There is a GDDR5X shortage and the 1080(ti) use that. The 1070 series and lower uses the still rather plentiful GDDR5. So personally I thing the 1070ti is kinda a stopgap to help ease demand on the 1080 series (and thus the GDDR5X) by offering a slightly lower and cheaper but still powerful GPU
its about binning the cpus used on the cards. theres a big difference between the 1080 and 1070 so if they got a card that was just under what they needed for a 1080 they had to market it as a 1070, so some 1070's were capable of huge overclocks. this fills that gap and gives them mopre money per card.
Because they can put out the 1070 TI and sell that to people who were not buying the 1080 but we're looking for something more powerful than a 1070 without disrupting the sales of the 1080.
NVIDIA: People are buying more 1070's than 1080's, how do we convince them to buy 1080s? Sales: Add a new card that's $50 in between both. Consumer: Hmm.. Yeah but this marketing scheme worked out well for late buyers. A new 1070ti is significantly less than a new 1080 at this point and of course since the 2k series flopped, it's going to keep looking better and better as no one originally wanted the 1070ti. You could always wait for the 2k cards to become stable but for my timing, this card made the most sense. Funny how that happens.
@@descripto2586 Literally what i came here to say. Just picked up a 1070ti for a wild price on sale, while 1080's and 1080ti's are hard to get a hold of now.
@@descripto2586 Me too. What this video didn't take into account was street pricing. As of now the 1070 ti almost invalidates the existence of both vanilla 1070 and 1080 since the price gap with the former is too little as is the performance gap with the latter.
working in a lab with liquid nitrogen and other cryogens, they all vent to make sure that they don't overpressure. the venting is nothing to worry about and you should expect to see / hear it !! @jayztwocents
Jay, just wanted to say thank you for your video format - you explain and demonstrate everything in a way that is easy to understand, even to the average consumer who doesn't really mess with overclocking. I enjoy your videos over other tech channels because you don't just shove graphs in our face and spit out facts and numbers. Please keep doing what you're doing, and keep including the footage where you mess up or something doesn't go right, it's much more entertaining than watching someone read from a script!
Consumer: "Nvidia why did you launch another 10 series product just to beat Vega 56 instead of just dropping prices?" Nvidia: "Because fuck you that's why." Consumer: "Ok cool. Here's all our money." Nvidia: "That's right bitches."
Let's be fair here. Nvidia beat them in support. I had an HD6970 and it ran hot, and there was barley any support for it. Crashes and other problems ALWAYS happened at launch(game launches). My GTX970 has been amazing. The driver support, the shadow play feature....they won me over with that alone(yes they have something similar now, too little too late). I can't afford it now, but eventually I will buy another one of their cards. I may pay more than I need to, but I know the support will be there. I always went AMD and there were games that took over a year to be playable. World at War had a crash in zombie mode. Took them 1.5 years to patch it and make it playable for me. But Nvidia? Just update my drivers before playing and I almost never have issues.
teamhex False claim... no articles / news / proofs. Nvidia always had the worst drivers, everything is documented in this video. th-cam.com/video/dE-YM_3YBm0/w-d-xo.html Not just drivers, "bumpgate" killed thousands (if not millions) of GPUs. You can find links proving what he says in the video description.
manilove2pwn How are they ripping off?? It's a 1070ti that beats a 1080 out of the box for less money. RX 56 performs the same as 64 but no one says AMD ripping people off lol.
It's a marketing bit. You now have a card that is a lot more affordable to the common user that rates pretty well. You have decent performance at a reasonable price range. In all honesty, I'll be purchasing one of these at the end of the money because of how it is priced.
Well if the O2 levels drop to around 10%, they are in for a world of hurt. If it drops to 6% or less... well lets just say no one wants that to happen :(
The LN tank is supposed to bleed-off like that, Jay. When the temp outside the tank causes the pressure inside the tank to rise, the pressure relief valve allows a small amount of gas to escape, in order to keep it safe...You do NOT want to STOP that from "leaking" because it's not really leaking...it's bleeding-off, so it doesn't explode, and kill you. This is common for many large gas canisters. So yeah, purging is good...
I know he mentioned it towards the end of the vid. He probably googled it or called a friend to ask about it & that part was edited out of the final video. I'm just stressing the importance of NOT fucking with pressure relief valves. It can't be said too often.
If it was that easy to mess up a pressure release valve, an engineer somewhere would have really fucked up lol. In all reality I wouldn't put it past Jay to just be doing this to screw with people who he knew would flip out about it in the comments.
