Let me explain the “Mu” in Muichiro. First things first, we Japanese write it “無” in Chinese characters, and it means no, nothing, or naught in Japanese. In this episode Yuichiro said “The ‘Mu’ in Muichiro stands for ‘incompetence’ and ‘meaningless’” he also said “the ‘Mu’ in Muichiro stands for ‘Infinity’” at last. In Japanese, each of them are written for"無能-Munou" "無意味-Muimi" and "無限-Mugen" Let’s change the word to make it easier to understand. “Incompetence” to “No talent” “Meaningless“ to “No meaning” “Infinity” to “No limit” You can see the word “No” in all of them, but it still means negative in first two and positive in another. It is same in Japanese too. Same word in opposite meaning. It’s literally playing on words. Muichiro's mark is shaped like a cloud, representing mist breathing (so cool). I think the mark comes out when you're going beyond your limits: Tanjiro slashing Gyutaro, Tanjiro against hand demon and now Muichiro feeling numb from the poison.

Muichiro is gifted also because like what stated in this episode he's a descendant of the First Breathing user. And yes the guy on the right is correct. The Sun Breathing is the first and the rest of the breathings are just branches of it. Wind Breathing is derived directly from the Sun Breathing while the Mist Breathing was derived from the Wind Breathing. As for the demon slayer mark there is indeed a trigger and you'll find out in the next season.
He's not TECHNICALLY a descendant of the First Breathing User. The description in the anime is that he's a descendant of the family. In the first few episodes of the anime, it was explained that both Yoriichi was the first breathing user and that he had no heirs himself.

To clarify, the part u guys talk about, why is Tanjiro had the mark already, quick recap in season 2, when Father of Rengoku explain to Tanjiro, remember Tanjiro explains he got it from saving his brother from boiling water, leading him having a faint mark on his forehead. When it comes to relations of decendends, Quick recap of first episode of this season, the kamado family knew Yoriichi from the beginning and Yoriichi gave his earings and each fighting Forms of Sun, instead of directly follow the Forms, Instead replicate it as a Dance to make it easier therefore it became a Family Tradition. (Again, Yoriichi is NOT blood related to the Kamado Families)
P.S. Taniiro also mentioned before he went ape on Daki the based off of rengokus fathers note saying that all users of the sun breathing are born with a faint red mark on their head, but tanjiro said though his dad was born with one, tanjiro got it initially from an accident from saving his sibling the big ass boiling pot of water fell on him, then he mentioned during final selection his mark started looking like it did after, and it has been evolving since. what an episode brother, I was speechless. I have waited for this episode for months, I cried in the manga and cried again, 10 out of 10 beautiful episode.
Not only does the Manga explain power scaling alot better, there is also 2 Official fanbooks and official mangq novels that go into even further detail and backstory of characters and demons.

Not gonna lie, just my opinion but this is one of the most boring arc in all of demon slayer. This whole arc was kinda weak because muichiro kind of backstory was done thousands of times in this anime and gonna be done even more down the line of demon slayer fighting upper moons. And the fight scenes in chapter is good but bad compared to the rest of the manga. Especially the entertainment district and the upcoming infinity castle. So like I’m not all that hype for this. Muichiro will be done a lot better against koku so I’m hype for that. And tell me they didn’t make upper 5 and 4 look so weak compare to daki and guat. Like I get it muichiro had demon mark awaken and he’s one of the strongest pillars but how tf did tanijro went from not being able to do shit against upper 6 like he literally couldn’t do shit and only did something because he was at the side lines looking for exposure. To being able to technically fight upper 4 and his gang like??? Tf did tanijro eat?
@@stevenchen9852 bro tanjiro couldn’t even pull off like 3 hinokami attacks when fighting upper 6 and now with training (mitsuri said that fight gave him years worth of training) and the red sword (that ran out but still was there for a decent amount of time) he was able to make the fight look a lot easier since he can actually pull his weight
@@stevenchen9852 I mean, let's not forget Tanjiro went through a really hard training only a very few had have the chance of, for like an antire week without any break and literally almost dying from it, in between of his fight with Gyutaro and with upper 4. There was a reason for the start to be slow with all the training scenes of Tanjirou. Also, in his fight with Gyutaro he just got the mark at the very end to cut his head, here he already got it, he also has the red flaming sword which is huge, he also has Genya to cover his ass since he can be in front of an attack that would kill Tanjiro bc he has regeneration, he has Nezuko in her best form when past arc she was more of a problem with it and had Tanjiro needing to be over her so she wouldn´t eat anyone and in his fight with Gyutaro he just had Tengen bc Zenitsu and Inosuke were against Daki. Like, my point is that while this anime has plot armor and inconsistences, there's tons of reasons that were showed to us that Tanjiro is stronger and has way more things that help him, so I don't think it is as easy as to say that since he wasn't able to do much against Gyutaro he shouldn't be able to face upper four at this level

