Some Great games here when the era of gaming began:spectrum+Atari then C64 then the consoles etc..The games were not about graphics but about innovation experimentation and imagination things that you rarely find nowdays.
And Yes that is Wizardry at 9:50 i finished it with 2 friends of mine watching at a friends house after many days time of learning,he opened up a Bottle of shampain from his grandmothers likers to Celebrate that we finished it !!!
Ah, so many great memories. If I wasn't playing C64 at home, I visited the arcade at the amusement park. A hotel in Greece had Bubble Bobble and Midnight Resistance in the lobby when we were on holiday there. Money was tight so we got only two games per year, birthdays and Christmas. Ikari Warriors, Camelot Warrior, Jack the Nipper, Spy vs. Spy, Mikie... So many classics that I still play to this day, I have the C64 Mini or whatever but I'd rather play them on the SNES Classic as the controller is much better.
Terramex! Without this video I never would have tracked that game down. Cheers mon ami!
I actually miss the days of being a kid playing on the old C64. Then I'd go on holiday and play in the arcades. I almost kinda wish I could go back. That old retro vibe was the coolest!
@davidjg damn... 12 years ago comment. :(. I wanna go back even more now. Rofl!
Awesome, simply awesome list of games...
HYSTERIA...also forgotten about that one....OMG thank you so much for posting this!!
haha crazy comets....how long since I have played THAT one....
some great games I totally forgotten about like DELIVERANCE...
sure to play that one again soon!!!
great man....keep 'em coming those old school videos....!!!
First computer I ever had was a commodore 64 and first game I ever played was ghostbusters on it.
ghostbusters, Xmas day, 1985 :)
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Eventually I'll post the next one but it's been lurking partially complete on my disk for almost a year now :S
Bionic Commando, been lookin for that game for ages, thanks 64 for the nice compilation
Great compilation. The only ones we had were at 5:56 and 6:02 (can't remember their names) and we had cops and robbers. Many hours of endless fun, we thought that games could not get any better then this at the time, LOL.
Nice compilation, opposing thumbs UP!
Thanks!!! I've been searching for many of these games for years :)
For all you guys looking for the titles, they're in the description, that's how I found The Sacred Armour of Antiria at 0:32 :D
Same as WWetnasux said !!
I wish these kind of games were around i would gladly live with it cause the times were about having fun and using your imagination a whole of a lot more back then .
Thanks! One set of 100 clips is quite enough for me don't know how you did more ;)
Nemesis was released on the c64 as "nemesis" and was a straight gradius port the same as the amstrad cpc464 and the spectrum .. though to be honest the spectrum 128k had the better music, (amstrad had the better game) Would never have made it onto the remix 64 website if it hadn't of been released as a sid.. and I should know I was the guy that remixed and submitted it :-)
nice vid, brings back some great memories. good music to boot also!
Sniff. I feel old...
Thanks for the awesome video!
back in '02 i must've been the only 14 year old who knew what a commodore 64 was, man lot of kids my age were missing out, still now hardly any of them know what it is.
Yep, although Blood Bros. was an arcade only game - as far as I know; it was the same company (Tad) and the same engine that Cabal used except with western graphics.
The C64 port was also developed by Tad.
Very nice list, thank you :)
think I've played 80% of these games... Very good memories! I love you C64!
Thanks. We played cops and robbers more then the others and I think we played it so much it pretty much wore it out as well, LOL.
Some of these games are really, REALLY elaborate for an 8-bit system! I grew up with the Atari 8-bits, but I doubt it could handle some of these!
Captain Blood. It had a complete language, called Bloodian, invented especially for it. The Atari ST version featured spoken Bloodian which was possible to hear and understand.
Brilliant video! Kicking tunes too lol. Nice one!
@commodoreguy64 Yeah my bad, just a little reading mistake on my part late in the evening/early in the morning :) And thanks for the vid, really helps finding those hidden gems for a newcomer to the C64 like me.
Thanks for this video!!
I hope "Another 100 commodore 64 games part 3"
Greetings from spain
what memeories thank you...and the music was awesome too..recognised a few tunes...remixed of course...
Thanks to the genius who made these videos, the music is one of the best i've ever heard
If the game involved trying cut the grass whilst running from the neighbour whose mower you had 'borrowed' then it's Hover Bovver by Jeff Minter.
I've compiled a list of about 140 more games which haven't been covered by me or laffer35 (and are well known). One day I'll create another '100' video but it's one hell of a tedious.
It's: Nemesis (easter island mix) by infamous. You can find a bunch of his other stuff (along with every C64 remix you ever wanted) over at remix kwed org.
Some games I have played that I have not seen yet on here. Q-Bopper (Qbert clone), Super Zaxxon, Pole Position, Omega Race, and Summer Games. I also played some carnival pinball game, but I can't remember the name of it. Used the paddles.
I'm looking for a sidescroll game where you play as a robot (rather large sprite if I remember correctly) shooting stuff in a spacestation or something like that. I remember there was a boss robot which was as tall as the screen! It's similar looking game than the one that's near at the beginning of this video.
Good job!! Thank you!! 🤗🤗
old age creeps up on you! I am only 28 but sometimes it feels like the last ten years just went by way too quickly..
@Alianger You're thinking of Alley Cat, not Alleykat, which was a PC game that began with you controlling a cat jumping on dustbins in an alley. Actually, if memory serves, it was originally written for the Atari but the awful CGA purple and cyan PC version is better known.
Thanks, it's Battle Valley by Hewson.
It's Captain Blood, the list is on the right...