It's very easy to "mess up" a PRV. From my experience in the oil/gas industry, I can tell you this; It can be as simple as someone just screwing a cap over a threaded valve, because they believe it's leaking, while unaware of its actual purpose (safety). I've personally seen some very scary things, and countless other close-calls, due to such behavior. A great example that most people can relate to: The pressure relief valve on your home's water-heater. Many people have seen the relief valve with a tiny drip, thinking that they better run down to the hardware store, and buy a cap to screw over it, so they can get a few more years out of the unit, only to have the thing explode like a bomb, when it overheats. All too often this causes serious casualties & even death. Bottom line: If you're not fairly well versed in the safety protocol of a given pressurized vessel, you really shouldn't be toying with it. Specifically in the case of a large LN2 tank, you really shouldn't even be able to obtain one, without at least a quick crash-course educating you as to its functionalities and fail-safes.
I also was super confused about the existence of the 1070 Ti. There wasn't really enough of a gap in performance from the 1070 and 1080 to justify a card being put out in between them.
durrik Just to confuse it more the 1070ti is cheaper and faster out of the box than a 1080. As for 3rd party the Asus Strix 1070ti is £100.00 cheaper than the Asus Strix 1080.
MayDay GoingDown!! The 1070 Ti is about the same price as what I sold my old 1080 for used. Out of box it appears the 1080 is still faster but if you OC the 1070 Ti, you can get it slightly higher than a stock 1080. I'm sure that soon enough, the 1080 prices will reflect based on how the 1070 Ti sells.
durrik Yeah you can overclock the 1070ti to be faster than an out of the box 1080 for sure. The Asus Strix 1070ti is £100.00 cheaper than the Asus Strix 1080.
In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first 'SUPER' computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5 MB of data
Also, the slow release of nitrogen from the tank is normal. It is not designed to withstand the pressure that would be required to keep the LN2 liquid at room temperature. Instead it keeps the LN2 at its liquid-state temperature by letting the liquid slowly boil inside and thus releasing any excess gas, the pressure inside the tank isn't that large. Think of it more as a vacuum flask than a pressure tank.
Or jay just isn't someone who is as dumb as you idiots to believe that container is enough to asphyxiate you with displacement of the oxygen in that sized room. The crack under a door is enough to keep that room more than breathable if it was leaking. Which it is bleeding out very very slowly. Definitely not leaking.
William corley it's compressed, at atmospheric pressure it has much more volume. And it doesn't matter if it's leaking slowly, overnight it may start leaking more, and as everything will be closed, it could be an issue.
yledoos, well, you win the award for stupidest question of the day, but I've got you covered with an answer: Its cold when you take it out of the box, room temperature, maybe just a couple of degrees below room temperature. But who gives a fuck what the out of the box temps are, most people are be more interested in its operating temperatures, both at idle and full load.
SkippyZKangaroo a new gpu that has an outrageous price at launch in 2017 OMG NO WAY because that didnt happen with all of the 100XX cards or the whole RX Line up. Ohh wait it did
Also, maybe the insignificant gap between the 1070 and 1080 is precisely why they released it. Considering that and the GPU pricing situation, it does actually make sense to offer a card to people who want the 1080 experience, without having to pay almost $600.
Another Great Video, Jay. I appreciate you breaking down the Rumors and Testing the OC on it. However, I think you should do a Full Review on the 1070 ti. Mainly because you missed the point on WHY this GPU exists. It's Clear that AMD's VEGA line of GPUs is cutting into NVIDIA's 1070 and 1080 Sales, so In a Flash, they made the 1070 Ti as a VEGA Killer. NVIDIA is desperate to remain the High-End GPU King, and they'll hold it by any means necessary. For Future Testing of the GTX 1070 Ti, I STRONGLY suggest Comparing it to BOTH RX VEGA 56 and RX VEGA 64 (DON'T forget to include OVERCLOCKING results). It's clear what NVIDIA wants from the 1070 Ti. The question the Consumer needs is "DID NVIDIA SUCCEED?" Great work as always, looking forward to the Liquid Nitrogen Video!
the tank is venting because the liquid is boiling, as it evaporates it extracts heat from its surrounding (the liquid), keeping it at its boiling temperature at a certain pressure.
That liquid nitrogen dewar is designed to vent excess pressure. They have spring loaded pressure relief valves and rupture discs to prevent them from exploding under pressure. Even though they are vacuum insulated, the LN2 slowly evaporates over time inside the vessel, typically about 1-2% per day. This is called the Normal Evaporation Rate or NER. The liquid-to-gas expansion ratio of liquid nitrogen is about 1:696. In other words, that 230 liter dewar contains roughly 160 cubic meters of nitrogen gas. If released all at once, you could risk asphyxiation from displacement of oxygen in the room. However, if there is good ventilation in the room and the dewar vents off slowly, then the risk is much less. In either case, oxygen monitors are always a good idea.
“Here we have a can of liquid nitrogen with a huge ass dent in it so it’s a little scary and I don’t think I should do that” Then proceeds to smack the tank for a solid 30 seconds 😂
@JayzTwoCents Don't worry about the Nitrogen tank bleeding off its supposed to, just make sure the pressure building valve is closed, The warmer it gets the more it will blow off.
As far as i know ,I don't think its vram is even like 1080 ...this one has only 8gb gddr5 as compared to 1080 which has 8gb gddr5x ...and ofcourse the x in the end sounds wayyy cooler...