This was my favorite episode of the season thus far. Seeing Muichiro’s tragic backstory made me cry and seeing him using Mist Breathing with that amazing Ufotable animation made me hyped. Muichiro is definitely my favorite character too.

Tanjiro doesn't have the mark permanently. His mark activates according to the situation, it's his scar that stays on his forehead which is very similar to the mark. I imagine the mark is a show of more power being exerted but I might be wrong. It seems like it activates during life-and-death situations as like a last resort. I might be wrong though.
I think you might be right the Mark activates when a Slayer is in the life and death situation as a Last resort since both Tanjiro and Muichiro activates it when they almost died
Spoilers It actually is a power/speed boost, not a small one, it’s a pretty big boost . Mui went from being bodied and trapped in a water vase by a gyokko who wasn’t even trying to being able to take on gyokko’s attacks and land hits on him. Also doesn’t need to be a life or death situation, but a heart rate of over 200 beats per min & body temp of over 39 degrees Celsius, & as well having been in contact with someone who possesses the mark (tanjiro)
It's true that Tanjiro doesn't have the mark permanently, which we first saw after Upper 6. It's kind of weird how many times it has fluctuated from the mark back to his scar after the episode with Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance. Either way, the difference between the mark on Tanjiro and the mark Muichiro just unlocked is that Tanjiro's scar is already like having part of the mark constantly due to it resembling the full mark.
Pretty sure the marks derives from life threatening situations. Like when Tanjiro was trying to cut Gyutarro's head off, He was in an all or nothing situation which lead to the mark to activate. Just a guess though.

Also, a little technical correction: Tanjirō's family were charcoal burners, not coal miners. Coal comes from the ground and is a sedimentary rock. Charcoal is made by heating up wood in a low oxygen environment to remove all of the water and stuff. You can see what it looks like in Tanjirō's dream, when he's thinking about how his life would have been like if his family hadn't had been killed. Anyway, keep up the great work! The "mark" that is on Tanjiro's forehead is a scar he got when he protected his brother from a pot that tipped over when they were very young and he got splashed with boiling liquid. The scar got worse when he was struck there during the final selection by the Hand Demon. It's just a regular scar, his special mark just happens to appear over it.
When you were talking about how muichiro and his brother never knew what a demon was until recently then a demon attack. I remembered the first demon slayer episode when the old man made tanjiro sleep in his house and told him about demons, then a demon(aka muzan) attack their house the same night

As of now, the mark on each demon slayer's face will appear when they are in rage mode. But don't worry, it will be explained later, probably if they include the short next arc in this season, of how the marks appear and what kind of feeling they feel when they rage and involuntarily appear their marks.
Idk if someone already said this, but Tanjiro said at a certain point that his mark wasn't from birth but that he was burned as a kid, he jumped to save a sibling or something. But you'll notice that when he fights the mark increases/becomes bigger. I haven't read the manga so this is my interpretation of anime. Hope I'm right

