  • Welcome to one of America's oldest cities, New Castle Delaware. This colonial charm dates back to the 1600s and has seen British, Swedish, and Dutch rule. A quaint touristic town New Castle Delaware sits by the Delaware River. In this tour we travel across New Castle County to visit Lums State Park and Delaware City, home to the infamous Fort Delaware.

    I was born in 96 and I grew up just a mile and half away from the old town of Old New Castle. I also went to William Penn High School just down the road. I would take early morning runs at the park. Truly a place that takes you back in time. The residents are super nice and take pride in keeping the town persevered and clean. The people wouldn’t be afraid to put your behind in check if you so much as littered a tiny candy wrapper.
    I used to fantasize about being rich man and owning a decent home against that river. It’s so peaceful. I would think about being elderly and very happy while drinking coffee, watching the beautiful east coast sunrise. On a clear day, you can see the very tall buildings from Philadelphia looking in the NE direction while on the famous Battery Park pier. Look in direction of the Delaware Memorial Bridge, look just under the bridge in the distance on a clear day. (Thank me later.)
    Rich history along that Delaware River. The river served as the setting of many events in early America while never loosing an ounce of its raw beauty. I believe I am lucky to have brought up there. 🇺🇸

    I was born in Delaware. Wilmington actually & lived in Bear, Del. We had property in Odessa as well. But moved back to my fathers home town in the south, North Carolina, when I was 10 yrs old. I try to visit family in Delaware when I am able. I love the Delaware Bay bridge & traveling the tunnels of Chesapeake Bay Bridge!

      I recently went through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and it was such a delightful experience. Delaware is not too far from where I live i n NEPA and I can't believe It took me this long to explore. Its such a wonder state

    Thank you for such a good video on Delaware. I've probably watched 10 other TH-cam videos on traveling in Delaware and couldn't really find any thing in them that would compel me to drive out of my way to go to Delaware.
    Then I found your video talking about New Castle and the Delaware River and how it is the longest free running river in the country. Just really good quality information that's not just repeating info about Rehaboth I Beach and the names of the parks and the estate, but something that is interesting and unique to Delaware.
    Looking forward to your other videos!

      Thank you I really appreciate it. There's a lot of missed opportunities when talking about Delaware and it quickly became one of my favorite states when exploring it

    Great video my friend. I live in Delaware City. Born and raised in Newark. I am chuckling at how you pronounced "LOOMS" pond. It is Lums, like Yums. But you aren't local so you wouldn't know.

    Great video! Thanks for highlighting such a unique town. Jessop's Tavern is incredible - I highly recommend it. 6:20 you're incorrect - the Delaware River is not the longest free-flowing river in the US, the Yellowstone River is. Maybe you meant on the east coast? (also, it's pronounced, Luhms Pond, not Loom's Pond)

      Thank you for the great feedback Martin. Since this video I’ve gone back to the town 3 times and have stopped in Jessop. I’ve really fallen in love with this part of the Mid-Atlantic

    Cool video, the Delaware River never touches Maryland though... the C&D Canal does however.

    • @JoseOnTour
      @JoseOnTour  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Joe for the feedback. Yup, the C&D Canal connects to the Chesapeake Bay. I made a stop to try and capture the canal by the C&D Museum and just missed the museum by a couple of minutes (they closed at 4PM)

    I like your background music (too many times videos have what seems to be porn-y like background music)
    I also like the information you chose to put in and leave out. I also like lingering pictures, not flashes. Thank you. Well done.

      thank you for your feedback. I spent 15 years as a music producer and one thing I noticed across TH-cam, a lot of the music doesn't blend with the content.
