp charachter to feel like me which is one of the advantages of the knights with their helmets, So when the warden rework was super underwhelming and warmonger so stupidly was gender locked as female I quit after years of playtime and at one point reaching top 200 in mmr for warden.
So glad I'm not alone. Apollyon has to be one of, if not flat out, my favorite antagonist(s) in fiction. I was surprised at how good the ending was. It had teeth, which was... interesting, coming from Ubisoft. Apollyon's monologue right before her death was honest to goodness, haunting. The way the dominoes all fell right into place, right when she decided.
I liked the original vibe of For Honor because it was "simple", no mumbo jumbo magic or trying to include every single part of the world and include an incoherent story that feels like a modern cartoon, just three normal factions in a normal world trying to make a living after a minor case of apocalypse
Why would they? Draconite isn't supposed to be some Macguffin, it's just a Thing the warmongers found and Gryphon learned to use. Tyranny wasn't about Draconite, It was about Astrea and the warmongers as the main focus. It's like asking for lore on the wu Lin's Firecrackers or the Bear traps the Vikings use. Granted not as boring, but still not necessary. Besides you can infer some info about it. It's a mineral so it's an organic resource probably mined from somewhere, And it has similar properties to poisonous plants like Mandrake and Foxglove that can let it be used as a medicine or poison depending on how it's prepared.
Imagine if they weren't retarded from the start and had real servers at launch. Maybe we wouldn't have lost 90% of our player base in the first 3 months
Not story-wise, unfortunately. The theme and lore of each new season feel more and more random and unimportant for the world of the game. They keep working on the balance and polishing mechanics but they're clearly saving on good writers.
I guess we're at a point (generally, not just in video games) where simple stories that just work are "mid" instead of "good", where we all expect something to be always extraordinary, and can't get satisfied enough by the ordinary
9:55 "For Honor has strayed so far from what it used to be, it pains me to think about what this game could be if we had kept the original aesthetic" Couldn't have said it better myself. This line summarizes my feelings towards For Honor for like 3 years.
The story mode contains so much nostalgia for me it's unreal. The cutscenes resemble the older graphics that the game had which I adore, and the gameplay and sound design was so much more gritty and immersive. Even the soundtrack was amazing. It was also just about Knights vs Vikings vs Samurai, which was what for honor was always meant to be.
I love the knight story, it has a heart and some twists, the other two are more like background lore got animated (outside of some moments that stand out). I only wish the story circled around back to the Warden for the final battle. Speaking of which it's just knights vs knights vs samurai, with vikings showing up at the last moment as an afterthought. They have a story role there (keep the fighting an mistrust going), but they could've worked them in as a second front storming the castle for loot and make it a three way fight. As far as simple stories go, I really like them when they're one properly an hit all the right notes, such has the original Force Unleashed campaign.
I absolutely love the story, combat is of course outdated but i enjoyed it. The only problem i have is that warden doesn't get to be the one to kill apollyon.
@@bababooey3023yeah the vikings and knights had the biggest reason to actually get to kill her. All the samurai guy did was brake out of prison he had least right to get it in my opinion.
@@FeedMeChaos1 i didn't say it was wrong. Its just a nit pick i have. I just want the warden to have gotten it in terms of losing the most between the 3. Of course this is how apollyon counted for the end.
In one of the findable clues on the final missions, the secret tunnels out of the castle were already covered up, implying that Apollyon never intended to leave
I always said that I wanted a kind of Game of Thrones style prequel following Apollyon, Holden Cross, and Daubany. It could have three storylines that intersect in the finale. Keep in mind, what I put below I just came up off the top of my head. One (arguably both the least and most important) follows Apollyon as she climbs up the ranks of the Blackstone legion, while at the same time driving the other legions out of Ashfeld. Perhaps it could be a sort of tragic villain story, have her start off as slightly idealistic (if a little jaded) and then slowly become what we see her as in the main story due to all the backstabbing and decadence she witnesses. The second story line could follow Holden Cross as he follow's Apollyon's orders and begins the Blackstone legions conquest of Ashfeld; and show him struggling with his "my master, right or wrong" mentality, as he struggles to maintain his honor in the face of the inherit dishonor war brings. And the last story line (and arguably the main one) could follow Daubany as he tries to find his place in Ashfeld. I see him being a a sort of Bronn of the Blackwater kind of figure, albeit less unfettered; with him starting off as a lowly sellsword (kind of like how our Warden started in the campaign), and then doing a task that gets him recruited into the Blackstone Legion. As the story progresses, Daubany and Cross constantly butt heads due to their differing world views and feelings about honor (the former being a pragmatist, while the later is obsessed with it); but ultimately, the finale would be both men realizing what Apollyon really wants with Ashfeld. Cross thinks he can temper her expectations, while Daubany see's the situation for what it is and show's that he's arguably more moral than Cross by taking those under his command and splitting off from the Blackstone Legion and forming a rebellion (to further underscore the similarities between Daubany and the PC Warden); with the show ending with the canonical battle in the beginning of the campaign, and a sort of epilogue with a scribe talking to Cross and Daubany as they reflect on what happened (and to be a sort of framing device).
