    There are two problems in my life motorbikes and boats. I love the freedom on both and both do not allow me my 6.5f. This is a lot of boat for my headroom. Thanks mate for your kind measurement in shower and doorway - I seriously appreciated that.

We ordered 60 boxes of 9L (external dimensions: 395 x 255 x 155) and 6 boxes of 19L (external dimensions 395 x 255 x 290) for both forepeaks. The brand is 'Really Useful Box'.

    Great video tour, thank you both. You would think you were experts and been doing it for years! One question i had for your new boat. You talk about a performance boat that can carry 3 tonnes of gear. It would be great to understand what gear you’re including or excluding in that 3 tonnes. Such as genny out, washer dryer in, bikes out etc…or is everything you showed us here 3 tonnes. Thank you

    • @SailingAWEN
      @SailingAWEN  ปีที่แล้ว

      All of the above... Light displacement is the base boat with its permanent equipment (mast, boom, engine(s)... ) so it doesn't include all your options like a generator, AC units, water maker, fuel, water, additional sails, number of crew + their personal stuff, food, tools, spare parts, dinghy, water toys... it's amazing the number of stuff you are tempted to add as a liveaboard cruiser but you really need to keep in mind the max loading capacity the boat was designed for if you want to maintain some performance.

    Can you give some more details about your energy management? I wonder how often you have to run your generator being on anchor. How many Amps your are getting from the solar. Do you run the aircon from batteries? thanks a lot for this nice presentation of the boat. one can see you invested a lot of work to make her better. congrats.

    • @SailingAWEN
      @SailingAWEN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our solar has been awesome! We never worry about power at all. We don’t use it to power the AC, that only runs off the generator and we’ve only used it 4 times this season to cool the boat down for 30 minutes before bed.

    Production tip: When exporting the video, put the audio on both tracks. It's trippy listening to it from one side.

    • @SailingAWEN
      @SailingAWEN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love your advice. We set up portable mics so each of us had separate tracks. When I edited it, I heard the separate tracks from both sides but when I played it back, I didn’t unless I was on AirPods, strangely because on my editing headset I only heard one. What setting should I use when I export to get it all on one track for every listener?

    From La Rochelle to Montenegro for the winter? That was probably not 'going with the wind, but staying in the money' - but very understandable of course. ... We all don't like to spend unnecessary, and there is so much opportunity out there for a saving and still having good life for many.

    • @SailingAWEN
      @SailingAWEN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching James and we definitely agree. The issue was our visas, we had to be out of Schengen and we were trying to get as close to Croatia as possible because that’s where we were planning to start the next season. Also, we wanted the boat out of the EU due to COVID should we not be able to come back to the boat the next season. We went home for the winter to see family. There is plenty to see in great places that are much more affordable, like Turkey, where we spent most of last season. It was so cheap, the marinas are nice and the people are amazing!

    Do you have the problem where the anchor chain piles up to the windlass and you got to scoop dow to level out the chains before operating the windlass again?

    • @SailingAWEN
      @SailingAWEN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has happened a few times in the past but in general we didn't have this problem. At the end of the first season I took the chain out to rinse it with fresh water and then organized about half of it neatly away from where it goes down under the windlass. I think it helped.

  • @nickmerritt
    @nickmerritt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great boat! Does the sun shades inside the windows work ok? We are working out where to put ours.

    • @SailingAWEN
      @SailingAWEN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sunshades in or out seems to be a religious debate. We like ours inside so we can take them down underway without going on deck. Some people like them out bc they say it protects the windows but it also collects salt, which can scratch the windows too so…

    Are these 8m Beam Cats too wide?

    • @SailingAWEN
      @SailingAWEN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Our new Outremer 52 will be 7.89m. It's just one important dimension among many others when designing a catamaran. What's your concern about an 8m beam cat made for voyaging?

    • @chasx7062
      @chasx7062 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SailingAWEN If it is so wide, how can it sail in light winds?
      8m seems to be a sweet spot for catamarans.