It's not a spoiler you guys were wrong,the mark doesn't come to a person who is descendant of first breathing the mark come when you use your 100% in fight or something triggers your memory the mark simply gives you immense strength and potential tanjiro got it twice so now he can defeat an upper moon 6 or 5 alone but not without his mark,every demon Slayer can get it if they use their full potential and the marks are different in style and colour based on which breathing you use
Tanjiro is not at that level yet. The mark activates a few abilities, grants some speed and insanely increases arm strength. At this point, Tanjiro hasn't unlocked any of the abilities. Later he can use the red blade on his own and the STW, but not now. His speed gained is something he learned from Zenitsu, explained in 2 episodes or so from now. The mark has no effect on swordsmanship skill. In Infinity Castle is when Tanjiro is finally recognized at Hashira level

hashiras of the Sengoku era (golden era of demon slayers) all had marking on face but caused health issues die before reaching the age of 25.However, Kokushibo managed to survive through accepting Muzan's offer to become a demon, living for roughly another four centuries after aging past 25(he just dont want to die and take his time to sharpen his skill)

Tanjiro’s visible “mark” was actually a scalded scar. He said it in the last season episode 6 after daki slashed all the buildings, and then tanjiro mentions it in his inside voice. And plz remember when Tanjiro slashed Gyutaro at the last episode of season 2, his mark appeared and connected to his scar so his scar got extended and became bigger
I think it's more like the Mark overlapped the scar, cause once it appears the scar is not noticeable.. Basically, the scar doesn't grow, the mark just appears
If you guys actually look at his marks, it actually doesn't look like the one Tanjiro has. Those marks represents what kinda breathing techniques they're using. So it's not something related to them both having a relation to the Sun Breathing (also, since you guys seems to forget about it, Tanjiro doesn't have a blood relation to Yoriichi, the first Sun Breathing user. It just so happens that Tanjiro' ancestor was taught the technique by Yoriichi and that breathing technique was passed down through the Kamado lineage in the form of the dance, Hinokami Kagura. So by this point in the show's timeline, no one else knows or use Sun Breathing besides Tanjiro. Maybe Muichiro could learn it, but who knows), so anyone with breathing technique has the ability to conjure those marks, each uniquely represents what breathing technique they use. Having conjured a breathing mark ain't all good and cool tho, but it's something for y'all to learn later.

Muichiro is really my favorite hashira, and I am so glad the anime gave him justice. The manga was already so sad but it still made me cry, they executed his backstory so greatly. You also got it completely right: Muichiro has the best potential in all characters of Demon Slayer. He's just 14, even younger than Tanjiro (same age as Nezuko) right now, a descendant of the Sun Breathing users, the youngest Hashira, and became a Hashira in the shortest amount of time (only in just 2 months of being a demon slayer). His talent is indeed innate. Now I am so excited for the upcoming episode, because if you still haven't liked him enough here, then you will definitely love him in the next. He's both babie and awesome at the same time!

As far as I can remember, Muichiro has three marks. Two in his cheeks and one in forehead, same position with tanjiro's mark in his forehead. But in anime, it only has two or maybe three but the one in forehead didn't showed.
Muichiros trauma happened when he was a child, like 10 years old. It's pretty commen knowledge that you forget traumatic events on purpose, so your brain is like protecting you. So I think Muichiros amnesia is because of his brain trying to protect him.
I think you forgot about tanjiro’s mark, tanjiro’s visible mark is just a scar he got from protecting his sibling from a hot pot and he got burned, and during the selection, he got injured there on the head and it turned like how it is now.
I hope people would stop talking about the marks, or tanjiro and muichiro’s connection. As a manga reader, when we were at that part we have our own theories and was never spoiled. Let them enjoy and wait for the anime to explain.
It's already shown before that Tanjiro can trigger his demon mark on command which also means that it also disappears. The reason why you think his mark is always showing is because his scar on his forehead looks like it and is in the same spot. Also to add on, Tanjiros family is not related to Yoriichi as we saw in a flash back that Tanjiro's great grandfather was friends with Yoriichi. Though they are related through the fact that Sun breathing was taught to Tanjiros family and that they have similar appearances. And about the marks, Tanjiro stated that he was able to awaken it when he was in a life-threatening situation, with a fast heart rate, and with a body temperature of over 39 degrees. Same thing definitely happened with Muichiro which is why he awakened his mark. So this doesn't confirm the fact that you can only get the mark if you're blood related with the first breathing user since Tanjiro also wasn't blood related. Also confirms that you can use the mark without sun breathing since Muichiro awakened it whilst performing Mist breathing. And im pretty sure Muichiro awakened his mark when he killed the demon in his past since he was in a life threatening situation and also since he practically had no strength after killing the demon.

