They originally were going to have a different line, but couldn’t get it to work, so they just went with the original line for kicks and sure enough, it worked out perfectly.
He has some really good ones during the actual boss fights. Mendez says “Lord grant me your strength”. Leon replies “Running out of options huh?” Right at the start of the Salazar fight, if you run around collecting ammo rather immediately dealing damage to Salazar, they cleverly sneak in the conversation from the original about Salazar’s “crappy script” and the challenge for Leon to show him “what a world class script looks like through your own actions.” During the end fight against Saddler, after Saddler does a big monologue trying to be God, Leon will say “thank you for the sermon, father. But I’m afraid I need forgiveness. I’m about to kill.”
Tbh my two favorite lines in remake was looks like your tap dancing days are over. And also when you kill Mendez leon says the most bad ass shit ever give my regards to your god.

Slightly more possible that he could bail out before the crash in the remake but it would be into a swarm of novistadors. Either way, Leon certainly doesn't think that he survived and the island explodes not super long after.

And they made the ashley section actually fun. The section your on the truck ashley is driving got replaced with the wrecking ball section. I think overall alot of the sections just would have ruined the pacing.

Imagine dedicating your entire life to a plan that took centuries to set up, only to have some snarky-ass twenty-seven-year-old kid tear it down in less than three days.
This remake was a fun ride. They did really good with this one. I love how I could recognize everything from the original (which I played dozens of times and know by heart), but some things were just different enough that it threw you off a little bit. Everything was the same, yet different which kept it both fresh enough that you wanted to see what comes next but also strangely nostalgic because you've already been here so many times before. So the entire game feels like a strange combination of excitement to see what was next mixed with nostalgia, because you already know to some extent. You just wanna see what the changes are and how they handled it. 9.5/10. Will play again.
I love when Leon is fed up with Ramon’s bull crap and shoots him while he’s in the middle of his evil villain monologue. That part made me laugh out loud for a good 30 seconds or so when I first saw it.

I’m glad they balanced out humour and seriousness just right. Also the era appropriate jokes were plentiful in the game. So even if it wasn’t as corny as before it was still entertaining enough just fine.

I like that the case charms are everyone's original designs, *and* they have the localized names for all the enemies (Dr. Salvadore, Don Miguel, etc.) as well.
One change I love in this remake is that he cut off Salazar during his monologue and shoots him in the head. He’s tired of his villain speeches, and just wants to get past Salazar so he can resume saving Ashley.
I really love how the RESI games can be dark, gloomy, serious and then one of the characters would throw some goofy one liners as if it's a cool and appropriate thing to say. They are really good at making your ass tight from the horror and chuckle from the cheesy jokes. I don't know if it has been done before but I really wish to watch a movie like that. It's just so much fun
I agree, but him fully disagreeing with Luis smoking instead, made the scene where he dies hit so much harder, since Leon picks up Luis lighter and helps him light his cigarette before he dies. 😭 Got gum is hilarious so I still wish they kept it, and perhaps added how cigarettes will kill him as a throw away line later on.
Leon has a whole mini arc between Re2 and Re4. Re2 gave Leon the lighter as his personal item, implying he smoked as a cop; by Re4 he's apparently kicked the habit, possibly thanks to nicotine gum, which is why he automatically connects "a smoke" with gum when Luis asks for one. Chris has a similar arc, going from smoking in the original game to not smoking in Code Veronica, 5, 6, or 7, to needing a cigarette to settle his nerves after Ethan is killed due to his inaction in Re8. I've not been a super huge fan of the direction the series has gone since Re7 but I still appreciate that Capcom has the knack for the small, nonverbal storybeats like those.

I really love how the RESI games can be dark, gloomy, serious and then one of the characters would throw some goofy one liners as if it's a cool and appropriate thing to say. They are really good at making your ass tight from the horror and chuckle from the cheesy jokes. I don't know if it has been done before but I really wish to watch a movie like that. It's just so much fun

I agree, but him fully disagreeing with Luis smoking instead, made the scene where he dies hit so much harder, since Leon picks up Luis lighter and helps him light his cigarette before he dies. 😭 Got gum is hilarious so I still wish they kept it, and perhaps added how cigarettes will kill him as a throw away line later on.
Leon has a whole mini arc between Re2 and Re4. Re2 gave Leon the lighter as his personal item, implying he smoked as a cop; by Re4 he's apparently kicked the habit, possibly thanks to nicotine gum, which is why he automatically connects "a smoke" with gum when Luis asks for one.
Chris has a similar arc, going from smoking in the original game to not smoking in Code Veronica, 5, 6, or 7, to needing a cigarette to settle his nerves after Ethan is killed due to his inaction in Re8.
I've not been a super huge fan of the direction the series has gone since Re7 but I still appreciate that Capcom has the knack for the small, nonverbal storybeats like those.
