As someone who has just done this trip - certainly not luxurious. Cabins are shabby small and falling apart. Nothing to do on board apart from eat and drink. Train is so unstable. Screeching lurching and countless stops along the journey. None of our party slept due to violent movement of the train - we actually thought we'd hit something twice as such an abrupt stop. Food was nice but little of it - only one choice of menu each night with crocodile and ostrich so not to everyone's taste. Service was exceptionally slow at dinner. Dinner was at 7.30pm - still eating at 10pm. No wi fi on train and told to only use phone in cabins so bit like being in a prison room. Btw, shutters had to be down in cabin as we stopped so often to change parts on train that security was a problem. Also cant lock cabin doors from outside. Overall, poor experience that was exceptionally bad for the cost. Never again.
Vos is not an Englishman and has zero "Victorian" nostalgia. His a Boer! Remember the Anglo-Boer war that destroyed the British empire forever? I'm sure you'll try plug your ears. Come and enjoy Boer luxury in Africa!
