I have had this since January and no regrets. It is over priced let’s be honest, but you are getting a very nice jacket that you’ll want to wear. If you aren’t keen to spend the money, then the rab xenair alpine light is a very good option that I almost went for, but had the extra cash for this. True what you say it does keep you warm on most cold days in uk, but would also not melt you in summer - not sure how they do this but it works
I’ve literally just sold my Atom AR (now “Heavyweight”). Was a lovely jacket but I bought it a size too big. I replaced with a C2R Fortuna…..only worn it once, so too early to give a proper opinion but initially, it’s nice. Didn’t go with an Arteryx again purely because I wanted to try something different. I do wish they hadn’t limited their LEAF range to military/LEO types…..some of the features of those jackets just make so much sense to me (case in point, stowable hood on their Alpha hard shell or more pockets on the Cold WX). As a side note and nothing to do with this video, any chance you could give us your thoughts on the recent limitation of 6.5mm Creedmoor to .338 approved ranges only. I’m hoping it’s an initial ban on other ranges and will be subject to a review/implementation of additional safety changes.
Your Arcteryx is better than the equivalent form Haglofs or Mountain Equipment, but it isn't a hundred pounds better. You can get something as near as makes no difference as good, for significantly less. Having said that I will sometimes buy it in the sale.
Just got mine in Vitality. Looks gorgeous. Cooler weather coming, so I'm looking forward to wearing it all of the time. Mercedes and BMW are also overpriced. A Hyundai will do. You get what you pay for.
@@SonofChurchill I've had my Atom LT jacket, Atom LT hoody and Atom SV hoody since 2014. So, I'm really not sure about newish. Maybe to the hip hop and rap communities.

Fantastic review!!! Could you start doing more of these types of reviews primarily covering down & synthetic jackets please.?
Looks really decent. I'd also recommend the Carinthia MIG 4.0

Looking for something like that for informal walk up shoots.

All you need: ATOM, BETA LT, COVERT CARDIGAN.
Is that an Omega GMT? if you haven't done so yet, you should review that watch ⌚
@@REEE_Larson it is and I certainly can!
What size are you wearing please ? And how tall are you ?
@@bshaw274 I am 5ft 9" 44" chest, 32" waist. I am wearing large.
great review. i dont wanna sound weird but whats your skincare routine, you have nice skin for your age.
@@AdamH-n3l Well that is a first! I have no skincare routine. Maybe gunpowder residue and machine oil!
@@thatgearguy probably just good genetics then lol
I don't mind at all paying for decent quality stuff, there's no doubt that this is over priced though
It is all relative to the individual and how they perceive price.
is this jacket good for cold weather?
Yes and for extreme cold it is a great midlayer which is really what it was designed for.
Great jacket , it’s the design and quality that makes the difference especially the hood
The newish kid on the block! Not for me over priced logo. Old days was Northface & Rab

I prefer proton way over atom
So it’s a ski jacket.
@@scubasteve3032 No, they would be a lot thicker and heavier.
