In the original, in a radio call after Mike's death, Saddler compares it to killing a fly and Leon responds that insects' lives doesn't compare to human lives.
Funnily enough, in the Remake it is actually insects that kill Mike.
Also, in the original, Leon and Mike knew each other, while in the remake he had to introduce himself

Leon doesn't know Mike, Mike is an errand soldier at Hunnigan's orders. Both in the original and remake versions
I like the dichotomy: Original Mike is a professional who does ludicrous amounts of damage and gets punked by an RPG he really should have seen coming. In the Remake, Mike is having the time of his life until he runs out of ammo and then gets wrecked by something he had no way to deal with.
I think it would have been a cool detail to give him a handgun and have them shoot a few through the windshield.
To be fair, sending a chopper alone to fight a fortified position that's furthermore enclosed sounds like a reciper for disaster to begin with. It's a testament to Mike's skills that he was even sent in the first place.
The rpg is still better. How does he not have a side arm to deal with bugs. Also the slowdown was cool.
Bro he is a PILOT. They got a lot to deal with in a helicopter already, and they are NOT usually trained to deal with a threat LATCHED to the outside of the helicopter. Why would he think he needed a damn gun INSIDE his helicopter when its armed to hell

With Mercenaries coming out later, it would be incredible to see a side mission featuring Mike post-crash.
Like, armed with an MP5; you have to fight your way out of the castle to safety.
If it's anything like the survivors missions in re2, then we could start with a severely injured one-hit from death Mike or, Mike is always bleeding and requiring constant meds throughout the mission. Both would be interesting.

We only knew Mike for about 5 minutes. But we had more of a connection with him than anyone else.

@@vidirachman Saddler got access to a legit warship in the original, had CIWS and a multiple naval guns. Ada had to blow it up in her side story.
It's purely a dev decision to give Leon a fighting chance and not turn RE4 into a cover shooter that the military ganados didn't all have rifles.

You'd be surprised, the closest real life example would be the *WW2* British pom-pom AA gun and they were littered everywhere on British warships back then.

To be fair, in the original, his death was pretty straightforward, but in the remake, well...
those bugs are a lot more survivable versus a rocket to the face.
Imagine Mike as a mercenary where you just fly his helecopter over the maps and rain hell on everything. The leaderboard numbers would be insane lmao.

tbh he's just like the og but with more passion and energy in his dialogues now, i think most real pilots are like that in real life but i think it's subjective and i know what you talking about a chill terminator is more badass but for me mike's personality in remake is more realistic
His new version makes me think of Ellis from L4D2. All he's missing is some stories about his buddy Keith. Love the OG voice as well.

4:48 this part was so EPIC for me as a kid playing on Gamecube. Wish they would have kept those scenes in remake. The way Mike dies in original Resident Evil 4 is same way helicopter is destroyed in Resident Evil 3 Nemesis after Jill leaves Clocktower.

Mike's accent sounds Cajun in the remake and sounds Brooklyn in the original. I like both, I just think its an interesting change. It makes sense though, a lot of midwestern and southern military aviators.

The remake version makes MUCH MORE SENSE AND COOLER than the original version (where Mike's death seems comical)... Instead of getting caught off-guard by RPG because he is chit-chatting with Leon, this time Mike needs to be low and stationary since he needs to pick Leon up with rope ladder... and he's not being careless, since the enemies are unknown type that can literally turn invisible.

It's the model in the helicopter that you can see via free-cam, so it is his face we just don't get to see it without modding the game.
The way Mike's death was handled bodes ill for the remakes. This in addition to the focus on Wesker and his spiel at the end speaks to 5 being the next remake instead of them doing the one that needs to be made: Code Veronica.

Combat pilots are supposed to have a SERE kit. Since Mike didn't use it to fight the bugs before the crash, he could use it to escape.

Combat pilots in light helicopters are nuts there was a video where a Kiowa Warrior was going after a bomb maker fleeing on a dirt bike so the helicopter pilot pulls out his M4 hovers low and pops the guy. They would do shit like sweep enemies with machineguns and rockets while 10 feet of the ground going full speed.

I think I like OG Mike more just because he and Leon have some interaction over the radio, albeit brief. There's something about that Bronx accent for a kick-butt attack chopper pilot rather than a cowboy one.
