beautiful, powerful song, with so much meaning in it. for those that are wondering it's about someone he knew when he was younger. everyone knew she was being abused, but nobody did anything, and when he grew up he realised he should have done something, and this song is kind of an apology for not acting then.
My name is Kristy, and this song has touched me in such a way that one day when i was severly depresed i came across this song, i have had shingles and still do its been almost five years with ongoing pain. i have thought of suicide just to escape the pain and pressure, but i am ok now. It is hard to be depressed and still carry on when you are not very strong youself
The Offspring were the first band I ever really followed, and I've been a diehard fan since Americana, over a decade ago. This song shows how far they've come as a band, and it's really fantastic.
Thank you for this. Each day of high school, I yearned that somehow, someone would discover my secret, that someone would help save me from this nightmare. Nobody ever did. I had to live with the horrors of abuse and the feeling of being so dirty every day. I hope that your ability to recognize what Kristy was experiencing will awaken others to the nightmare that is childhood sexual abuse. I'm 22 now, but I still struggle to not waste my whole life trying to get back what was stolen from me.
The line, "I didn't know, because we were so young" really gets me. It fits awkwardly in the song, but it really exposes the regret in his voice. I get the feeling he would give up all he has, just to know then what he knows now.
I think it shows real strength of character and true talent to be willing and able to perform such a powerful song so different from their usual stuff. Kudos.
What a great song. I have a lot of musical interests, but this song just hits me real hard with my feelings. I myself, was abused as an infant. Offspring is not the only band I listen to. I love all of their cds though.
i realy belive that the offspring are 1 of the most underapreciated fascets of modern american music, their one of only a few band that made it to the top by truly having and original sound and working for what they love... being an independent lable band in an age where media and pop culture decides weather you sink or swim, its amazing the offspring made it as far as they did... i am greatful for their inspiration to me and everything they have done... keep on rockin! HALLAND FOR PRESIDENT!!
Lyrics: There's a moment in time And it's stuck in my mind Way back, when we were just kids 'Cause your eyes told the tale Of an act of betrayal I knew that somebody did Oh, waves of time Seem to wash away the scenes of our crimes For you this never ends Can you stay strong? Can you go on? Kristy, are you doing okay? A rose that won't bloom Winter's kept you Don't waste your whole life trying to get back what was taken away Though the marks on your dress Had been neatly repressed I knew that something was wrong And I should have spoke out And I'm so sorry now I didn't know 'cause we were so young Oh, clouds of time Seem to rain on innocence left behind It never goes away Can you stay strong? Can you go on? Kristy, are you doing okay? A rose that won't bloom Winter's kept you Don't waste your whole life trying to get back what was taken away Oh, clouds of time Seem to rain on innocence left behind It never goes away (It never goes away) It never goes away Can you stay strong? Can you go on? Kristy, are you doing okay? A rose that won't bloom Winter's kept you Don't waste your whole life trying to get back what was taken away Don't waste your whole life trying to get back what was taken away
WOW. Thank you for writing and making this film. As a survivor I know the need for the silence to be broken. And we must continue to say it, as unfortunately the silence is not broken totally yet. I (with others) do this. So thank you again for adding this voice, for so many who still have no voice... but through us. Together, we can, and do, make a difference. All the best John
A beautiful song (and from reading the comments) very well done. Our hearts go out to you Kritsy if you are still alive and we hope you have had a good life despite the start you had. Peace out.
This song describes me. On the outside I look like a happy and confident person, but on the inside I'm constantly scared and worried and self conscious, constantly abused in my house and neglected and in school I'm always worrying about my grades and paranoid about my social life and worrying all the time about who I'm in love with. The last year really showed me what the worlds about
This song really hits me because A) my name is Krysti =D B) when I was 14 I was raped, and ended up pregnant with twins, who were born at 22 weeks and died...then my mom died 6 years later...My sons would be 7 this year, and my mom has been dead for almost 7 months...and this song is literally almost word through word what my husband has said to me....makes me cry everytime =)
i saw someone post on one of their older songs that the offspring shouldnt be doing softer songs like this, but i think it sounds just as good as anything theyve ever put out, i love them
Since I heard this song it had become one of my favorite from this band, I know it's not typical punk song, but this ain't typical punk rock band either. These guys are truly amazing song writers
This is a beautiful music video and song to go with it... Really makes you reflect on those girls in grade school who seemed to be popular or had "everything going for them" and in reality what they really might have been going through.
this song is beautiful. its amazing to me that anyone could dislike. i mean the video got the point across flawlessly and the topic brought a tear to my eye
Great song. It's nice, that Offspring makes songs like that. Their creation is much more versatile. And those lyrics and the story behind the song. Not just some random words ja thoughts. It has a point. And that what makes it so good. Just love it. Keep it up Dexter !
This is by far the song to hit me the most...... I knew a girl who was abused like that. And actually look alot alike the girl who was depicting kristy. I tried to reach out and help her but it failed because like I said I " knew" her. About 2 years ago, her junior year she commuted suicide. I lost a good friend and a love that day. Offspring.... You guys rock
For some reason, and idk y, but I love it when a band shows their "soft side". Like this song and Green Day with Good Riddance and Wake Me Up When September Ends. I guess it's just a constant reminder that we are all human.
I stayed strong. I'm moving on. I'm doing ok. I'm starting to bloom. Winter won't hold me back. I'm gonna live my life. To any of you that have shared a similar experience like Kristy and I, do the same. Things will get better.
I know a girl who I had been talking to for a few months, she was always 'good'. so the first time she said she was 'ok', I knew there was something wrong. I asked her what was wrong and she told me so I helped her figure out what to do and she thanked me!:)
Im listenin to random old songs, then the guitar sound reminds me so much of this song. Luckily I still remember its name 😂 feel so so so so nolgastic right nowww :((( havent heard this song fr a long time
Thank you for all the advice :) i had the courage to talk to her and first she was like '' no there is nothing'' but i knew she didn't want to talk about it. so i sayd that she could tell me anything anytime and i would listen and yesterday she told me about her problem TY youtube pople for helping her out!
My friend posted this song to me recently... I think that The Offspring is my favourite band, I grew up on their music. I'm sorry that I don't listen them so often... And this song... Well, maybe it's because of my name and everything... but I love it! ( :
i love this song it shows that sometimes school can be fucking horrid even if you have friends and you seem happy i know it's about a girl who got abused but it has somthing from everyone in it