Very interesting idea, however I think it should be split up with chapters just like the normal base game with three factions to play as with their own prequels as focusing on the Knights to a game trying to diversify characters is a bad idea
To start off, Apollyon STARTED the blackstone. She never climbed it's ranks. She is progenitor of that clan. Her and like 14 others? They all fought for Warmaster but she was the only one left alive, and she won in stride. Hardly injured. So she never had to climb ranks.
I think the scene that really shows how good a simple story line with subtle villains on it is the Viking beheading scene. The sheer bewilderment by both Holden and the Raider they share when she congratulates the Raider for killing 40 of her own men......its like the small moment you realise how truly diabolical and smart Apollyon is in what her end goal was for how simple the story was. Like who praises their enemy for going on a killing spree on their own men? Jesus, I'd shit my pants if I was Holden and the Raider too.
"What happens now...? You all just go home? You came into MY home, you brought your armies, what did you think was going to happen? Peace? Don't speak to me of your virtues... Duty... Kinship... Honor. You've forgotten what you are." "War... All you want is war." "All I want is for you to admit what you really are. My... Wolves.." Man I love Apollyon's last scene so much I still go back and watch it.
The story is actually really dope, but that's why I wish that it was expanded to include the wu lin and heros that are actual characters and not a type of fighter (like gryphon, the evolution of the lawbringer from the story, versus warden or berserker, who is just a warden or berserker of many) there would be so many interesting interactions
1:33 you mention the voice acting and dialogue being good, I LOVE the sounds too. That loud CLANG when you block and attack, that vicious shredding with sparks flying after you parry a light, it’s all awesome!
For Honour's story is basically one of those really good, halfway accurate medieval dramas that went under a lot of people's radar, but the few who did get into it witnessed pure greatness of storytelling and have been left wanting more than 1 season ever since.
I don't know man. Not every voice acting is that great. Like the "I don't speak japanese" However I wish I could hear my boy Cent all the time as a narrator. I truly love Appolyon and warden voice. And the campain lore, Appolyon pholosophy is great to witness and ending in the Appolyon castle is just pure perfection. I totally agree on that. Lore reading Appolyon is gorgeus, If only we could get more female characters like her I wish there were singleplayer dlc's for the game
What's also amazing about the cutscenes is that most of the characters (except the vikings and holden cross) have their faces completely covered. The body language and voice acting did all the heavy lifting!
It's true that For Honor's story is really unique. Silence, blood, clever and musics that make me really melancholic. I crave this simple and darker shade of the game. Not the move shining, magical effect and redondant story about "We shall do what Appolyon did again".
Talking about the memes and comedy in the story mode, I can't help but think of my personal favorite. The Valkyrie doing all her scouting in the Myre, trying to get intel on this Samurai threat. Gudmundr finally catches up to her on the dock, "Well? What did they say?" The first time I saw this cutscene I remember thinking to myself "wtf, are they gonna just skip the fact that she doesn't speak their language?" Valkyrie: "I don't speak Japanese."
@@LordJazz from the wiki: Stigandr was once a prisoner of Siv the Ruthless but was freed by The Raider. With Jarl Gudmundr dead, The Raider appointed Stigandr as Jarl. As Jarl, he decides to raid the Samurai in an event that would come to be known as The Great Raid. Youre 100% correct
The only word I can think of to describe For Honor's story is "masterpiece". It truly brings identity to For Honor's world. Most people who say the story and/or lore doesn't matter or says that it's bad doesn't appreciate what For Honor is, they just see it as another fighting game. This game is something truly special, something that I can only hope gets topped by another entry or a sequel.
