After looking for days, this is, by far, the best gasket change show found. Very good work !! BTW, what's really helpful, is your comments about diagnosing, guessing, checking and validating your suspicions; from customer complaint to bad work done before. You rock man !!

Is it my imagination or are you much happier now that you're on the road. You seem to have a lot more pep in your step, a positive attitude and basically seem to be enjoying your work and life more as a mobile mechanic than you were when you had your shop. You even look healthier. Bad things happening to you in life can often lead to better things which you weren’t expecting.

Just paid $500 to have mine replaced on my BMW 528i 2014. After watching this video, I’d say it was worth it. So much stuff to take off and watch out for. If I done this myself it would’ve taken a couple days easily and I’d probably screw something up along the way. Great video.

Your quality of work is outstanding. I know you’re not a shade tree mechanic but for those of us who are, you give us who too take pride in their work work a good name. I ALWAYS do work on someone else’s car as if it were my own. If I wouldn’t do it to my cars, I won’t do it to theirs. Great work brother!

  • @Garth2011

Very good repair and if some hadn't noticed, you did use a vacuum to clean out the hole that needed taping. I have to say, how disgusting for the previous mechanic to have simply said to himself "No way I'm taking this apart again" to correct his mistake with the wiring loom. Secondly, all of the grey silicone isn't part of the OEM repair process. Also, good idea on the new bolts, hadn't thought of that before but when you said they are an aluminum alloy, it made much sense. Owner should be happy with the new cabin filters. Too bad the owner isn't that tidy with his vehicle interior. Thanks for showing us your talent...great job.

8:20, the correct way of removing the Valvetronic motor, is to gently turn the allen key in the end clockwise, until you feel resistance before you start removing the bolts. Then remove the bolts, but don't pull the motor out. Now to remove the Valvetronic motor, turn the allen key counterclockwise, that will "push" the motor out, using the internal movement.

    • @z4funkdreamer986
      @z4funkdreamer986 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes incognito
This is the correct way according to me but impossible to know if this method need to have realearn with ista+ or just standard ignition mode
May be if you remove the valvetronic immediately counterclockwise as seen on this video , ignition reset is just needed as eccentric shaft stay in last position
Really dont know if you have more infos please let me know

With my recently acquired 525i, I noticed burnt oil sitting in that tray, or whatever it is, below the cat converter. I just figured it was remnants of maintenance long past. However, with taking the car in for safety recall for the PCV valve, they told me about a leaking valve cover gasket, along with a $1.7k estimate for the work. Bwahahahaha! Nope. I'll be doing it myself. Thanks 💯 for this quick tutorial, since I wasn't sure about that valvetronic motor. 😊

Invest in a Labor Guide from
www.MOTOR.com to see what you're really supposed to be Charging people/Customers fỏr EVERY job on the Car.
Example : Shop Rate ỏr your Rate is $90.00 an hour :
Labor for Oil Change for "this" certain car may be .3 ( three tenths of 1 hour )
      .3 X $90.00 = $27.00 for Labor
      6 Quarts of Oil @ $5.00 each = $30.00
      1 Oil Filter = $7.00
      $27 + $30 + $7 = $64.00 + TAX
      An Idiot that charges $25.00 per hour Labor = .3 X $25 = $7.50 for Labor
I wouldn't even get out of my Bed to receive $7.50 for Automotive Oil Change Labor
      Automotive Professional background.

Great details and instructions to make the difficult job easier. A question: valve covers from 2008 BMW 525i, 528i, and 530i start to use plastic, which is more prone to overheat and thus seal leaks. Are they identical in shape and the use of an earlier aluminum version possible?