Liquid Nitrogen tanks do that, the liquid is constantly boiling off and building pressure in the tank, we use to use those tanks to inert liquid solder where i used to work. You could adjust the "pressure builder knob" on the tank and it will adjust some ballast in the tank so as to build pressure slower, but most companies prefer that you don't touch it.
Back in March and April Newegg had brand new Gigabyte GTX1080 for $419.99 and $429.99 on ebay store they sold thousands of them if they can sell for that price and still make profit.
Jay: The LN2 is definetely meant to relieve pressure in that manner. in fact, sometimes the pressure relief valve can get a little stuck from the cold. and all the pressure will release quickly after a build up. 2 things will happen. 1) everything in the path of that relief valve will get flung across the room. 2) you suffocate if the room is too small. Source; PhD and several years next to one of those things.
many people have died from not knowing nitrogen was filling the room. it displaces oxygen almost perfectly. i would miss you guys if you just left us like that. buy a detector if you can.
Ryan Pruske holy shit I had to go WAY too far down the comments to see this... I'm genuinely worried for them. I'm sure if nothing happens we'll get a "see, it's fine..." But seriously anyone watching this needs to know this is DANGEROUS. Lab rained professionals have died from those exact canisters leaving in bigger rooms than that!
it would have to be leaking pretty bad. Thermodynamics has other particles form the outside forcing themselves into the room to equalize with atmospheric pressure. It's definitely something to be aware of and definitely could kill you - but its unlikely that one tank bleeding off a little bit occasionally is going to be able to overcome thermodynamics =)
Vol 2 reference is real yo! Great vid Jay! Edit: Nvidia should have, for this gen, released a 1040/ti with 4GB GDDR5/x, 1050/ti with 5GB GDDR5/x all the way to the 1110/ti with 11GB GDDR5/x along with, of course, the Titan at 12GB to be the king of the generation like it's meant to be. That way there would be room for the 1070ti at 7GB of GDDR5/x with base clock frequencies being higher and a handful more CUDA cores thrown in for better compute performance. Then again, that's my logic.
Who cares what you think (I am joking we all do or we wouldn't watch, lol), if its not redundant for the line up it's fine. The price is logical, and for people who have encountered latency issues from GDDR5X in certain applications, and had to get a 1070 for that reason (ME!!) This would have been a better option for my use case. I have 3 1070's. Rather 2 1070tis.
It's interesting looking at this video again today as the 20 series cards release and, at least in the UK, certain vega cards are significantly dropping in price and you can buy certain 1070 ti cards for the same price or less than certain 1070 cards. More to the point, I want to do a full loop water cooled build for my next pc, which means spends lots of time on EK's build site so I can work out if the ultra cheap options can be water cooled in the future. (yes, I'm bored and spending money I don't currently have available lol)
i have the gtx 970 too but i feel it is getting awfully old, but yeah not sure what to do, i would like a gtx 1080ti for "future profing" myself but probably never worth the cost so a 1070ti could be a thing or a 1080 on sale
I have a 970 G1 Gaming from Gigabyte overclocked to 1,47 GHz and I will get a second one soon. I love these cards and in SLI they are between a 1080 and 1080ti in performance.
Bill has it right, for gaming only purposes, if you already have a 970 chill and wait for the 1170. I mean a 970 should be as fast as a 1060 right? That's enough for 1080p high settings irrc. The 1070Ti will literally be equivalent to the 1150ti in like 4 months.
yeap exactly like 1060 for 1080p gaming 970 is more than enough buy the time 1170 or whatever series Nvidia will come up with, by that time probably 4k monitors or 1440p monitors will be even more affordable then it should worth the upgrade and get something better but for now 1080p is more than enough ^^ at least for my taste and wallet :)
Looking at this pricelist @13:40 in 08-2020, it is clear prices only went UP for similar models over the years. Similar cards are now at least 25% more expensive!
Air is 78% nitrogen, so if you would breathe pure nitrogen nothing happens at all, except for the lack of oxygen of course. The stuff Nick is talking about is Nitrous Oxide (=laughing gas, N2O), so the molecules themselves are a bond between Nitrogen and Oxygen, it isn't just a mixture of the two as in the air.
The only reason why I did as you said was to miss the over-MSRP 1080-1080ti prices. Memory and GPUs are killer for my next PC build. Buying it now was a way to prevent it from being affected by coin mining.
I bought a gtx 1070 2 months ago, and this feel really anti consumer releasing it like 16 month after launch of the gtx 10xx line. Just release them all close to the beginning of the new line
Mac Tonight this is where you learn a lesson mr no budget skills. There will always be newer better releases of tech. Sometimes right after you thought you bought the newest or close to best. A fool: cries about the release and wastes lots of money for a small small increase of performance. The masterrace (me): accepts it and still loves his product because it does what he needs.
