They said that one time the All Blacks received a letter saying:"We are the New Zeeland nation. You must understand that rugby is a team sport,so all 14 of you on the field pass the ball to Lomu"😁😁

Wingers used to be smaller in stature. Lomu changed it all, 6'5", at least 265lbs and ran 100m in 10.7secs. He changed the game.

Several NFL teams tried to sign him as a Running Back. Dallas Cowboys around 1995 and the Denver Broncos around 2002 both made big money offers to him.

I remember when I was 16 years of age watching the 1995 Rugby World Cup. First time I got to see Lomu do what he does best. I went out and brought me my first All Blacks jersey back then. Been wearing my jersey with pride since. I’m so glad others are getting to see what a legend he truly was. Thanks 🙏 for the memories big fella. Rest in love up there!!

People talk up Bo Jackson……that’s cause in those days…..no one could tackle him cause they didn’t know how to tackle properly…..had Bo ran like that in NZ , Australia , England or South Africa back in those days in RUGBY…..he would’ve got bent backwards easy…like absolutely folded
There was no one like JONAH
    NO ONE!!……one in a TRILLION

With regard to ‘seasons’, rugby is traditionally a winter sport and for schools, clubs etc it is played through the winter months. At top level, between domestic competition, international ‘syndicate’ competitions such as Super Rugby and 5 Nations, and international test matches and tours it can last most of the year!

Touchdown makes more sense for rugby. ‘Try’ comes from over 100years ago, when no points were awarded for the touchdown but it earned you a chance to try to kick a goal.

Touch in rugby has a different origin. It relates to out of bounds, where the ball is dead if it, or a player in contact with it, touches the ground on the sideline (touchline) or over it.

Hi Boys. Came across your videos, good stuff.
Hey!!! Did you guys know that the pinnacle event in world rugby is coming to the USA in 2031 and 2033.
2031 men's rugby world cup and 2033 for woman.
I once saw a great video that explains rugby so will look for that and post the link

Oh and the RWC is only played every 4 years. The next one is in 2023 in France. Many world teams unfortunately don't even qualify so it really is only the best. The USA have played in a few RWC but lost to Chile, they still have one chance to get in for next year so fingers crossed. Rugby in the USA is definitely growing

To understand the impact Lomu made on arrival, imagine Randy Moss' rookie season, now imagine Moss was the size of a defensive end, and the biggest player on the field.

You said you " Wonder how long the crews last". If I understand you correctly you're asking if they keep changing the players as in American football. The team of 15 players ARE the crews. They play the full 80 minutes non stop with no time outs apart from 1 break half way through. The only time they leave the field is when they're badly injured or cut open.

His Black jersey is the New Zealand All blacks. That's the national team. The bland and white was the Barbarians, this is an exhibition team picked from players all over the world. The rest were various clubs he played for domestically.
The seasons are slightly different. In the UK there are 13 teams in the premiership (top flight) who play each other twice so that's 24 games in the domestic league. The leagues below have varying numbers, they can win promotion to the league above or be relegated to the league below.
The top teams in the premiership could also then play in the European league challenging for the best in Europe. There are also national cups that teams can go through until they are knocked out by losing.
In the top flight league, most of the international players are picked, especially for the top 10 nations in the world. This means they may have 5 games at the 6 nations (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy) during Feb and March each year. Then they may be involved in international tours during the summer and also during the Autumn internationals.
Every 4 years they may be involved with the world cup and then if they are good enough they may be picked for the British and Irish lions who tour every 4 years.
So no, it's not like the NFL as they seem to play way less games than a professional rugby player.

He is wearing the same jersey because ALL BLACKS are New Zealand, his national team, his country. When he is wearing black he is playing for his country internationally- you don't tend to switch nationalities. The haircut you keep going on about has to do with his ancestry. Please watch the haka at his funeral, it will help put things into context.

A few of my old international rugby league playing customers, changed nationalities multiple times, and some changed codes too.

@@danielgardecki1046 never said you can't, I said you DON'T TEND TO! -a whole different semantics there. We ALL know sports people who have CHOSEN to play for their parent's birth team because they are not switching, it's the nationality they align to- I'm British born but would, if had the choice and was good enough to be a professional sportsperson, prefer to compete under the Jamaican flag. I deliberately used the word switch- people don't tend to switch nationalities. Codes are a different thing but nationalities no, you don't just one day call yourself British then the next month decided you are French the next month decide you are Australian, name a player who has played for more than 3 countries for example. Hope that clarifies ...
