    Your ratchets are 3x louder than your voice so when I turn up the volume all the way up to decipher your timid mumbling, I am rewarded with a nice jumpscare from the clanking and ratcheting. That aside, you are a tremendous help in teaching me how to maintain my daily driver

    Good Vid again. I usually cover the plug holes with a couple of rags just in case. A buddy of mine rebuilt his carb on his motorcycle he said I've got a tick now. You missing anything yes a small brass washer. Its in the cylinder I told him. No way. I told him you just won the lottery friend. And it was in there. More stuff in the way compared to my day. Still not a hard job just time wise. Keep it up Dean love seeing these hope more people do.

    Can you do a video on the E90 Reverse lights / Footwell module issue many of us are having and how to resolve it? My mechanic tried but was unable to procure a used module that would work. The issue is that the module has a relay or something that when tripped 50+ times sends a message to the computer and says the reverse lights are responding. Car terminates functionality of the reverse lights. This is how I understood the problem.

      Yes it’s same procedure for N53 mate no different parts are not expensive that depends if your valve cover is cracked or not as it will be plastic you would need to check if valve cover is cracked will be about £180 for the parts

    Hey man I got an 07 525i n52 bmw stalled at 80 mph in 5th gear. It’s not an alternator/battery something mechanical happened I think no bangs or weird noises when I try to start it now it’s cranking way fast and I have no spark or fuel, I have compression 150 in each, I also have oil in the spark chambers leaking. Would have added some valve gasket sealer just to create a perfect seal

  • @rex7486
    @rex7486 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I recently did this job and ran into an unusual problem... One bolt at the rear of the motor went in okay but wouldn't tighten all the way. Then, when I backed it out, it has seized and will not back out all the way (most likely cross-threaded). So now I'm relying on every other bolt around the valve cover to "keep the lid on".

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No mate you can’t as it has eccentric shaft seal hole and the valvetronic motor you can’t seal them up so it would leak oil everywhere plus the ccv is different

    Great channel name man! I wouldn't advise taking those spark plugs out and then removing valve cover nuts, if you drop one in there it's a literal nightmare. No need to remove the spark plugs for the valve cover tutorial anyway.

    Dean
    Did you loosen or back off the valve tronic motor before removing it? And when replacing the valve Tronic motor did you have to reset it a certain number of turns? Otherwise BANG on video my friend. I love this stuff. Most folks do not realize they are capable of doing this themselves.

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No mate I loosened it after removing the bolts do not loosen it before hand mate and after no need for reset just put key in ignition turn it on and off twice to adapt the motor depending on your year if it’s before 2007 you will need to relearn the settings

      @@BMWDoctor so with a 2006 330i, when you say relearn settings? does shutting off ignition twice do this? or need to do through software? also do you have a link to what torque wrench you used? just looking at tackling this job....thx.....I just see some light leaking around the vcg...so not sure how long I can wait....i gotta try to look with a mirror on the underside of it....can you basically wait until you smell oil in the cabin? only have like 82k....not losing any oil really in 5000k miles...

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      for your car you will need the software to relearn the settings that is correct you will not be able to drive it without doing that any car built after 2007 learns itself any before that need software to relearn the valvetronic positions also I have a video regarding the valve cover aswell on these@@andrews1722

    What year is this n52? Mines an 07 with a plastic valve cover, is their any difference? Also would you suggest to use rtv high temp gasket sealer to hold the gasket in place while putting on the cover? Looks tight

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      no do not use that my friend and yes you will have the plastic valve cover after 2007 which is a nightmare because it has to be changed as a whole as it cracks and also the CCV is situated inside the valve cover aswell