7:00 When you release gas under pressure, it gets cold. You don't have to worry about your large dewar of LN2 exploding. What you observed is entirely normal and safe.
You may have already done this but you should do a video in how to set up a brand new build. I haven't found any one who has a video on how to set up the bios
When you overlocked, what did you settle on in regards to your OC profile once you benchmarked? I have a 1070ti from Zotac and I'd like to know how far I can go with this
Hope you realize those Nitrogen dewars keep the nitrogen cool by vaporizing and off-gassing some of the nitrogen to the atmosphere. Make sure your office is well ventilated if that is in there!
all depends on optimization, rx vega 56 beats the gtx 1080 by 36% in Wolfenstein 2, sadly not every game has this kind of optimization so 1080 would be a better choice
Jay you keep mentioning that the card shouldn't exist, and i for one completely agree with you, but i felt like your point would have been better carried across had you included a normal 1070 into the benchmarks and then OC'ed that to see where an OC'ed 1070 and a 1070ti sat. We all can guess at the results but i felt like that would have better hammered home the issue. Looking forward to that Liquid Nitro vid you got coming up! Keep up the great work!
To me the value of the "extra slot" that the 1070 TI created is realized as time progresses (as in now). With these model/performance points, every week some vendor somewhere throws a card up on a decent sale for a short period of time. Those of us who are in the market and watching the outer limit of our budget wait for that moment. I got an MSI 1070TI this week for $400 (with two games). So for $400, I got really close to 1080 performance from a quality manufacturer and built in a bit of lifespan. I just can't swing a 1080 with a decent manufacturer. Realistically, my budget was more in line with a 1060, but because of the 1070TI, I was able to get more card. I'm happy. : )
Same thing here, just Zotac instead of MSI. This card has definitely replaced the 1070 for the price I feel, and offers 1080 performance, what's not to love. GN nailed it when they asked whether this card is unnecessary or if it made the 1080 obsolete, which I think it did, but I guess people want a reason to justify the 1080. Also, Vega may be superior in some tasks, but it hasn't come down in price and the lack of board partners and custom bios options is pretty lame, and Nvidia has done a better job reaching out to developers of games that I play which is just an optimization bonus.
I used the Precision XOC auto scanner and it gave me a 114mhz offset on stock voltage. I'm not a big over locker but I'm boosting to 2025mhz in games, very pleased with my 1070ti. It's an EVGA gtx1070ti SC black edition btw
A lot of people say this card shouldn’t exist or don’t know why it does. Well, in my situation, every dollar I have saved up for any PC part is a hard earned dollar for me in my current life situation right now. With that being said, an extra 60-80 dollars (USD) for a 1080 is really far fetched for me at the moment, and having the ability to have practically a 1080 without struggling for that extra few 20s is a life saver for me and makes me feel as if I have an actual 1080 (which obviously comes with bragging rights :) ) and it’s also kinda cool to look back in a few years and say, “yeah remember when Nvidia released that 1070Ti that didn’t need to even be released? I had one!” Sure if I had the money I probably would have bought the 1080 but I’m happy I have the +1 on anyone who has a 1070 and possibly a +1 on people with a base 1080 that don’t overclock the shit out of their components as much as I do :) As always, love the content Jay. And happy New Year all.
Hey Jay! The liquid nitrogen tank is not leaking. The sound you heard is from the depressurize valve. When you hit the tank some of the liquid nitrogen got vaporized so the pressure goes up then the depressurize valve opens to let the gas out and pressure drop. Nothing to worry about!
My MSI Titanium 1070 Ti has been running at +150 core +525 mem voltage & power maxed. I typically run 1987-2012mhz in games all the time. Good card. Wish I could replace it though lol.
Jay, when you ran the FE you had used MSI Afterburner which you boost the core voltage 100 which you didnt do in the evga precision OC so maybe that had something to do with the fail to match
Jay, The TimeSpy and FireStrike Extreme Stress Tests do just that type of testing for you, no scores, but it spits out a % ability to maintain clock speeds from the maximum achieved during the test with a graph to match clocks and temps. Spread the word
I really don't get the comments in this video about "The 1070 ti shouldn't even exist." I own one and it's the EVGA FTW overclocked very similar to yours in this video and zero regrets. Sure I can spend another $50 - $500 on a 1080 (ti) but bang for buck the 1070 ti is the best option for a lot of consumers. Sorry we don't all have $1000 budgets for 1 GPU. You actually prove in this video that it's better than entry level 1080 cards. Congrats, you played yourself.
Random question: for someone that streams, plays games and does a bit of technical work (programming, compiling, etc.), would it be possible to build a good rig that could handle that for $1200 or less? Or is 16 GB of RAM, a 1070 6 GB and an i7 really necessary?
Thank you for not pushing the false stories, but instead giving the real facts right after the intro drop. Too many TH-camrs pretend to "not know", then at the end of the video reveal the truth... when it's obvious only factory OC is stopped here.
