Well, it's almost complete. There's a successful earlier version (1.5 million views) in this channel. But it's only 114.5 minutes long. Sudipta provided me with a more complete version of the film and it's 152.75 minutes long (a full third longer). The original theater version is 162 minutes long. The Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema says this about Harano Sur:
The amnesiac Alok (Kumar) is rescued from
the asylum by doctor Roma (Sen) who takes
him to her father’s (Sanyal) edenic country
house. They marry, but a second accident,
and a new bout of amnesia, makes him forget
her and recall instead his earlier life as a rich
businessman in Calcutta. When Roma follows
him there, he does not remember her, but he
hires her as governess to his niece, causing
her considerable anguish. Moinak Biswas
characterised the film as a domestic
melodrama of ‘a subordinate woman winning
over her boss’s heart’, in the genre of English
novels such as Richardson’s Pamela (Biswas,
‘The Couple and Their Spaces: Harano Sur as
Melodrama’, 1995). Roma keeps trying to
stimulate the hero’s memory, using e.g. the
refrain of their wedding song (and the film’s
musical hit) Tumi je amar, but is unable to
reply when Aloke, haunted by her presence,
asks ‘Who are you?’. The plot provides a
schematic version of the classic Kumar-Sen
romance with a medical angle (cf. Sagarika,
1956; Deep Jweley Jai, 1959), many lavishly
mounted scenes of windswept expanses,
fluttering curtains, incense and mnemonic
objects such as a bunch of tube-roses,
countered by two abrupt eruptions of realist
outdoor locations (when Alok first recovers
his memory, and when Roma follows him into
his Calcutta office). The film was adapted
from Mervyn LeRoy’s Random Harvest (1942).
The main song - Tumi Je Amar - is very similar to another one by Hemanta Mukherjee, this time a duet with him and Geeta Dutt, from the 1958 Hindi-language film, Police - Chale Ham Kaha Kaho - and can be found here:

An Indian film (1) includes all audio and video elements. The "Work For Hire" provision (2) makes it clear that the work done by anyone hired by the producer(s) for the film (actors/actresses, scriptwriters, choreographers, music composers, lyricists, singers, etc.) belongs to the producer(s) and becomes a part of the film copyright. Film copyright in India (3) lasts for sixty years and any film and its songs released more than sixty years ago is in the public domain. No extensions, no renewals, no exceptions. This film is no longer protected by copyright.
I am a great fan of Uttam Kumar and Suchtkranken Sen, although I don’t understand Bengali language but the English subtitles are great. Thank you for putting it on TH-cam, I immediately Zelt enjoyed it…They don’t make movies like it anymore, and there are no actors like old world I ones….❤🙏

Hi Muz. I'm inclined to agree. From my point of view they're perhaps more accessible to westerners as they use a lot of the same film-making conventions. And, of course, Harano Sur is one of the very best. That doesn't hurt either.👍

৪০ দশকের আমেরিকান সিনেমা "রেনডম হার্ভেস্ট" অনুসারে নির্মিত এই অসাধারণ সিনেমাটি একাধিকবার দেখা সত্বেও খুব ভালো লাগে। সম্ভবত অজয় করের এটাই সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ পরিচালিত সিনেমা। এর ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড মিউজিক শুনতে কি যে মধুর লাগে, অন্যলোকে নিয়ে যায় মনকে। হয়তো হাস্যকর শোনাবে তবুও বলছি এই কাহিনী নিয়ে বর্তমান যুগের প্রেক্ষিতে একটি নাটক নির্মাণ করার সাধ হচ্ছে।

I was thinking could you please re-upload tarana 1951 ft madhubala, dilip kumar. actually the quality of that film is a little less then the rest of ur uploaded films. It would mean alot if you could re-upload that movie in a better quality. Otherwise it's fine also. anyways thank you for ur uplaods ❤❤❤❤
