I used to do emission testing years ago and I can tell you that changing your oil helps if it is past due especially and also making sure your car is driven pretty hard and it is fully up to operating temperature also helps this has nothing to do with the cars computer and the I/M readiness just some tips on making the exhaust come out cleaner if you have a car that is not passing due to actual gas emissions. On some cars the oil would get diluted sometimes and then you would get more blow by from the piston rings that would get mixed with oil vapors and sucked right back into the intake through the PCV system and this would cause higher CO readings changing the oil restored the ring seal and a lot of time that was all that was needed to make a car pass that was failing the test.
Hi Bill, thank you for pointing this out, I have been focus too much on the inspection monitors and should have done a better job reminds viewers about the importance of the oil change if actual emission probe is going to be placed in the tailpipe. For a long time the stop doing placing the emission probe in the tailpipe and relied on the obd2 readiness and just a quick visual test.
Hi I did everything on my 2021 Chevy Equinox check engine light still coming on not flashing just on and I am selling it to carmax end of this month my code reader says P1101 I changed the MAF sensor removed battery cables it drives like new but that light still on any ideas thank you kindly

One Critique: The 200/15 rule is only for California Smog tests. Does not Apply in other states.