To put it simply for now: Tanjiro's descendant simply met and knew the first breathing user as seen in the dream before but his family actually carrying the legacy in the form of dance until now. Muichiro is the close descendant to the first breathing user but as seen, they did not carry the legacy somehow. These were shown before but no more than this as it can be spoiler.
I wasn't ready for this episode, i didn't expect to cry because of tokito, i dont get those who say DS doesn't have a good writing when all i could think of tokito who got his strength whenever someone needed him, first his brother then kotetsu, just like what his father told before, that humans have strength when people need each other not when they need it for themselves.

Muichiro is gifted also because like what stated in this episode he's a descendant of the First Breathing user. And yes the guy on the right is correct. The Sun Breathing is the first and the rest of the breathings are just branches of it. Wind Breathing is derived directly from the Sun Breathing while the Mist Breathing was derived from the Wind Breathing. As for the demon slayer mark there is indeed a trigger and you'll find out in the next season.
He's not TECHNICALLY a descendant of the First Breathing User. The description in the anime is that he's a descendant of the family. In the first few episodes of the anime, it was explained that both Yoriichi was the first breathing user and that he had no heirs himself.

When it comes to relations of decendends, Quick recap of first episode of this season, the kamado family knew Yoriichi from the beginning and Yoriichi gave his earings and each fighting Forms of Sun, instead of directly follow the Forms, Instead replicate it as a Dance to make it easier therefore it became a Family Tradition. (Again, Yoriichi is NOT blood related to the Kamado Families)

I think Muichiro's amnesia was a mixture of his injuries from the Demon attack getting infected and trauma from losing his Brother.
P.S. Taniiro also mentioned before he went ape on Daki the based off of rengokus fathers note saying that all users of the sun breathing are born with a faint red mark on their head, but tanjiro said though his dad was born with one, tanjiro got it initially from an accident from saving his sibling the big ass boiling pot of water fell on him, then he mentioned during final selection his mark started looking like it did after, and it has been evolving since. Not gonna lie, just my opinion but this is one of the most boring arc in all of demon slayer. This whole arc was kinda weak because muichiro kind of backstory was done thousands of times in this anime and gonna be done even more down the line of demon slayer fighting upper moons. And the fight scenes in chapter is good but bad compared to the rest of the manga. Especially the entertainment district and the upcoming infinity castle. So like I’m not all that hype for this. Muichiro will be done a lot better against koku so I’m hype for that. And tell me they didn’t make upper 5 and 4 look so weak compare to daki and guat. Like I get it muichiro had demon mark awaken and he’s one of the strongest pillars but how tf did tanijro went from not being able to do shit against upper 6 like he literally couldn’t do shit and only did something because he was at the side lines looking for exposure. To being able to technically fight upper 4 and his gang like??? Tf did tanijro eat?

@@stevenchen9852 I mean, let's not forget Tanjiro went through a really hard training only a very few had have the chance of, for like an antire week without any break and literally almost dying from it, in between of his fight with Gyutaro and with upper 4. There was a reason for the start to be slow with all the training scenes of Tanjirou. Also, in his fight with Gyutaro he just got the mark at the very end to cut his head, here he already got it, he also has the red flaming sword which is huge, he also has Genya to cover his ass since he can be in front of an attack that would kill Tanjiro bc he has regeneration, he has Nezuko in her best form when past arc she was more of a problem with it and had Tanjiro needing to be over her so she wouldn´t eat anyone and in his fight with Gyutaro he just had Tengen bc Zenitsu and Inosuke were against Daki. Like, my point is that while this anime has plot armor and inconsistences, there's tons of reasons that were showed to us that Tanjiro is stronger and has way more things that help him, so I don't think it is as easy as to say that since he wasn't able to do much against Gyutaro he shouldn't be able to face upper four at this level

This was my favorite episode of the season thus far. Seeing Muichiro’s tragic backstory made me cry and seeing him using Mist Breathing with that amazing Ufotable animation made me hyped. Muichiro is definitely my favorite character too.

