    It used to be my local airport and despite all the poor reviews, I’ve never had a bad experience there.
    I must have flown from LBA on around 30 occasions and not once did anything go wrong. No queues, no overcrowding and rarely any delays.
    I lived 30 minutes away and I found it an excellent little airport.

      I think the only issue with Leeds Bradford Airport is the fact it is one of the oldest, and hasn't had the expansion needed for the passengers at peak times. When I flew last time it was fine, but when you have school holidays summer flights, it struggles

      Same. I will say it does feel a little overcrowded at times due to its size and the increasing amount of flights, but I always felt getting through security and onto the plane has been done efficiently whenever I've used it.

    Having flown on a peak-time flight to Alicante during half term, I had a very positive experience. Efficient security (5 mins) with helpful staff, and the airport never felt super crowded anywhere. Way better than when I last flew from LBA, back in 2010, and significantly nicer than Manchester T3, which had the worst security I've ever experienced.

    Looks a hell of a lot better than the experience we had at Manchester terminal 2 last year. Minimum a half to threequarters of an hour queues for everything including the gents toilets! I fly from here on a regular basis one of the main issues. You have walk through these tunnels to get to your aircraft I would class them as bus shelters put together . In winter it’s absolutely freezing I think it’s about time to get them removed. One of the main problems is the local people objected to a new terminal that the airport wanted to build. This building was going to replace existing building and be a lot greener for the environment . My opinion you have to move with the times if not you get left behind.

    RAF Yeadon to most of us, home to the WWII camouflaged Avro factory c/w fibre glass cows on the top.
    When they extended the runway 1983/84, they moved the old Roman 'Stoop stone' because it was right in the way of the runway, only been there 2,000 years!
    In the 1950s they had an RAF training school for Leeds University Air Squadron. there were times that the odd chipmunk ended up in Yeadon Tarn when they misjudged their landings!

    I have flown from this airport in the region of 30 times over the past 25 years. It isn't the easiest place to get to being several miles from the nearest motorway/dual carriageway system. However when you do get there the Sentinel car par park is without doubt the best airport car park. Ive flown with KLM, Ryanair, BA and Jet2 from here and whilst never encountered any significant problems the Jet2 welcome/check in is fabulous. So friendly and efficient. The duty free and restaurant/cafe/shops are all pretty standard as they are operated by the same company in most UK airports. The actual process of getting from the terminal building to the aircraft certainly needs a radical overhaul {I am aware other commenters have mentioned this and I was not aware there had been objections from locals to the planning application}. I cannot recall ever having a delayed flight from here, my flights with KLM and BA were to their hubs at Schipol and Heathrow so that is very important. I much prefer going from here than Manchester or East Midlands which are my logical alternatives

  • @napoleoninrags3050
    @napoleoninrags3050 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    My two main gripes with this airport are, you have to walk out to the aircraft which means that if there is heavy rain you arrive on the aircraft very wet.
    Secondly, most airports that I've been to, you simply walk out of arrivals and there is a taxi rank or bus stop therefore no problems. Owing to the excessive parking and pickup/set down fees this doesn't happen at Leeds. You have to order a taxi and wait, and again there is no proper shelter to wait under so you end up wet again.

    • @beantravelling
      @beantravelling  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's just an old airport. It needs a complete overhaul but yes the taxi thing is a problem. At least you can get the bus from outside to Leeds and I believe Harrogate, although I just saw the Leeds bus when there. That goes up to the main door

    • @napoleoninrags3050
      @napoleoninrags3050 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@beantravelling Yes you are quite right in what you say, but they could at least make the problem that they themselves have created with taxis, more palatable with a decent shelter for people who need to wait for them. There is a particular taxi service with a base on the airport, but they charge considerably more than anyone else so are worth avoiding.

    Worse Airport for what? This is RAF Yeadon and the highest airfield in the UK. Its runway is legendary for the ‘hump’ designed to get heavy bombers off the ground by giving more lift. It’s actually one of the best airports, in many respects. I’ve had and seen a couple of “go round” incidents due to the cushion of wind over the hump (there’s a proper name for it but I don’t know what it is). This stops the plane from dropping and as hard as the flight deck try it just won’t go down so a “go round” is a regular occurrence. Nothing to be frightened of!
