    Wow, five volunteers within the first hour! Thanks everybody. The first five are: Jammy, Ted, Edward, Daryl and Michael. I'll get the skins in the mail to you shortly.
    Also- if anyone else already has a ringneck pheasant skin and wants to be participate, let me know. The series can be as big as we want it.

    Hi from Rolla Missouri 🎣🤠 Dave Hughes. I bought a couple of acres with a house 🏡 in the forest. Places to fish 🐟 in any direction only ten minutes away. I bought the book you talked about and liked it so much I got a second one for my fly tying friend. Thanks for your time for all of your videos. The new old house has a walk-out basement with large windows and sliding doors, great place to flytye with the roll top desk. The house back's up to the Forest with lots of turkey and game,even some pleated woodpeckers. This'll be great 👍🎣🤠. Good luck and health to you and your's Dave Hughes

    I can see this is going to be an outstanding series. Amazing how great of a fly you can tie with minimal materials. This one is pretty classy looking. Very nice job of tying Matt. Thank you.

    Thanks for this link Matt, it came from the Brook Trude video. It seems all -or most- roads lead to Fly Tyer. They had an excellent piece on the ring neck pheasant feathers, maybe by Eric Austin or Rick Takahashi, can't recall. Lots of patterns of all types using all the feathers of that bird. Your PNAP Nymph is awesome! The feather for the tail I like as a sub for GP tippets. The technique you used for the legs I use a lot, the DeFeo style for throat hackle and legs imho. I'll have to catch up on this series. Thanks buddy, as always, your videos inspire me for further research and tying. 🤓👍

    Good one Matt.Great for an AP, just change body color.The late great Jack Gartside was a proponent of pheasant body featgers in many flies.Next should be the versatility of golden pheasant.

    • @SavageFlies
      @SavageFlies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael- excellent comment, and you are 100% correct on the versatility with some color changes. And I just recently learned about Jack Gartside and how he actually used some of the rump feathers for body materials. And oh yeah, I also ordered some golden pheasant skins for the next series!

    Great looking nymph Matt. My go-to Sulphur looks like a general purpose nymph and I believe that the combination of materials make it successful. Feathers from 3 different birds (wood duck tail, dark turkey tail for the wing case, brown speckled hen legs) but I bet I could find 3 Ringneck feathers to substitute. At least I’ll have the same material and color for the body which I think is important. I’ve been looking for a different tail anyway because the wood duck is delicate. I bet I have a dozen Sulphur nymphs in my box that are tail-less! I know some folks like Coq de Leon for barred tails but I keep forgetting to buy some. What do you think, CDL too stiff?

    • @SavageFlies
      @SavageFlies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daryl- these sulphurs sound cool. I haven't used CDL much, but did order some in a couple different colors recently. It might be a bit stiff for nymph tails, but maybe not for some nymphs. I'll let you know what I think after trying this next batch!

    • @SavageFlies
      @SavageFlies  4 ปีที่แล้ว
