Our city needs to look into voting for a new Mayor, he keeps interfering with the Birmingham police being able to do their job. He keeps running good folks off and putting people in that position, but he’s not letting them do their job to the fullest. The mayor doesn’t have any police experience,most of his experience is in Education but can’t seem to let the department do what needs to be done. You would think he would be onboard with getting crime down since he just had a child. There’s other things that need addressing like the filthy roads littered with trash, our garbage system that has taken away 2 pick up days from the citizens. People having to store their trash all week for one pick up day, talk about increasing the rats and bugs in our city. The money they were given didn’t buy all the trucks needed to service all commmunities, yet they spent it on the garbage cans that are very hard for older people to even lift there trash to put it in these trash can, then push it out to the streets. Not everyone has a small family that one day a week will be sufficient for trash pick up. The men on the regular trucks are having to pull the trash out of these oversized trash cans because their didn’t buy the trucks that are used to pick trash up out of these cans. You aren’t allowed to use your own trash cans,if you have an overflow of trash you are required to buy a second trash can from them out of your pocket. It’s absolutely unsanitary to only pick up trash once a week. I feel bad for the men having to pull trash out of these huge trash cans and for the older people that are trying to push these trash cans to the street which are probably taller than some people. I certainly will be voting different when it comes time for a new mayor. Crime in this city is horrible even though he’s not responsible for it, he is responsible for letting offficers do their jobs that’s what they know how to do.
