    Best part about C64 games was how they easy were to copy from your friends. I had a shoebox full of floppy disc bootleg games. But oh Lord, the worst was the cassette tape drive. It took like 9 hours to load Beach Head.

    Definitely bringing back a LOT of memories. The music ALONE tells me which ones I remember playing, and which ones I didn't. The music in between clips was the best--Commando, wasn't it? I played that for HOURS!
    The best part of the C64 was BASIC. It was the EASIEST language to write in. I wrote a Banner program that created dot matrix banners, using each letter of a banner to create that letter...a Data Match program with 200 questions that I used on all my friends to match them up (I was always great at knowing what questions to ask, and knowing what made people compatible--I successfully created 22 different couples, 4 of whom ended up dating through high school and got married. They're welcome! LOL)...AND a great space-based game with glowing crystals you had to maneuver a ship down through tight spaces to destroy in order to move up through levels. I actually tried to sell that last one, but by then, Commodore was shutting down and wasn't interested.

    Surprised that none of the Cauldron games got higher votes. Although very difficult, had a ton of fun with those games as a kid. Fist 2 and Armor of Antiriad are also 2 titles that seem to be underrated. Love the fact you snuck some Fist 2 music in!
    That said can’t argue with the quality in the top 10, all stone cold classics!

    cool vid bro 😍Katakis at #34 looks like a corker! That's some kind of list from the Lemon'ers very interesting results. Surprised that Speedball 1 or 2, Super Cars, Slicks, Lotus, Green Beret, I.O. and a few others didn't make the list, but it is based on 100 votes and those games I see on Lemon 64 didn't reach that mark. I would have thought this would have been the top 10 not in any order just as the top 10 games -

    A very good list and gets my seal of approval. With soooooooooooo many games for the C64, creating a top# list has to be a nightmare for anyone. There are still some games, even on this list, that I never had a chance to try. A few I would have liked to have seen: Pitfall II, 7 Cities of Gold, The Gold Box Games (AD&D as 1 entry), Ocean Ranger. I was very happy to see Wasteland hit your top 10. What a gem!

    Great video! 👏 I’ve watched several “best of C64 games” videos lately and this is the best one. You had so many favorites: Jumpman, M.U.L.E., Law of the West, Forbidden Forest, Beachhead, and too many others to mention. And I was especially happy to see my all-time favorite, Impossible Mission, on your list. The only one from my top ten that you didn’t have is Rescue on Fractalus. I just about jumped out of my skin when the alien appeared the first time. 😂
    I also enjoyed seeing Lemmings and Shoot Em Up Construction Kit for the C64 since I had both for the Amiga but had never seen the C64 versions before.
    Anyway, I bought my C64 way back in 1983 and I’ve own many others since but none had as a big influence on my life as the C64.

    @Floridaadler ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For me the best C-64 game by far was M.U.L.E. played in the "Expert mode". It had so much dependencies, the game is an exercise in supply and demand economics involving competition between up to four players (2 Joysticks / 2 keyboard). If you played with less players you got computer opponents. See the Wikipedia article for more details.
    P.S.: I caught the mountain swampus 😃

    • @Retro_B8
      @Retro_B8  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MULE was like nothing I’d played before, I was too to young to really understand it at first but a few years later when playing with friends it really was a class game to play, I couldn’t imagine playing on expert mode though!!

    • @Floridaadler
      @Floridaadler ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Retro_B8 Expert mode just had the additional feature that the store ran out of stock and so the prices increased for every rare resource up to maximal amounts. E.g. if energy ran out of stock the store offered e.g. 100 credits, but the players with demand could bid higher (running up), while the supplying player could wait and sell short before time ran out. This meant that the wealth of players could increase making the entire game wealthier. I loved it...

      So this 100 is purely based on the very popular C64 website Lemon64 where everyone can vote for their favourite games etc. stipulations are, must have at least 100 votes and that’s it! The lowest score here is 7.95 which believe it or not is just a little higher (with 100 votes) than all the games listed although personally a few of yours would make my personal top 100, which I’m working on!
