The detailed commentary as you’re working each step is amazing and it does help the process to make sense. What a joy to watch you work. You are truly inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing your time and talent with us.
Just found this video (and the first one) and really enjoyed learning how to do the curved spine and attaching the signatures. Very helpful, thankyouj!
Hi Maggie, you’re welcome 😊. I’m not sure if the videos have answered your questions, if not, then please ask away 😁 Oh and yes the paint does add some stiffness to the fabric but not much ☺️
Your methods for making that signature is excellent. I will be using this myself for the rounded spine journal I am making. I also like the idea of using smaller signatures and more of them. This is a beautiful journal, I love all the lace. Excellent video.
Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone!!! I'm 'brand new' to this, and I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm gathering all my supplies to start my first book this week!
I watch a few of your videos every day trying to understand everything I am doing! Love your teaching. May I add that "sewing cheese cloth" is different than baking/kitchen cheese cloth. Love ya, Zoe!
Thank you so much for showing us the whole process! I have spent hours looking for videos showing the start to finish process! Your work is so beautiful too! Brenda Moffett
would just like to say that i thoroughly enjoy your tutorials, you are so generous to impart your knowledge as you do. I have never found you boring in the least, quite the opposite. You explain processes so well. What I would like to ask is, when you are attaching charms or ribbons etc to the spine how do you anchor them inside the spine. Once again many thanks for your brilliant tutorials
Hi Gail, thank you 😊. As for the charms, on a flat spine I usually punch a hole, place an eyelet and then thread through some thin ribbon and attach to the inside of the spine. I’ve also seen lots that use Tim Holtz ‘ring fasteners ‘ although I’m not sure how they are attached 🤔
Zoe... Thanks for all your help! I learned so much from you not only how but why! You explain very well and I am excited to try the rounded spine! I find that the cloth covered books are so beautiful ...I hope to make as many as I have time and see them sitting on a shelf!!...If I ever need a gift for someone I could have a journal ready to give. Until then, they could decorate a room! I'm a dreamer right? I am hoping the more I make the better I will get at it and I get a system down at making them. Again, A Big Thank You from Nancy in Michigan, USA, ....Looking forward as always to all your videos!
Hi Nancy, I have the type of brain that’s demands an explanation for why I have to do something 😬. So.......if I’m interested in something, I buy a shelf full of books to find out everything I can (much to my husbands despair 😊) and I just assume everyone is the same......... As for dreaming, life would be pretty boring if we didn’t 😁
Zoe thank you for your inspiring and helpful videos. I do have a question: Can I do the floating spine as a flat spine and if so any advise? LOl I am going to attempt my first floating spine and it's scary!! You, your skill and knowledge, are indeed very much appreciated.
Thanks so much for sharing how you do this! One question, what was the purpose of the temporary spine that was taped in and then later pulled out? I'm sure I'm missing something here but I've watched it 2x and can't figure it out!
Hi Rebecca, I used the template (scored down the middle) inside the spine to give me a guide as to where the centre was so I could get the signatures equal 😁
Hi Laurie, oops, try turning it into a feature by using an edge punch if you have one. You could always cover it with lace or matching paper and make it into a pocket.
Thank you Zoe!!! I think the edge punch is a wonderful idea!!! I am new at this and this is only my 3rd journal. And this was a major mistake. I am learning!! Thank you again!!!
hi Shirley, I use double sided tape to attach the signature to begin with. I find this holds it in place until, I glue the rest down properly. if this isn’t what you meant, I’ll try and give a different answer 😊
So each spine I'm going to sew the spine that is the papers together then in the book so sewing two times first all the pages in each spine then more thread second time go through through the holes in the book so I'm going to if I screw up is there a way of getting out of it?
no problem, you sew the signature directly onto the fabric that goes inside the spine (for a hidden binding). I use a template with the hole positions marked onto it to make the holes in the signature and also the fabric. this way I’m guaranteed to get the holes in the right place!
I just started and oh boy do some look shabby! I really love it for expressing myself. Thanks for the tricks! I am USA. Keeps my mind off of our jackass president
thank you for this great tutorial. You made my first rounded spine a snap. many thanks, Robin

Hi Zoe, I'm new to your channel and loved he 2 videos on making the curve spin journal! Do you sell your journals in your Etsy Store?
Hi Shannon, thank you 😊. Due to the costs of selling on Etsy, I only sell my journals through my website now 😕
What is your web site, please?
How do you make the raised embossed cover?
Hi Jill, here’s a link to the tutorial that shows my version

Oh Zoe, I made a mistake. I put my inside cover papers on, before the signatures. What should I do now??
Hi Laurie, oops, try turning it into a feature by using an edge punch if you have one. You could always cover it with lace or matching paper and make it into a pocket.
Thank you Zoe!!! I think the edge punch is a wonderful idea!!! I am new at this and this is only my 3rd journal. And this was a major mistake. I am learning!! Thank you again!!!
What I say is you're using double-sided tape after you've glued all your spine's together is that right
hi Shirley, I use double sided tape to attach the signature to begin with. I find this holds it in place until, I glue the rest down properly.
if this isn’t what you meant, I’ll try and give a different answer 😊

I'm sorry it's just hard for me to understand this sorry to bother you so much I really want to get this book it's just finishing it off and

Hi Katie, journaling can be very absorbing 😁
