C'mon guys. They were not trying to do MJ's version, you know that. The Ghoul was Kathy. Her idea to have Layne kick her out of the way. They had to go find a doll at a Halloween store that resembled her character. The makeup artist made the doll up to look like her, even though we never see the dolls face. Attention to detail. Love them!!
The original was 17 minutes long. They did a fantastic job compressing it into a song that paid homage to MJ but still made it their own. They are being considered as a nominee for a Grammy for their cover of MJ’s The Way You Make Me Feel AND Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame.
This one was fun! The floor zombie was Geoff’s wife Kathy, and it was her idea for Layne to kick the dummy doll across the room. Their makeup guy sold them on the idea of the progressive infection changes. It was a lengthy and challenging shoot but SO worth it!
I thought it was brilliant but well, who is surprised about that. lol There was enough of the original to pay homage but still make it their own. It's quite obvious why the guys have been considered twice this year for a Grammy. Oh and Jersey, as an a cappella group, you will never not get harmonies. It's kinda their bread and butter. Love you guys.❤
I never understand why ya’ll always seem to want a cover to sound just like the original. If you want to just hear the original… no need to listen to a cover. The whole point is to hear a different take on the song. It’s a cover, not karaoke.
Such a difficult arrangement - and they kept it on the shelf for a loooong time...because they wanted to get it right. Geoff's arrangement, so he would have put in and leave out. They had to 1) pay homage, 2) make it their own, 3) shorten it (obviously!), 4) make it acapella and 5) keep it entertaining ... They really didn't want to even try and totally replicate the iconic original. Thanks to VP for doing so much work just for us!! Thank you also for your reaction 😉🌹🕊
I remember when I saw this and got so excited I messaged it on Facebook messenger and Ogre saying they will be doing the reaction on Tuesday and drop it on Thursday!!!! You guys made me soooooo happy!
It's official, the spooky season is here! Incredible performance! Insane performance. The arrangement, narration, production and story were sensational. Love all the thought that went in to making this video. VP goodness! Thanks guys!
Nice reaction, glad you liked it! I love it! You have to admire their DEADication! And Kathy sure got a kick out of it! (I hope you watched the end with the BTS, it had some cool moments.) Oh, I just checked the original, which I also watched earlier. Vincent does do his laugh at the end, but there is indeed a while between it and his speech. When MJ turns around with the yellow contacts is when we get the laugh. So VP's pause was in line with the original. And the original, well, no one will ever be able to Beat It. But this is now my number 1 VoicePlay song. Never thought they could beat Valhalla Calling! It's very, very close, though. As for the creaking as Geoff rose, I have a theory he did that because he's often saying how "old" (HA!) he is and feels. So he was the one with the creaky bones. I gotta say though, even as zombies, I wouldn't kick any of them outta my crypt! 💙
One of he funniest parts wasn't in the video itself. When J. None was at the door trying to escape, the VoicePlay channel said in chat to ' try the lock, dummy'. LOL. Awesome job all around.
I was 16 when this song came out, and I can say, having seen the music video many times, that it was a perfect cover. A cover is not a moniker, but it's not a copy either.
All of them are wearing clothes that pay homage to MJ's outfit in the original without copying it. A more modern take on it! Geoff wanted the creaking/crackling of bones with his rise because he is the oldest, lol
In the original, the Vincent Price laugh was at the very end...not right after his monologue :) I NEVER liked this song to be honest. It is like nails on a chalkboard to me...but I absolutely adore this version !!!! Its so fun!
Jerzey is right and wrong. The song itself has the laugh directly after the monologue but the video the laugh is at the very end. They're leaving Michael's home and he turns to the camera. You hear the laugh begin and see Michael with those crazy contacts in. I remember so well because one of the contacts was off. The iris was looking of to the side. It made it even creepier.
Never been a real fan of this song or MJ if I am honest. Which is why it's kinda surprising to me that this has become one of my favorites of VP. As always, they respected the original while taking liberties and it worked. Thank you all for the reaction. It was fun.
I appreciate the opinions you guys have, good and bad. Like all the songs they do, they make it their own and not a karaoke version. Also, a lot of people seem to miss Layne and his carrot.
@@weaintraisedrightpodcast Right of course but they never do one to one covers. They always pay homage but always make the song their own. It sounded like you guys were expecting a karaoke version or something. No hate meant, just what I've noticed in your reactions as of late.
I agree, this wasn't supposed to be a perfect copy, and, frankly, I would not have liked it nearly as much if it was. I love Voiceplay's creativity and artistic flare. Michael Jackson's version was iconic. There will only ever be one Michael Jackson and one Vincent Price. They aren't trying to "copy" it, they're paying homage while making it their own. It was awesome.
Ogre: Welcome back to WARRP reacts AJ: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!! The fact that AJ said "YAY" like that, I was about to go to the bathroom and squirt some poop.
I love them but I will say I was disappointed with this one, don’t get me wrong they sound great, but I’m just not as amazed by it like some other videos.

I had a feeling it was Kathy. She's so great!

It was extremely difficult arrangement but it was done well I just love VOICEPLAY 😊😊😊
Notice the carrot through Layne's head toward the end? I see that the carrot joke between Layne and J.None is still going strong. 🤣

Thanks for saying what I wanted to say.
Yes, thank you for your comments!
Layne had a carrot through his cranium. Zombie Carrot Lord...
He had to do it because JNone was there to torment.

You could look at some of Geoff's solo projects about Halloween.
Specifically, Headless Horseman, Jack's Lament or Monster Mash
RIP Vincent Price
Thanks guys for another great reaction to Voice Play ❤
Our pleasure!

Actually, Eli is about a year older than Geoff and Layne, but Geoff is the one always saying that he's old. 🙂
@@vdoyne yep! I forget because Geoff is always saying he is old and boring!

I never liked MJ either or the song & loved Voice Plays cover better than the original or any other covers.
Well said!
Thanks for a "thrilling" reaction to VoicePlay, guys! 😂 What's spooky season without a dad joke here and there?! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!

I like that I thought it was cool and how about spreading some love to Jeff's wife who was the Ghol.

DeeJay Young would have been a better choice than J. None.
Vocally perhaps, but not for the video...