my names kristen and my best guy friend showed me this song when it came out and we've known each other since we we're kids and one night i was soooo depressed and he picked up my guitar and started to play this song. i'm glad to say i've been dating him for a year today. :)
;A; i allmost cryed i love this song!im glad i was on a page that had your gonna go far kid on it and at the end of the video it had this liked i really loved it!
This song Reminds me of myself.. I got to school everyday, you know i have all the friends and what not, But I'm not happy, But I put up that front like she does to make the people around me happy.. They really don't know, What is behind this mask.. I can really relate to this song..
@BeddyTearBigBearAndI oh man.... that sux glad to see that you have been able to come out the other side of it why do some people persist on screwing up someones life
"Don't waste your whole life trying to take back what was taken away."
The ending made me cry... to be honest.
Kristy is hot

I really like how this song branches off from The Offspring's usual dark tone and makes the band all that more deep.
My most favorite song off that album. Even though we don't hear this band on the radio as often now, they still make great songs.
The Offspring were the first band I ever really followed, and I've been a diehard fan since Americana, over a decade ago.
This song shows how far they've come as a band, and it's really fantastic.
Are you still a fan to this day tho
This comment being fourteen years old writing about a decade ago goes hard.
@@johnhealey9217damn same

The fact that this song has the most most replayed segments i have ever seen in the bar says everything that needs to be said about this song
Lyrics:

this song is so sad it just shows how all our actions affect the ones closest or not so close to us.