Tanjiro doesn't have the mark permanently. His mark activates according to the situation, it's his scar that stays on his forehead which is very similar to the mark. I imagine the mark is a show of more power being exerted but I might be wrong. It seems like it activates during life-and-death situations as like a last resort. I might be wrong though.
I think you might be right the Mark activates when a Slayer is in the life and death situation as a Last resort since both Tanjiro and Muichiro activates it when they almost died

It actually is a power/speed boost, not a small one, it’s a pretty big boost . Mui went from being bodied and trapped in a water vase by a gyokko who wasn’t even trying to being able to take on gyokko’s attacks and land hits on him. Also doesn’t need to be a life or death situation, but a heart rate of over 200 beats per min & body temp of over 39 degrees Celsius, & as well having been in contact with someone who possesses the mark (tanjiro)
It's true that Tanjiro doesn't have the mark permanently, which we first saw after Upper 6. It's kind of weird how many times it has fluctuated from the mark back to his scar after the episode with Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance. Either way, the difference between the mark on Tanjiro and the mark Muichiro just unlocked is that Tanjiro's scar is already like having part of the mark constantly due to it resembling the full mark.

Also, a little technical correction: Tanjirō's family were charcoal burners, not coal miners. Coal comes from the ground and is a sedimentary rock. Charcoal is made by heating up wood in a low oxygen environment to remove all of the water and stuff. You can see what it looks like in Tanjirō's dream, when he's thinking about how his life would have been like if his family hadn't had been killed.

Tanjiro is not a descendant of yoriichi as explained in the s3 EP 1. The original user of sun breathing technique (yoriichi) was a family friend.

The "mark" that is on Tanjiro's forehead is a scar he got when he protected his brother from a pot that tipped over when they were very young and he got splashed with boiling liquid. The scar got worse when he was struck there during the final selection by the Hand Demon. It's just a regular scar, his special mark just happens to appear over it.

Idk if someone already said this, but Tanjiro said at a certain point that his mark wasn't from birth but that he was burned as a kid, he jumped to save a sibling or something. But you'll notice that when he fights the mark increases/becomes bigger. I haven't read the manga so this is my interpretation of anime. Hope I'm right

It's not a spoiler you guys were wrong,the mark doesn't come to a person who is descendant of first breathing the mark come when you use your 100% in fight or something triggers your memory the mark simply gives you immense strength and potential tanjiro got it twice so now he can defeat an upper moon 6 or 5 alone but not without his mark,every demon Slayer can get it if they use their full potential and the marks are different in style and colour based on which breathing you use
Tanjiro is not at that level yet. The mark activates a few abilities, grants some speed and insanely increases arm strength. At this point, Tanjiro hasn't unlocked any of the abilities. Later he can use the red blade on his own and the STW, but not now. His speed gained is something he learned from Zenitsu, explained in 2 episodes or so from now. The mark has no effect on swordsmanship skill. In Infinity Castle is when Tanjiro is finally recognized at Hashira level

hashiras of the Sengoku era (golden era of demon slayers) all had marking on face but caused health issues die before reaching the age of 25.However, Kokushibo managed to survive through accepting Muzan's offer to become a demon, living for roughly another four centuries after aging past 25(he just dont want to die and take his time to sharpen his skill)

Tanjiro’s visible “mark” was actually a scalded scar. He said it in the last season episode 6 after daki slashed all the buildings, and then tanjiro mentions it in his inside voice. And plz remember when Tanjiro slashed Gyutaro at the last episode of season 2, his mark appeared and connected to his scar so his scar got extended and became bigger
I think it's more like the Mark overlapped the scar, cause once it appears the scar is not noticeable..

