@@JCurry1123AI researcher here, training with a "human in the loop" is a very legit and well established machine learning technique, this gets a seal of approval from me!

Modern AI learns from searching the internet as well. Basically how chatgpt works. But raw machine learning is different but going forward we will see a hybrid of both being used.
Fun fact, the TAS for 1-1 is optimized to the point where it cannot get any faster by even a single frame, which sucks because theres a frame rule tha lets you enter screen transition every 22 frames, and if the TAS could shave even a single frame, it can enter the next level 21 frames sooner and be faster in the full run.

And what sucks even more is that h the e one frame could have been saved from the timer going down when you touch the flag and the level ends. Mario touches the flag the moment the timer is supposed to count down but it doesn’t for some reason

This is 1 of those speedruns that has been analysed to the point of frame-perfect runs. You might match the wr, but you'll never beat it

Ludwig is the type of guy to make everything a competition
Isn't it always like this though? Its fairly straight forward in many skills to get to 50% in 3 months, 80% within a year, 95% within a couple. Its that 5% though, (and later that 0.1%) that will take you years to decades to master.

this is an interesting thought, this really shows that the real life learning process is vastly different to how we teach AI's to do things and we instead thrive off some repetition but mostly structure, i saw a talk on the usage of topos in machine learning and this really makes it seem like the obvious route
