Still rocking this card in 2021 (now water-cooled) despite the lack of raytracing and DLSS. No regrets.
same bro i was going to get a 3070 but ended up getting this bad boy for $300. no regrets at all.
@@typpo6520 3070 is only a 14% upgrade so isn’t worth it. I’ve owned 3060ti,3070 and a 3080 not worth the extra 20-30fps on 1440p. Just got a 1080ti for 700$ and kept an extra 1400$ in my pocket
@@typpo6520 I building a new rig in 2022 and got one for like $300 as well. Got the Asus ROG 1080ti OC 11GB version. Still a bad boy of a card.

I got my MSI GTX 1080 GAMING X for $400, i5 6500 for $150, ASRock H110M-ITX/ac $40, 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix 2400MHz $85, Crucial MX300 750GB $99, Fractal Node 304 $50, Corsair CXM 550W $50. Total including tax = $874.
If I consider that the 1080Ti will cost me $779+tax = $849.
Although I have to admit I got some insanely low prices on the parts. Black Friday and a lot of sniping for bargains through slickdeals and /r/buildapcsales. I also got a WD Red 4TB for $114, but did not include it there because it's technically an extra.
Bruno Yuji here in the uk even used 1080 are still going for around 430 440 and thats cheap new they're around 530 but pc parts are generally a lot more in the uk probably import tax or whatever
still runs today with a 13600kf. it still keeps up with a 3060. I can do without raytracing.
RT is overrated anyways.
I went from a 3070 to an rx 6800xt with a 13600k. Just bought a white ftw3 for my co worker, still a great card.

These cards are really durable. The metal shroud does a lot. I dropped a reference gtx1080 from desk height and it was fine.
Just picked up this card today. Beautiful as hell.

Man I want one, it would make an awesome piece of the first gaming pc in saving up for! Computers are the first thing in years that I've gotten back into with a passion since I've been sober. I run at stock settings because I want the card to last many years and not quit working after several months to get meaningless 6% performance improvement.

Ahh huh! The vaunted and infamous 1080ti. Time has shown us that it was the last GPU that you'll ever need.
Good thing with watching old videos is it makes me feel to have an ultra powerful graphics card. I mean 2080 versus 1080. Now that RTX 4090 is out, I badly needed this video.

Skrillz Playz ftw 1 is no longer produced ftw 2 has some problems with the vrm heat dissipation and ftw 3 is there to fix it.

Bought mine two days ago
I run 2 EVGA GTX970ftw 2.0+ side by side in SLI and have had 0 issues with overheating running anything on ultra. I get 140fps on average with 2 1080p monitors 1 running games the other with random web page up. I multibox EvE online 13 accounts open at once doesn't even give it a hiccup. I imagine that the 1080ti ftw 3.0 will be amazing. I'll be upgrading (mobo/cpu are reaching end of life i5-2500k, need more threads and pci-e lanes) soon and am contemplating swapping the 2 970s for a couple 1080ti's and this is encouraging.

Why does PEOPLE hate noise on a CARD like this ? Do you Drive a SILENT SPORTS CAR now ? Honestly I would rather hit 100% fan speed. And Make it sound SUPER FAST and POWERFUL ! Bonus part is you get the MAX SPEED of the Card ! 50c and above will SURELY make a SPIKE 43c below temp will remove that spikes and will get you the highest stable clock you can get.
lal alonsabe When this thing gets loud, it gets _loud_ . If you use speakers, this might not be a good card for you if you keep your PC near your work area. Even some noise-isolating headphones might have trouble.

What I also like: They cutted out the lighted EVGA Logo on the backplate and now lets you to swap it. It's now hold by 4 screws.

Sexy card. Jay, I'd love to see you start incorporating prices for these cards. For instance, how much more performance per dollar are you getting from card to card. This becomes a major factor in choosing. Many would love the fastest possible, but paying a $100 premium for Card A over Card B when it's only a smidge faster might not be worth it. Other than that, great video as always. Cheers man, off to see Guardians 2. :)
@JayzTwoCents - a suggestion for the graphs... they go by pretty quick, would it be possible in later videos to change the color of the bar of the card/chip on the graph so it would be easier to see the which card your looking for??? just my two cents, no pun intended xD

Still have one of these running daily, in my opinion it’s still one of the best cards to have in 2020
I finally upgraded my SC2 with a ftw3 3080. I can't wait, its gonna be here monday! The card still works perfectly fine though, I have a spare system with no gpu that has a 1st gen ryzen 1600x in it that I'm gonna use for VR. It'll be perfect for that, these are fantastic gpus and I wish they did another one with that skeletonized metal frame design. They look SO good.
Maybe I can finally play Minesweeper in a 4k surround setup