If you guys actually look at his marks, it actually doesn't look like the one Tanjiro has. Those marks represents what kinda breathing techniques they're using. So it's not something related to them both having a relation to the Sun Breathing (also, since you guys seems to forget about it, Tanjiro doesn't have a blood relation to Yoriichi, the first Sun Breathing user. It just so happens that Tanjiro' ancestor was taught the technique by Yoriichi and that breathing technique was passed down through the Kamado lineage in the form of the dance, Hinokami Kagura. So by this point in the show's timeline, no one else knows or use Sun Breathing besides Tanjiro. Maybe Muichiro could learn it, but who knows), so anyone with breathing technique has the ability to conjure those marks, each uniquely represents what breathing technique they use. Having conjured a breathing mark ain't all good and cool tho, but it's something for y'all to learn later.

Michiro is written 無一郎and Yuichiro is written 有一郎in Jpanese.The meaning of 無(mu) is like void,nothing and so on.And 有(yu) is like having existence possession and so on. These two words are antonyms in japanese. In Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the "mu" in Muichiro refers to infinity or limitless.

Muichiro is really my favorite hashira, and I am so glad the anime gave him justice. The manga was already so sad but it still made me cry, they executed his backstory so greatly. You also got it completely right: Muichiro has the best potential in all characters of Demon Slayer. He's just 14, even younger than Tanjiro (same age as Nezuko) right now, a descendant of the Sun Breathing users, the youngest Hashira, and became a Hashira in the shortest amount of time (only in just 2 months of being a demon slayer). His talent is indeed innate.
Now I am so excited for the upcoming episode, because if you still haven't liked him enough here, then you will definitely love him in the next. He's both babie and awesome at the same time!
Muichiro's "Mu" is "無" in Japanese which means none, no, or nothing. On the other hand, his twin Yuichiro's "Yu" is "有" in Japanese which has the opposite meaning of "Mu": having, existing, sth like that.
This is interesting bc when Yuichiro said Muichiro's Mu stands for infinity(無限Mu-gen, no limit) it also indicates how Yuichiro's Yu stands for having limits or being limited(有限Yu-gen).
Yuichiro was definitely limited with his capability to control his emotions and behaviors, as well as protecting the people he loved.
Contrasting to that, this is a message that Muichiro won't be limited in what his brother struggled with.

As far as I can remember, Muichiro has three marks. Two in his cheeks and one in forehead, same position with tanjiro's mark in his forehead. But in anime, it only has two or maybe three but the one in forehead didn't showed.

Muichiros trauma happened when he was a child, like 10 years old. It's pretty commen knowledge that you forget traumatic events on purpose, so your brain is like protecting you. So I think Muichiros amnesia is because of his brain trying to protect him.
I think you forgot about tanjiro’s mark, tanjiro’s visible mark is just a scar he got from protecting his sibling from a hot pot and he got burned, and during the selection, he got injured there on the head and it turned like how it is now.

It's already shown before that Tanjiro can trigger his demon mark on command which also means that it also disappears. The reason why you think his mark is always showing is because his scar on his forehead looks like it and is in the same spot. Also to add on, Tanjiros family is not related to Yoriichi as we saw in a flash back that Tanjiro's great grandfather was friends with Yoriichi. Though they are related through the fact that Sun breathing was taught to Tanjiros family and that they have similar appearances. And about the marks, Tanjiro stated that he was able to awaken it when he was in a life-threatening situation, with a fast heart rate, and with a body temperature of over 39 degrees. Same thing definitely happened with Muichiro which is why he awakened his mark. So this doesn't confirm the fact that you can only get the mark if you're blood related with the first breathing user since Tanjiro also wasn't blood related. Also confirms that you can use the mark without sun breathing since Muichiro awakened it whilst performing Mist breathing.
And im pretty sure Muichiro awakened his mark when he killed the demon in his past since he was in a life threatening situation and also since he practically had no strength after killing the demon.

Muichiro is the close descendant to the first breathing user but as seen, they did not carry the legacy somehow. These were shown before but no more than this as it can be spoiler.
I wasn't ready for this episode, i didn't expect to cry because of tokito, i dont get those who say DS doesn't have a good writing when all i could think of tokito who got his strength whenever someone needed him, first his brother then kotetsu, just like what his father told before, that humans have strength when people need each other not when they need it for themselves.