Hey Jay, long time lurker of your channel, love your content, keep up the good work! I wasn't really sure where to post this, so I'm sorry if it's in the wrong place... but I've decided it's time to build my own PC and have watched innumerable amount of hours of how to videos etc. I was wondering if you could help me with my build as to what I should have in my system, my budget is about £1600-£2000 and seeing how much is on offer makes my head spin! Just wanted to get your two cents (pun intended) as to what direction I should go!
By the way didn't the MSI software only allowed for a 100% voltage increase while the EVGA software allowed for a 120% voltage increase? So it wasn't really the same settings for both FE and Evga cards, it seems to me at least.
I just got one of these for $330 on Newegg with a small coupon and a November sale. 100% worth it. I am in no way filthy rich, so buying a card is a once in a few years, better get a good one, kind of affair. Good 1080s are still well over $500, and 1070s don't have the future proofing capability I'm looking for. I think these cards are great for the performance/cost right now.
I read an article( can't remember where) but said that they may have made this card because of shortages of ddr5x. It stated they May want to save that ram for 1080 ti and Titan. If true, with the 1070 ti perform close or better than 1080 with over lock it keeps a card in that area while using more available ddr5
@JayzTwoCents ,,, Why is it Necessary to have Power Pin Connectors when the card/s can Very Well Pull power From the Board (and) they" Still DO ",,,"" Even With""power pin connectors ,,, ? Hmm
Re the dewar of LN2, yes, it's supposed to do that. A cryogenic liquid in a pressure vessel without a recondensing system will slowly warm, and this will cause the LN2 to start to boil off and sublimate into nitrogen gas, increasing the pressure in the dewar (since gas is less dense than liquid). To prevent it from exploding there's a pressure release valve on the top of the assembly that maintains a safe pressure. If you have a cryo dewar sitting around in a room for a long period of time, you'll start to hear the safety valve hiss, pop, and stutter as it tries to maintain a safe condition. But knowing that wouldn't have the same entertainment value as wondering why a 75L dewar of LN2 is making noises.
As a tank of LN2 warms up it has to vent to atmosphere to prevent an explosion. Any other compressed gas is the same. even the propane tank on your grill. the difference is the temperature at which it needs to vent.
1080 = 600€
1070Ti = 380€
It's like a 10% difference in power. I don't think it's worth the price difference. I'll buy me a 1070Ti
Do agree brother

"Here's a leaking tank of Nitrogen, that's scary"

If it works for orks, it works for me... Waaah!
Puts finger in valve hole of liquid nitrogen.
“It’s cold in there!”
Ya don’t say!
It's not leaking. It has a pressure valve that opens so the dewer doesn't explode.
So basically, if he had continued slapping it there was a chance it would've really blown up.

Where i live the difference is pretty fucking big
The canisters are designed to vent so they dont become bombs
Liquid nitrogen is just condensed nitrogen gas, which is 70% of the atmosphere....no getting high...
working in a lab with liquid nitrogen and other cryogens, they all vent to make sure that they don't overpressure. the venting is nothing to worry about and you should expect to see / hear it !! @jayztwocents
Marshall McGoff what kind of lab? I work in an organic lab at my university.
Same observation here, working at the Physical Chemistry lab in my college.
Gwendolyn Fowler nice, glad to see a fellow chemist!
Jay's shelves are more stacked than my local Micro Center.
Do you know if I can run the 1070ti in my a320m motherboard in my cyber power pc (prebuilt)
That perfectly timed embargo from every tech youtuber lol
Uploads can be scheduled to be released at a certain time on youtube.
that was his point.
Consumer: "Nvidia why did you launch another 10 series product just to beat Vega 56 instead of just dropping prices?"
Nvidia: "Because fuck you that's why."
Consumer: "Ok cool. Here's all our money."
Nvidia: "That's right bitches."
But Nvidia? Just update my drivers before playing and I almost never have issues.
teamhex
False claim... no articles / news / proofs. Nvidia always had the worst drivers, everything is documented in this video. th-cam.com/video/dE-YM_3YBm0/w-d-xo.html
Not just drivers, "bumpgate" killed thousands (if not millions) of GPUs. You can find links proving what he says in the video description.
My r9 270 still works fine. Won't buy team green for the main reason they are ripping their customers off
manilove2pwn How are they ripping off?? It's a 1070ti that beats a 1080 out of the box for less money.
RX 56 performs the same as 64 but no one says AMD ripping people off lol.
ccmaster86 you sound like a butt hurt AMD fanboy that bought an Rx56 lol.
And this is why I love this channel, starting the video: "I don't know why it exists and why it needs to be here." Keep it up, really great content
It's a marketing bit. You now have a card that is a lot more affordable to the common user that rates pretty well. You have decent performance at a reasonable price range. In all honesty, I'll be purchasing one of these at the end of the money because of how it is priced.