It is was an arcade original, all the other platforms were cloned afterwards. Hell there's even a ZX spectrum version.
@projekativer thats why if you had any sense you learned assembler .. and it also free'd up memory as :)
Yeah - it's the game at 1:07. There's some good remixes of it's music on remix kwed org again too.
You can find those on remix kwed org also. Click the picture of the chip next to the remix (link name [SID]).
You'll need SidAmp or Sidplay to listen to it though.
I would rather play these than the latest games. I find these ones are so much better.
Great vid and a lot of memories.. The Great Escape..
Anyone recognize this C64 game: you played as as a green creature that ran through a forest fast while bobbing his head. You had to avoid obstacles and if memory serves correct, your head got lobbed off if it touched something.
Aivottaja William Wobbler i think.
The game is Chuck Yeargers Advanced Flight Simulator (it's in the list) however I cheated slightly with it, Driller and Test Drive and set the emulator speed to 150%.
Very cool!
RIP man
The game is Championship Sprint, the sequel to Super Sprint. There have been many, many clones but no official Sprint game was released on the PC.
Back then they had poor graphics and designers tried to repay it with awesome gameplay, nowadays games have poor gameplay but designers try to repay it with uber cool graphics more realistic than reality lol
Ta Infy. Saved me a bit of typing there. :)
@fourbarposer Describe it a little more? The only C64 platform game that I know of that takes place in a school classroom, is "Mikie". Mikie is a boy though, but the semi-long blond hair, could kinda look like a girl I guess. A teacher is chasing you & there are desks in the classroom. The music is "Hard Day's Night" by the Beatles. Is that it? Search TH-cam for "Mikie C64" & let me know. Would be funny if that's the game. Last week somebody else was looking for the same exact game LOL!
thats an awsome tune btw
Welcome to Xenophobe! (Amiga module track)
The next weeks there will be a new version on Next Gen Consoles. Was one of my favourites, too! :)
The Sacred Armour of Antiriad, incidently the list's on the right.
Heck of a lot more creative ideas back then. Now all you see is mostly clones. Where did we go wrong?
Spindizzy! Spell of Destruction! Uridium!
It's Deliverance, the sequel to Stormlord.
You're probably thinking of Stormlord.
Run the Gauntlet, the list is in the detail.
oh wait there it is. still would be nice in the vid
Mmmm... I think you're talking about the game @1:27 I'm looking for the previous one! :-)
(by the way I've found it: CABAL! :-)
No Frank Bruno's boxing, nor Paradroid ,i know its 10 minutes , but come on ...i can name another 4
@cliverto That's a repackage of WinVice 2.2 with games which is not, strictly speaking, legal.
I always knew "Scarabaeus" as "Invaders of the Lost Tomb."
my too...blue moon..falcon patrol and apaclpse....purple turtles ...was wonderfull 1989 😀💍
verry nice!
Infamous is awesome, but I would have went with his remix of Driller instead of his Nuclear Fallout remix of AWP
It showed super sprint. That's one of my favourite c64 titles. I know a puzzle game n4pgamer it's called split personalities. You have to piece together a picture of the American president. It's pretty good.
AWSOME!
epic song after 5:00
Gradius ftw
200 games now and still some of my favorties are missing, like "Steel Tunder" oder "Star Fleet I" ;)
Love The Music!!!...
Having played both recently I must say I prefer the 64 version. Even today it's still a good game in it's own right. The PC version is... clunky.
oh yeah ...thanks a lot!
u are so right !!!
@Espie1979 Lost interest in "modern games"? Me too, for the most part. What about vintage/classic games though? C64, Atari, classic arcade games, etc. I LOVE retro-gaming. I have consistently been searching TH-cam classic gaming channels, got potential retro gaming players/buddies. I must admit, I've had little luck. A few "yea, OK!, Sure!'"'s, here & there, that unfortunately that never materialize. Here goes. Think you might be interested in some online retro gaming? let me know. :-)
Heyyo great video my man, for all the tecmo bowl lovers see the O.G., see Gamestar GBA Champioship Baskerball and play it, Live LOVERS, SEE the 1'st live from E.A called Dr. J vs Larry Bird on the Commador 64 ONLY folks with these titles I'm speaking of, The NBA League Has Magic, Dr. J, Kareem, Jerry Welt and many others, I challenge ALL tecmo basketball players to play this GBA championship, Live Ballers I challenge them to play Dr.J vs Larry Bird on Commador 64, you'll see they are GREAT games

i love it
@Shodian I love helping people try to figure out long lost games. I just helped somebody figure out a game they were looking for "Mikie". Can you give me a little more information? Anything? Is it a platform game, shoot'er, is it an Adventure game? Is it more graphic/text based, like where you "type in" commands? Or more arcade type? Describe anything else you can. I most likely have it & or can tell you where to get it. So far, the game you describe sounds like a graphic RPG/Text based
@gjc82071 do you think you could help me figure a game out that I know my cousin used to play all the time on the 64? it was this little brown guy, he was shaped as a little peanut or something of that sort. I remember there being alot of ice around and he slid down things. If he slid down he would die sometimes and you would see a little skeleton appear. Sorry that is all I can remember but I have to know what it was. It was an adventure game is that's of any help. Thank you
you're right..on the..right ,hheh, my bad, lol.
Great list but missing Silkworm and Beyond the Ice Palace
They are: Artura, and The Great Escape.
Thx
Click on "more info" follow the link to remix kwed org. Search for "nemesis". Click on the result "Nemesis (easter island mix)".
Out of interest Nemesis was better known as Gradius.