Another great thing i think people miss, is how unafraid ForHonors story is of being cliche, you have a world with three big factions, Knights, Samurai and Vikings you arent told much about their societies and histories because youre meant to see the world from a warriors eyes, you just know that ''the vikings are brave and savage'' ''the samurai are honorable and skilled'' and ''the knights are righteous and stalwart'' stuff that could be interchangable but sets up the stereotypical image of these three groups perfectly, your Knight character is the standard protagonoist that has good heart, is brave, but also naive, your Viking character is agressive and hungry for glory. Theres still space for more original characters, but its great that for once you get to meet a new universe trough the eyes of the character archetypes that best represent it, instaed of some fanfic OC that SuBvErTs YoUr ExPeCtAtIoNs at every turn.
Pair Apollyons final speech with one Warmomgers intro lines "Peace? Peace is poison" have always struck me as true to human nature. If you're at peace you're either dead or dying, as does a stagnant pool of water; the peace of it breeds pestilence in the form of mosquitoes. "You bring all your armies, and now what, you just... go home?" Often times when people are prepared to fight there's no stopping it. Blood is going to be spilled when people are seeing red. "I want you to admit what you are; my wolves" Even afer all the struggle of the campaign beforehand, all the death, all the people salin by your hands: you still lost. You came to stop a war, and in doing so started the very thing you fought to prevent. The situstuon leaves us with the notion that 'fighting is wrong' while with Appolyons dying breaths shows the player *fighting is in their nature* For as much flak as the campaign mode ever got, can't say it didn't poke the brain with some damn good food for thought.
The world of For Honor is a grim and horrific place to live. Take a minute to imagine how many families are killed or separated. By a certain age you're probably expected to know how to fight. We see in the more recent seasons everyone is sick of fighting, they don't want to anymore but have to. If you listen to the lyrics of the breach music, the Knights just don't want the war anymore, the Vikings are praying for salvation, and the Samurai just want actual living conditions and for their culture to not die out. It's depressing reading through the lore (at least when you ignore the weird parts they shovel in for either an event or a new hero). Vela was our first villain character we've seen who doesn't enjoy what she does. Imagine that, a war that's been going on for so long nobody wants to fight it, but they don't trust each other enough to make peace.
Good to know there are more folks who love this campaign! As for what hooked me... literally the thought of Knights vs Vikings vs Samurai!! It was like a dream fight come true back when the first "Gameplay" trailer was shown.
It's not just the cutscenes in this game, (imo) the first trailer during E3 2016 where the three armies fight over the puddle of fresh water is highly underrated. Especially the ending with Apollyon egging on the conflict.
The thing that sticks with me and really makes this campaign good and memorable is the near perfect blend of cheese/camp with serious undertones. For every "rAiDeR!!" You have a "I took an oath to fight for peace. So did you. All of you." That and I just adore the setting. The idea of a humanity pushed to the brink with some people desperately trying to pull it back from the edge while others fan the flames is just so interesting and fun for me. Alongside the bleak atmosphere and ceaseless, unrelenting war it's all just 👌 It reminds me of 40k in a lot of ways, actually. But with the restraint to ease up on the edginess every once in a while, so you have just a smidge of levity to juxtapose the hopelessness and violence.
What deeply rooted and got me into the game, was simply the general aesthetic. The knight's chanting in the background with a cello playing as you were examining your hero. The brutality of the game was certainly another reason my roots were so deep too, I loved it all. But of course, the simple facts that everyone had swords and you had to *gasp* block in the direction the hit was coming from?! It was like no other man, I'll truly miss the beginning stages of this game and all the roughness that it had.
I've been thinking about the sequel to for honor and honestly the best story beat they could do is an origin story of Appolyon. Imagine going through the experiences that shaped her into what she is. What trauma, broken alliances and accomplishments she went through. It could be a mix between Berserk's Golden age and the movie The Joker.
That's be cool. Especially if it wasn't super upfront about it, so you see her grow into it bit by bit until your realize you've been Apollyon all along.
I'm glad to hear I wasn't alone in thinking the story was criminally underrated. Every time I hear it mentioned it seems to get downplayed a lot, it's nice to hear somebody talk about the things it did exceptionally well!
I've been writing a book for more than a year now, and one of my major inspirations were the story mode in for honor. The plot is actually fantastic, a millennium of war, so lost to time that they just fight to survive. The characters are just amazing as well. The story mode borders on psychological thriller at times. For a unique new game, for honor outdid itself in the story department. I wish we saw more games with nuisanced and interesting story modes like it.