Do you know if I can run the 1070ti in my a320m motherboard in my cyber power pc (prebuilt)
I don't know about nitrous oxide, but if enough N2 escapes it could displace the available O2 in the room and you will get a slight case of hypoxia :)
ddthom2008 Would that be similar to hypoxia when you're at high altitudes or would it be far worse?
If he lets it bleed all night in that room without ventilating it might be a hell of a lot more than slight.
It's nitrogen, 78% of air is nitrogen.
Well if the O2 levels drop to around 10%, they are in for a world of hurt. If it drops to 6% or less... well lets just say no one wants that to happen :(
AC and heaters solve that problem.
He mentions it like 2 minutes later, seems like he was just playing it up for fun.
Putting a cap over it =/= flicking it
13:45 seeing those prices and limited offers makes me wanna cry since I live in the Netherlands. A 1080 here is like 580 euro, which is 681 dollars..
How times have changed.
hey jay you cleaned up and you look much better I see you got some sleep
Actually, Jay, the 1070Ti beats the 1080 FE (stock). Not even by a little bit, it rapes it in most benchmarks and games.
Can you link a vid? I have a 1070ti and would love to get even more proud of it. :D
If you want to overclock the 1070ti I would recommend getting a nzxt g12 bracket and at least a 240mm AIO.
It's to compete better and draw attention away from Vega 56.
Henrath good point, I'm sure it's doing a pretty decent job of that.
durrik Yeah you can overclock the 1070ti to be faster than an out of the box 1080 for sure.
The Asus Strix 1070ti is £100.00 cheaper than the Asus Strix 1080.
Graphic card: Nvidia Smashed Potato Extream graphic 1070
CPU: Intel baked potato 0.001Hz
Hard Drive: First Ever hard drive (5 megabytes)
Monitor: Panasonic super fish
Motherboard: Chopping board
Ram: French fries (2 kilobytes)
CAPTAIN JNBD first ever hard drive size was probably way smaller then 5mb to be honest lol
In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first 'SUPER' computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5 MB of data
Back in the day we called it DSU (disk storage unit) 350.
Wow 2kb ram on French fries... must be those wedges...
Incorect. Hard drive: sp00n
Note - room temperature is well above nitrogen's critical temperature. It can't be liquefied beyond that.
Cooper Gates Hadn't thought about that, thanks for mentioning it. Some of the rare times you actually learn something from youtube comments lol
Nitrous oxide (N2O) can (barely) be liquefied at room temp. Same with carbon dioxide (CO2).
Leaking tank of LN2.
Jay sticks finger into it "it's cold in there!"
This is why women live longer than men
It might not be a bad idea to get an oxygen monitor with all that LN2 indoors.
ride or die
Barnaby0014 idk, maybe a human that needs oxygen to live.
Or jay just isn't someone who is as dumb as you idiots to believe that container is enough to asphyxiate you with displacement of the oxygen in that sized room. The crack under a door is enough to keep that room more than breathable if it was leaking. Which it is bleeding out very very slowly. Definitely not leaking.
there is only ~21% oxygen in atmosphere. You can live with much less, or much more, but other contents are the problem ;)
William corley it's compressed, at atmospheric pressure it has much more volume. And it doesn't matter if it's leaking slowly, overnight it may start leaking more, and as everything will be closed, it could be an issue.
What about OUT OF THE BOX THERMALS???
yledoos, well, you win the award for stupidest question of the day, but I've got you covered with an answer: Its cold when you take it out of the box, room temperature, maybe just a couple of degrees below room temperature. But who gives a fuck what the out of the box temps are, most people are be more interested in its operating temperatures, both at idle and full load.
@Dale Whatson
It's a meme. You just made yourself look like a jackass.
Yay, funhaus.
Dale Whatson You must be fun at parties.
yledoos do you not have a fire extinguisher?
I can get a 1080 for the same price as a 1070 ti in Australia. wtf is wrong with the prices
SkippyZKangaroo a new gpu that has an outrageous price at launch in 2017 OMG NO WAY because that didnt happen with all of the 100XX cards or the whole RX Line up. Ohh wait it did
Launch dates are expensive.
No one is buying 1080s bacause 1080Ti. So, 1070Ti....with cutdown 1080 chips. Because 1080 surplus...Or so I hear. 780ti still good enough for me. :)
Saw the same thing. At my local, the Strix 1070ti is $819.... the Strix 1080 is $821.
sorry mate I'm new to the whole pc thing lol
The question the Consumer needs is "DID NVIDIA SUCCEED?"
Great work as always, looking forward to the Liquid Nitrogen Video!
Thank you for taking the time to make and upload this video. Overclocking, MSI Afterburner rules, in MHO.
next video first ever threadripper liquid nitrogen build??????
shadow0727 _ someone around the time it released used a liquid nitrogen build to be able to oc the 1950x to like 5.2ghz I think
No its for a kingpin 1080ti he showed it on twitter
I'm pretty sure he's just making ice cream with it.
That was my first thought as well. "Liquid nitrogen? He's gonna use it to cool a cpu isn't he."
