    The Alpha SV jacket is the top of the line civilian version of the Arc'Teryx Leaf Alpha jacket made for military and law enforcement !

    Hey
    Question?
    CN you get wrinkles and creases out of this jacket?
    I have some creases in my alpha sv where I rolled it up and packed it up
    Thanks for the review

      Low Temp iron will work. The 3 ply goretex is layered (the way your smart phone screen protector stick to the glass) and sometimes air bubbles can appear and look like wrinkles. You can use a low temp Iron to smooth it out. But as an purely outdoor piece it shouldn't look bad wrinkled. It actually part of the appeal.

    Imagine if $800 covered your rent or mortgage.... What are you TALKING about?

    • @olaf2046

      Indeed times have changed. $800 won't even get groceries to feed a family of four for a month.

    Personally, I think that $800 for the Alpha SV is worth it. I use it enough for skiing, hiking, biking, etc. Not sure you’re qualified to be making this review if you think it’s “just a raincoat.”

    • @olaf2046
      @olaf2046  2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I've been wearing these jackets over 20 years in all types of conditions and guess what I survived white outs and baby avalanches in jackets costing a quarter of the Alpha. Yes it's just a rain coat...to most people buying it who will use it as that. Which is what my point is. Don't buy this to get groceries or kick it with your friends at the outdoor bar drinking pumpkin spice. You'd be wasting a lot of money just to look cool. In your case Karst8r the $800 spent is an investment into keeping you alive and safe during your extreme adventures. I basically said as much in the first minute of the video. You have to remember more people will watch my video on this jacket than will actually buy and use it for what we do. So I have to warn them to not waste their money. Like the middle age guy crawling in city traffic daily in his $150,000 BMW M5 competition. Waste of money if you can't use what you bought for what it was intended.

    No windbreaker, waterproof jacket is with $800 not even $300 🤦🏼‍♂️
    To many fools out there and not enough time.
    I'm going to have to start making $2,500 Tshirts and jump on this bandwagon of over paying fools. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    Thanks for another great review.

    • @olaf2046
      @olaf2046  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! Reminds me of the time we went into a Burberry store to pick up a corporate gift and I decided to browse around and they had these really nice hand made leather oxford shoes for $800 and I thought they were pricey until I saw a rack with oversized fashion T Shirts selling for $400 to $900. I had to ask the sales person if that makes any sense for a basic white logo t shirt to cost more than leather dress shoes and more than most of their tailored suits and jackets? I was told rich people don't look at price tags when they come in to shop. :-(

      @danieIlondon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Don’t agree. Do you know the technical specifications of the alpha sv? 100 denier face fabric. The most durable material available on any jacket you can find. There are jackets for 5 dollars. There are jackets for 100 and there are jackets for 800. You are paying for their development, research, labour, durability and lifetime warranty. Maybe go to -30 Celsius weather and when you are saved by your 800 dollar jacket, you will know when it’s worth it.

    • @ELEVOPR
      @ELEVOPR 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danieIlondon Have you tested it in -30 Celsius? Not 90 Degree NY Weather but Antarctica Weather?
      I don't believe the hype, plus most people won't be subjective in such cold weathers, I really don't see why the average person would spend $800 Even though it is marketed for Mountain ice climbers or Antarctica scientists, Yet there are fools that will buy this, never ever needing it. That was my point.
      Now go test that Jacket in Antarctica and let me know how it goes 😂
      Love your videos Bro. keep up the good work.

      @@ELEVOPR I haven’t been to freezing Arctic conditions. Will I? I don’t know. My point is that this coat is for people who need this level of equipment. This coat is overkill for 99% of people, but for the 1% who need it, it’s perfect. It’s like spaceships, once you get past a certain level, each 0.1% improvement costs millions of dollars. I think most people who criticise the price have never owned such a jacket and don’t appreciate the research, materials and quality that has gone into it. What is stupid is Versace and Gucci t shirts that sell for 500 usd but are made in Thailand and only use 10 worth of materials. Arcteryx are a quality company for people who need the best.

    • @danieIlondon
      @danieIlondon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And the reason I spent so much? I never buy useless crap but enjoy walking in nature, the coats I use last me 10-15 years, so I prefer investing more in something that is good quality. On the other hand, the north face is crap quality and I agree people shouldn’t buy their overpriced crap. With this jacket in particular, no other manufacture is currently offer 100 denier face fabric! It’s the most durable.