Apollyon didn't *want* or planned to die, but she certainly was ready to. All of her observables in the final mission are declarations that she will win against all the invading forces or she will die trying, in either scenario she still gets what she wanted: An endless war to break the cycle of stagnancy.
A little thing to note about everyone's nonchalant attitude to death and killing, that's basically how people act when they're desensitised to it. When you've seen death and been on it's doorstep all your life, it's only natural you'll live life more in the moment. It might be a hot take, but that's probably the most historically accurate thing about For Honour's story, the way everyone just goes with the flow.
I love the use of “Knights/Promises” at the beginning of your video. The three faction themes hold such a special place in my heart and are so underutilized in the multiplayer. I got 100% the campaign and still play it from time to time. It is very nostalgic for me, as I have been playing it for 7 years.
For Honor is and was the last Ubisoft game with a soul and identity for itself. At least, for now. I've yet to see proof of otherwise in the years since it's release.
My intreperation of Apollyon was that she wasn't even an actual person, just the combined symbol for the human nature, everyone just deciding against their better judgement to cause more conflict.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. I've been saying this since the game released! The narrative is what tied me over to the game. I love apollyon so much that I implemented her into my DND games because I adore her that much..
I don't give a shit about the new stories. For me, what brought me in was the cool-ass knights, and once I got into the story it was the tale of three civilisations that have been at war for over a millennium. People forged by wars which were started as a result of circumstances beyond their control, forcing them to hostility and brutality if they wanted to survive. It was the concept of seeing knights, vikings, samurai - fighting a war whose cause is no longer even remembered. The customisation and seeing your own characters fight it out in a dynamic map as you recreate and continue the conflict which has lasted for over a thousand years. It was mostly the cool-ass knights. Ashfeld, represent.
i undestand why apollyon is your favourite villain but for me, it's sundowner he's dramatic humorous and vicious, he's a type of person i think even apollyon would be afraid of
I really loved the ending cutscenes for the knights. Especially the ending shot on the second one, with all three of then standing there, and the music just kicks ass and helps it so much.
I just love the story mode of this game, compared to many other fighting game story modes, For Honor's is the best I've played and seen. Honestly, the story mode is just great, and now I'm in the mood to play it again.
i think this follows the saying "if you do something right, barely anyone will notice" this might fight the story. they did it right. i personally loved it. it was short but it was great. i wouldnt want it any different. i dont want anyone to try and replicate it because i dont think they could come close. just leave it as is.
I’m a simple man, I like looking at knights in heavily worn and customized armor sets that give themselves ranks, titles, and names based off of numerous religious (typically biblical) characters (typically demons lmao)
I've played through the campaign I think 7 times. On Normal, Hard and Realistic on Xbox. Then when I made the switch to PC, I played it on Hard and Realistic. Then I've taken 2 friends through it in Co-Op. It's still one of the only single player campaigns I would think about going through again.
From my understanding, Apollyon had two sides (she had two wolves inside her, ha ha peak comedy…) there were Apollyon and the little girl who watched her village get massacred. And from what I have heard, while Apollyon was moving the chess pieces in order to achieve eternal war. All the little girl wanted to do was achieve the strength she needed to protect her people while letting them understand what they are. Then it ultimately boiled down to that last battle. If she died then Apollyon would have won achieving her goal of war. If she survived then the girl would have won and would have achieved her goal of protecting her people from the evil of the world. But alas, we know what happened, Apollyon did not die, she became immortalized in the new era that her enemies brought upon themselves, which resulted in the death of the girl and of the innocence of the world. At least this is how I understand it based on what this video and other videos like it have said. Also any warmonger mains here?
The ending of the knight story is so good because the Viking warrior crying humanizes the Vikings and shows how war does indeed affect others and not just you
What makes Apollyon an incredibly fascinating villain is that her brutality doesn't come from anger, but rather from a perspective of instruction. She doesn't hate or want vengeance, she accepts the cold truth that is humanity's need to grow and excel through conflict. You could almost say that there isn't any evil in her intent, it is simply a necessary lesson she wanted to share... and you know what they say, sharing is caring. Apollyon did nothing more than teach the world, and teaching is a way of showing love.