Yeah, to put it in Fractal Josh’s words, “It makes stuff cool”
the tank is venting because the liquid is boiling, as it evaporates it extracts heat from its surrounding (the liquid), keeping it at its boiling temperature at a certain pressure.
It needs to be here. Not everyone has your money Jay.
Jozi X the 1070 ti is $100 to $200 cheaper than the 1080...
Jozi X * Nvidia announces a gt 1030 ti *
I Just bought the 1070 ti for 425 dollars. Pretty good deal imo.
In my country the price gap between a 1080 and 1070ti is 150€
I picked up a 1070 ti FE for $300 shipped. Really good bang for your buck.
I mean, there is no reason for this card to exist, but no real harm is done, with it's performance and pricing.
Jay I love the way you present your content. I've waited to watch a 1070ti video till yours came out
“Here we have a can of liquid nitrogen with a huge ass dent in it so it’s a little scary and I don’t think I should do that” Then proceeds to smack the tank for a solid 30 seconds 😂
@JayzTwoCents Don't worry about the Nitrogen tank bleeding off its supposed to, just make sure the pressure building valve is closed, The warmer it gets the more it will blow off.
Horray for Jay, shutting people up! About the overclocking rumor, Don't slap me..
SerpentXSF * Punch *
*Eats his ass*
Nice punctuation
Whoa.....
Leave some for me.
SerpentXSF it's still bullshit
Great Video despite the noise! Love your content man!
Nvidia:GTX 1070ti has 8gb like the 1080ti
You:what bull$h!t are you talking about 1080ti has 11GB
Nvidia:oh $h!t,too late now!
As far as i know ,I don't think its vram is even like 1080 ...this one has only 8gb gddr5 as compared to 1080 which has 8gb gddr5x ...and ofcourse the x in the end sounds wayyy cooler...
EVGA's newest One has 12GB
Just like the 970!
Nvidia: it has 4 GB
Consumer: no, it’s only 3.5. Here’s a lawsuit.
Nvidia: no no no we’ll just give you each $30!
Courts: uhh ok
abhishek kapil the x in the name just means it's a faster memory.
The 970 does have 4 gigs of ram.
This is a worse and cheaper 1080
exactly. Baught my 1080 for exactly 500€, thats maybe 20 bucks more than a 1070TI. Makes no sense to save that little money.
TR_AtaOzd not really cheaper :(
Back in March and April Newegg had brand new Gigabyte GTX1080 for $419.99 and $429.99 on ebay store they sold thousands of them if they can sell for that price and still make profit.
TR_AtaOzd it's cheaper and did you not watch the video?? It's faster than a 1080 straight out the box.
MayDay GoingDown!! False it’s faster then a stock 1080 when the 1070 to is overclocked. It is not faster than a 1080 out of the box
Would rather have the tank expel excess gas than it exploding from too much pressure.
Then again, that's my logic.
i have a stable overclock on the Gigabyte gtx 1070ti, i was able to get
core voltage: 100
core clock: 250
memory clock: 500
I have the same card. Can core voltage always be set to +100% or is that a risk?
Thnx for the vid Jay love your channel
Linustechtips and jayztwocents uploaded at the EXACT SAME TIME about the 1070 ti
It's almost like there was a set date and time given to them by nvidia
Bitwit too
I'm surprised how many people don't understand NDAs
Jayz, in conclusion
If got budget, you will more prefer got to 1080 right ? Because I still thinking should I go for 1070TI or 1080
Who cares what you think (I am joking we all do or we wouldn't watch, lol), if its not redundant for the line up it's fine.
(yes, I'm bored and spending money I don't currently have available lol)
well i am going to keep my gtx 970 for now and get some money for the next 2080ti or what ever ^^
i have the gtx 970 too but i feel it is getting awfully old, but yeah not sure what to do, i would like a gtx 1080ti for "future profing" myself but probably never worth the cost so a 1070ti could be a thing or a 1080 on sale
I have a 970 G1 Gaming from Gigabyte overclocked to 1,47 GHz and I will get a second one soon. I love these cards and in SLI they are between a 1080 and 1080ti in performance.
i think no its not worth it just spare 200$ more and get one of the new series when its out keep control your selfffff ^^
What a strange card.
hey Jay, im a total noob on this, wouldnt help a bit put a fan on the back pulling air or in the front blowing some?
Caveman and nitrogen tank
First 10 seconds were enough for me. Thanks Jay.
Air is 78% nitrogen, so if you would breathe pure nitrogen nothing happens at all, except for the lack of oxygen of course. The stuff Nick is talking about is Nitrous Oxide (=laughing gas, N2O), so the molecules themselves are a bond between Nitrogen and Oxygen, it isn't just a mixture of the two as in the air.
pure n2 will knock your ass out
The only reason why I did as you said was to miss the over-MSRP 1080-1080ti prices.
Don't worry about it. Something faster is always going to come out. Love the one you're with.
Well the price would still be a factor so probably wouldn't have changed your purchase if you didn't have the money for a 1080.
