      Oh god no, you're doing such a disservice to art by using the "how does it make you feel" argument. What about all the writers and painters and developers that don't give a fuck about your feeling but wanna tell an interesting story that makes sense?

    • @lucaspoon4202
      @lucaspoon4202 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@Neo2266. The only way an "interesting story" matters is if it gets you emotionally invested, either through compelling characters and/or themes. A story could have the most twists and turns, but the only way any of that matters or feels groundbreaking is if we care about the world itself or the characters being changed.
      Hence, "feeling" matters.

    • @octaviusleheny2956

      @@lucaspoon4202 Both are correct, but your point is dependent on neo's. If you want to ignore an artist or writer's intent, that's your choice. Created works mean different things to different people as we all view them through our own experiences and pre-conceived notions. But that doesn't mean the beholder's interpretation trumps the artist's. That opens up the pandora's box of 'this can mean anything to anybody, therefore it's all meaningless'. But this doesn't make sense because the only reason you originally connected with it is because it does mean something.
      The best stories understand that things still have to make sense logically at their foundational level so that the emotional connections can be formed off of that base. Of course feelings matter! But without a tether to reality, our feelings can be extremely dangerous--just look at Wilson Fisk's character in this season.

    I never cared for art. It wasn’t until I saw this scene I finally understood it. I now have two art pieces hanging on my wall and I use that philosophy every time I look at a painting.

      It's one of the things that i love so much about art and especially about abstract painting. The dynamic the painting gets once the paint leaves your brush and someone else than you (the artist) is looking at it. As if it became alive when being seen by acquiring a new meaning, evry time someone sees something new or different in it.

      When i was younger i would spend tens and tens of hours perfecting an image, porportions, lighting, plastics etc. But when i finished i had one motive, one image. And the painting became irrelevant to me. Others loved it and appreciated the execution. I can make alot of improvements executionwise still. But i'm perfectly capable or doing pictures that look realistic now. It wasn't until then, that i wanted to create something with a more permanent meaning to it. Abstract paitings do that for me.

      Because it happens at the end of the third of three episodes we’ve gone without seeing the main antagonist, only hearing about him in hushed whispers from underlings or associates. We don’t know much about him, but know that he is very connected, very meticulous, and very ruthless. This is emphasized in the scene just before this one, where a battle-hardened, highly skilled hit man and martial artist chooses to kill himself rather than go to jail after giving up the main antagonist’s name, simply because he’s that afraid of said antagonist. Not to mention the manner in which this hit man kills himself is rather brutal and shocking; right after that, we jarringly transition to a more relaxed atmosphere for socialites and aristocrats to gawk at expensive works of art. It further emphasizes just how detached and indifferent this antagonist is from the violent world we’ve been venturing through since the first episode.
      And we couldn’t be more fascinated by him.