You know another thing that I think really makes the story good is the fact it gives you the opportunity to explore the enviornments you play in. They are all gorgeous, especially the myre imo.
The world, factions, armors, and characters I always thought were really cool. Being forced to only interact with this elements of this world in constant battle scenarios without being able to travel down the road, talk to a merchant, explore the fantasy landscape and also have the game's iconic immersive combat encounters is what killed it for me. I love the combat, but I feel this game is essentially all candy. it gives you all the desert of any fantasy setting, the heat of the battle and thrill, without any of the savory world to get lost in. I like candy, but if that's all the meal consist of than well it's not much of a meal. I know a lot of people seem to feel tired of open worlds, but every moment I played I often would literally look out into the distance, off the walls, beyond the gate, past the cliffs and just think to myself how much I'd play this game if I could just pass this invisible barrier and actually get lost in this setting they made.
Plus side note, 3rd person combat is amazing. I love it in Gears of War, I love it in For Honor. Being able to see the character you play move around and fighting is amazing. I always hated first person gameplay when it came to making your character from the fact you can never see your character in 1st person. What's the point of making a big bad ass in awesome looking decorated armor if you only get to glance it in the mirror while editing the gear. For Honor had a great sense of in your face heated combat while also allowing you to watch your character perform it's moves like a cinematic or movie.
I enjoy PVE coop much more than PVP. Im not a pro but not a noob in the game. It just that in PVE I can truely immerse myself to the characters, truly see their beautiful cuztomizations in action, their fight animations, their movement. Press X to walk in this breach mode in the middle of the battle hearing screams and metal crashing, oneshot the creeps, see the ram actually break the wall model, is so badass to me
Time in time I rewatch this video and every damn time I get goosebumps. I will forever miss this game, I'll miss the characters I like, I'll miss this combat system, but not as much as I'll miss the main story of For Honor.
Only complaint with the last bossfight is how Orochi was the one who finished the job felt kind of anticlimactic for me but Warden giving the Warlords his sword to have a one last duel was awesome
Btw i recently played Of Orcs and Men (quite an old game) and now that you mention it i see the same thing happen in both games, albeit in different ways. Apollyon has you bring out the worst in people, making them her soldiers or having them die, and Barimen does the same thing, more to his own benefit though, letting you kill the emperor to take his place and build an alliance between his empire, the elves and dwarfs to eradicate the orcs and goblins. It seems that the most recognisable and compelling villains are those who make you work for them, who build their plot in a way that can be seen from two sides, but have you believe in only one of them, even though the hints were there all along. And that is mostly a sign of not only of a good game, but more than anything of good writing and a talent for storytelling.
her character reminds me of heath ledger joker and the major from hellsing ultimate not at all concerned with their own life per say but fully devoted to a cause to create chaos

It fascinating to hear what she has to say on all the topics and she doesn't just how right dismiss things that aren't war.It makes her
It's also an amusing mental image of Apollyon sitting through various church sessions and paying genuine attention or examining and appreciating art.
And all for What?"

Apollyon: "Eh...Heheh.....You are...As naive as the day I left you......See for yourself....Even if...I die.....War......will still.....rage.....on........"

So glad I'm not alone. Apollyon has to be one of, if not flat out, my favorite antagonist(s) in fiction. I was surprised at how good the ending was. It had teeth, which was... interesting, coming from Ubisoft.

I guess we're at a point (generally, not just in video games) where simple stories that just work are "mid" instead of "good", where we all expect something to be always extraordinary, and can't get satisfied enough by the ordinary
Big Knight fights Big Viking fights Big Samurai is good enough for me
9:55 "For Honor has strayed so far from what it used to be, it pains me to think about what this game could be if we had kept the original aesthetic" Couldn't have said it better myself.
Warlord: "So what did we say?"
Valk: "I don't speak Japanese"
That is my favorite interaction in the story.
Peak fiction

Duty... Kinship... Honor. You've forgotten what you are."
"War... All you want is war."
"All I want is for you to admit what you really are. My... Wolves.."
Man I love Apollyon's last scene so much I still go back and watch it.
Yeah honestly I feel like that would have been much better hearing characters interact with each other mid fight it would be so cool
Like the "I don't speak japanese"
However
I wish I could hear my boy Cent all the time as a narrator.
