Lyrics:
Give it 2 you
1 for da money
2 for da bass
3 to get ya goin'
Cause da brat in da place
It's me, da o.g. funk bandit (whose dat? )
Da b-2 da -r-a-t and in fact
If you ain't heard of me
Take a seat, lay back and listen
As I bust 4 yo ass on dis funkdafied mission
(just kick off your shoes and relax your feet
Party on down wit da brat and her beat)
Now it goes like dis and dat how it goes
I'ma give it to all you negroes and hoes
So listen up, make sure you listen up well
And don't miss shit 'cause this bitch be bad as hell
(true of matter is I splatta it) talk shit
And in a gangta's way dat's how dem fool's get dealt wit
So want you wanna do bitch, don't even trip
(step up, step up) and i'ma bust yo lip
'cause I know dat you know dat I know you don't want me 2
But keep on trippin and i'ma give it 2 you
Like if you're playing this in 2024 🎉

Back when EVERYBODY in Hip Hop could fucking DRESS!!
You livin in the past, OG
+Henny Lopez Well they had a lot of "Tom Boy" groups like Total, TLC, XScale, Lady of Rage and The Brat etc.
Macmittens411 Again awful look. Thank goodness Kim came along and had women dressing like women again. Hard to beat my meat to a woman who's pants are baggier than mines and sag lower.
+Henny Lopez Wrong! Women didn't dress like that all the time, I was 16 years old in 1995 & women use to switch it up. One day I would something girly & the next day I may wear something baggy. Da Brat & TLC had their own style but women in the 90s didn't dress like that all the time.
wanna3737 Yes they did, I was 15 and 16 in 95 also. I don;t mean in general everyday life. I'm talking ladies in Hip Hop. Salt n peppa switched it up. Other than that every lady in Hip Hop pretty much dressed like this. Until Kim then Foxxy came and changed it for all ladies in Hip Hop.

The 90's. You don't realize what you're missing until it's GONE.
Niners4Lyphe Right!
i really appreciate it now looking back....last great era
Niners4Lyphe
You ain't EVA lie!
The 90's was never just the music man...it was a certain tangible feeling, an attitude, a certain X-factor you just can't replicate or get back. If you didn't live through it and feel it, no one can explain it to you BUT this music is the closest thing you can get to it. For less than 5mins, that damn feeling comes right back and you feel like you are in a freakin' time machine.
Cardi & nim would get annihilated by these OG female REAL rappers!!
REAL TALK!!!💯💯💯🗣🗣🗣
Facts
You never lied
For real the things they rap about today floors me.
I wish I was a little older in the 90s they had real fun. No cell phones, social media just straight kicking it. Damn
We had payphones and pagers, lol, and call waiting. Yes, I miss those days. . .
yeah, you got that right, kids today have NO idea.. people enjoyed shhit back then, now they do to events just fo a photo op.. to post for people that don't give a F that you there
Yeah I was just a kid in the 90s I remember the pay phone in pager big phone too no Facebook no social media we go outside we kick it...
@@jamw8022 Exactly. Not being "present" and in the moment, more worried about the photo ops. I got caught up in that when I first got my cell phone but it got old real quick for me.
@ I love that you acknowledged that :) :) :) it seems so crazy to me when people do a personal challenge to put their phone down for a month, I mean.. that is GREAT to do that (I'm not in any means putting anyone down for challenging themselves like that) but I guess it's really just that I find it sad that it's so hard for people to do :(
The sound of this era is timeless. The fashion, the music, the hairstyles. 90 era is brillant

My second best hip hop female artist ever number one is standing right next to her MC Lyte she's number one on my list for real y'all
She is dressed like Shino from Naruto. That jacket, sunglasses...She would have been great in an action film. I could picture that. Her in these costumes with an uzi.
And the sound is from the 70s. Most rap is samples and that's what became king 👍🏾
back when unity was the popular thing for videos. Cameos from Mary J, T-Boz, Puff, Biggie, etc.
Too Short as well
Bill Bellamy as valet
Keith Murray
Goodie Mobb
If I am not mistaken, I do believe I saw Chille and T. Boz, but no Left Eye. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Cameo appearances from Mc Lyte, Biggie Smalls, Kriss Kross, Khujo and T-Mo of Goodie Mob, Mary J. Blige, Jermaine Dupri, P. Diddy, T-Boz of TLC, Too Short, Bill Bellamy, Keith Murray. The 90's was everything.
don’t forget Bush Babees randomly being there 😂 glad they got some shine but it’s the most unexpected cameo out of all
Bill Bellamy say PAC was there behind the scenes. Crazy to kno him and Biggie was really hanging out before all that bs

@@BklynnLady 🤣. Wished everyday I was in that video. 🔥
Nope and the best we can hope for is that some new artists pop up that make music like this as a throwback 90s sounding band. The world however is on that crazy pop sound they play everywhere now. So sadly we might be stuck going back to groups like this just to feel like we are back in the time when the song was new and fresh .

word up heyyyy word up heyyyy ✌ ☝ old school music is so laid back u always come back
One of the best songs ever made, period. Just a masterpiece of music and production....so flawless on so many levels. You don't encounter work like that much today! Plus the video looks so spontaneous as if they all just drifted together by chance and THAT happened. This is one of the songs you'd hear at a club and know in a few seconds the dance floor would be packed with so many other people just loving it.
We see this today yet for so many decades black talent wasn't recognized and was so suppressed. All that time we didn't see much talent because of that cowardliness in production where they were afraid to be the first producer to back black talent. Bit by bit fences were taken down and people emerged to show the world what they could offer. When that happened the people that mainly controlled things got worried as in many areas the black talent completely overwhelmed the white talent and that made them uncomfortable. So suppression seemed to gain strength as white producers were deemed to be rejecting their own kind by producing black talent instead of realizing they were simply offering talent to the world irregardless of race.
Its not fully there yet but its a whole lot better than before.
We all need to recognize talent from wherever it comes from. That's always the best way to get things done. Just like they got things done in this song and video.
No doubt my fav brat song of her career. Like this better than funkdafied and f all yall