The fact that you heard a leak means you were losing nitrogen, but nitrogen isn't super expensive anyway. It's (almost) literally compressed air.
a 1060 ti would have been a better card ...
Wrong.
Just get the 1080ti and 🎮 if ur not poor.
You may have already done this but you should do a video in how to set up a brand new build. I haven't found any one who has a video on how to set up the bios
Watching this at school yeet
What is "yeet"?
He spends his time at school watching youtube videos instead of studying. What did you expect? An A+ in grammar?
Thank you for making this clear jay, I was confused about this until this video.
What's next, 1060 ti?
Vrysed 1050 ti ti ti oc ti edition
Yes. You call it over a year ago.
1660 ti lives.
Just me, or is there a slight desync on video and audio for a minute or so of the video around the 4:30-5:00 mark?! Cool video though!
"Two Idiots Bang on a Leaky Nitrogen Tank"
When you overlocked, what did you settle on in regards to your OC profile once you benchmarked? I have a 1070ti from Zotac and I'd like to know how far I can go with this
Only a fool would buy a 1070 Ti
RepsUp100 not in uk, 1070ti is about £100 cheaper than the 1080
The Hunter which site?
only a fool would cop a 1080 fuck you mean
The Hunter I found good 1080's for £490, and the cheapest good 1070 Ti I found was £420.
Just because it's a dumb card in the hierarchy doesn't mean it's a bad card to buy. It's still a good card.
Hope you realize those Nitrogen dewars keep the nitrogen cool by vaporizing and off-gassing some of the nitrogen to the atmosphere. Make sure your office is well ventilated if that is in there!
don't do that you will die if it broke
oxygen will replace by nitrogen
death by lack of oxygen
Himanshu We breathe around 79% nitrogen it’s not going to hurt lmao
Yeah...but its pure nitrogen we breathe in mixed gases
There is 79% nitrogen already in air you are adding more 100% pure N2
If enough n2 is escaping, suffocation is the least of your worries. You will freeze to death before you die by lack of oxygen.
Diepvries11 yes
14:07 That was the last think that I ever thought Jay would say
luke hazard lol thats what she said right?!?
If you buy this over a 1080 or Vega 56...you are on drugs..and should probably stop doing drugs.
Tick Tock Tech Vega 56) Same price, hotter, slower, more power draw, louder, no AIB cards
1080) Slightly more expensive, slightly faster
all depends on optimization, rx vega 56 beats the gtx 1080 by 36% in Wolfenstein 2, sadly not every game has this kind of optimization so 1080 would be a better choice
What if you need that extra $20 for more drugs?
Vega 56 is 400 dollars, also known as cheaper.
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202302&cm_re=vega_56-_-14-202-302-_-Product
Last week I bought the MSI GTX 1070ti Armor for 444 euro , the cheapest GTX 1080 was 519 euro ! So i saved 75 euro's , why am i on drugs ? i'm not !
Jay. WOW! Nitrogen!? You rock!!!!
I am so excited to see you start that game up!!!
hey jayz on your nvidia gpu wall, which one is the big shiny msi one?
Dear Jay any chance you could do a video about de-lidding cpu. Why you would and how to thanks
Jay, I thought you preferred NZXT CAM instead of MSI Afterburner. If so, why do we only ever see you use Afterburner?
I had one!”
Sure if I had the money I probably would have bought the 1080 but I’m happy I have the +1 on anyone who has a 1070 and possibly a +1 on people with a base 1080 that don’t overclock the shit out of their components as much as I do :)
As always, love the content Jay.
What program is that by evga that automatically scans your gpu and finds the best OC? I would really appreciate a reply. Thanks
Was that first overclock just on msi afterburner?
I really don't get the comments in this video about "The 1070 ti shouldn't even exist." I own one and it's the EVGA FTW overclocked very similar to yours in this video and zero regrets. Sure I can spend another $50 - $500 on a 1080 (ti) but bang for buck the 1070 ti is the best option for a lot of consumers. Sorry we don't all have $1000 budgets for 1 GPU. You actually prove in this video that it's better than entry level 1080 cards. Congrats, you played yourself.
Doesn't EVGA already have that built into their normal overclocking software? I played with that on my 1080 a few months ago.
JayzTwoCents. Any reason your 1070s are gpu boosting lower than my MSI GT72vr Laptops 1070? It hits 1999mhz without overclocking and no throttling.
On overclocking, do you recomend using the auto overclocking feature with the 1080 on using afterburner? or Doing it manually?
Maybe do a video comparing the two. Doesn't have to be 1080 per say, just a card that supports it.
In Germany a Asus GTX 1070ti costs 570 Euros and a Gigabyte GTX 1080 560 Euros. Pricing still doesnt make sense over here at all.
So what 1070 do i need to buy?
The TI version, the OC version, and what brand? Let me know thank you.
Progje the zotac AMP extreme 1070 Ti is a great card.