I truly love Appolyon and warden voice. And the campain lore, Appolyon pholosophy is great to witness and ending in the Appolyon castle is just pure perfection. I totally agree on that. Lore reading Appolyon is gorgeus, If only we could get more female characters like her
I wish there were singleplayer dlc's for the game
What do you mean? That line is peak For Honor
That isn't Gudmundr. Gudmundr dies to the warden. Stigandr iirc is the warlord.
The situstuon leaves us with the notion that 'fighting is wrong' while with Appolyons dying breaths shows the player *fighting is in their nature*
For as much flak as the campaign mode ever got, can't say it didn't poke the brain with some damn good food for thought.
Finally someone recognizes For Honor’s story. I sure do miss the early days ;(
I loved the part where the viking says "ÉG RÍFI ÞIG Í BITA!" that stuck with me.
"As long as there's two people left on this planet, someone is gonna want someone dead" - Sniper tf2
The thing that sticks with me and really makes this campaign good and memorable is the near perfect blend of cheese/camp with serious undertones. For every "rAiDeR!!" You have a "I took an oath to fight for peace. So did you. All of you."
That and I just adore the setting. The idea of a humanity pushed to the brink with some people desperately trying to pull it back from the edge while others fan the flames is just so interesting and fun for me. Alongside the bleak atmosphere and ceaseless, unrelenting war it's all just 👌
It reminds me of 40k in a lot of ways, actually. But with the restraint to ease up on the edginess every once in a while, so you have just a smidge of levity to juxtapose the hopelessness and violence.
it breaks my heart to think about the potential of this campaign
The For Honor campaign is one of my favorites of all time. I am happy that someone is finally giving it some credit.
It was like no other man, I'll truly miss the beginning stages of this game and all the roughness that it had.
man, the campaign really does remind me of the love that used allowed to be poured into it. its a shame money wins out over love
Lol, lmao even
That's be cool.
"You're here because you wanted to be something you're not. A hero." -Apollyon, probably.
The characters personalities are my favorite part of the game. A single player or coop mode/game with some real effort could be great.
I hadn't realized she wanted to die, but knew that she didn't mind dying. She accomplished her goal, win or lose.

I absolutely love Apollyon, the badass character, the awesome VA, everything.
Id love to see the folks behind the Fallout show do a For Honor show.
My intreperation of Apollyon was that she wasn't even an actual person, just the combined symbol for the human nature, everyone just deciding against their better judgement to cause more conflict.
For Honors campaign is a museum of a time long past wrapped up in an amazing story.
At least for me.
I will never get over the stretchy chainmail on the knights
6:33 Apollyon's theme fading in is so excellent here.
Anyone else find it weird that every hero in for honor is a vampiric necromancer who recovers from injuries by brutalizing their enemies?

thank you for telling more people about this masterpiece
The cutscene between the warden and the warlord was hauntingly beautiful and I've been saying it for years. Like Jesus christ
Now talk about the funny rocks from year 4, and how much of a "cool" idea it was
THE EXAGGERATED SWAGGER OF A BLACKstone knight
I just love the story mode of this game, compared to many other fighting game story modes, For Honor's is the best I've played and seen. Honestly, the story mode is just great, and now I'm in the mood to play it again.
i think this follows the saying "if you do something right, barely anyone will notice"
this might fight the story. they did it right.
i personally loved it. it was short but it was great.
i wouldnt want it any different. i dont want anyone to try and replicate it because i dont think they could come close.
just leave it as is.
The ending of the knight story is so good because the Viking warrior crying humanizes the Vikings and shows how war does indeed affect others and not just you
This video is just as artful as the for honor story line it makes me want to cry how comes I didn’t find you sooner
2:48 We have a Man of culture here!
For Honor's campaign mode is unironically one of the best 2010s co-op campaign experiences out there in my opinion. Thanks for the dope video
Apollyon pulled off a perfect Xanatos Gambit
I’ve always thought this. I have a vivid memory of the final fight between orochi and Apollyon, the voice acting gave me chills bru
I like how the game that has a story about war and making it last has a community that makes war on almost everything
All I'm saying, ill be Apollyon's special little boi
It's such a shame this game didn't get the mainstream love after launch. It is byfar my favorite Multiplayer game.
Dude I totally didn’t pick up on that she wanted to die to continue the war. Even more appreciation for the story now. Thank you
My man overdosed on copium
her character reminds me of heath ledger joker and the major from hellsing ultimate not at all concerned with their own life per say but fully devoted to a cause to create chaos
