Wise choice with PitStop 2 - that was one of my faves on C64. So much that when Nintendo started selling C64 games on the Wii store, it was my first purchase followed by Uridium.
Shamus Case II. Shamus was a good Berzerk type game with flip screen adventuring action. But Shamus Case II radically modified the formula into something truly unique. It mixed things up with platforming screens and weird shooter screens. The shooter screens were a weird shooter/breakout hybrid that set Shamus Case II in a class all its own. The platforming screens gave you the unusual - for its time - ability to maneuver left/right in mid-air. This is standard now, but back then it was a cool twist.
Brilliant games there! Armalyte blew me away with those ace, smoothly animated graphics and the gameplay! Thalamus could really up the c64 graphics to high levels! Kikstart 2 was incredibly addictive, tweaking building and replaying them courses! Cheers very much, another top vid 🍻
Bang on form with the analogies, OSG! Several here I'm adding to my 'games to check out' list, I like the look of Fire King and It's Magic II. I do remember with Pitstop II, it was the first racing game to really feel like a fully immersive, long race, with unfolding events and pitstops. Excellent!
Can't speak about the C64 games... But Titus had a strange period between 1992 and 1994 o4 95, not sure, where they actually made some good games. Crazy Cars 3 on the Amiga is very solid. They made The Blues Brothers, Titus the Fox, Quik The Thunder Rabbit and probably more I can't remember (I know they made a few SNES games on that period too). But then they went back to do the usual crap they always did.
@@rafaellima83I seem to remember a Lamborghini game on the SNES they made which was quite good for the time. I think it got a follow up on the N64 as well. They did make some good stuff, it's just they did used to have a bit of a reputation back then.
The music that played when you were getting killed in BtFF still makes my hair stand on end today. Brutal detail in the deaths, too (for the time, of course)
I'll throw in a couple. BCII Grogs Revenge was a big improvement on BC Quest for Tyres......and whilst I think Finders Keepers is a great wee game, the sequel Spellbound was still a very big step up.

@@oldstylegaming Yeah looks good that! Like a souped up Battlezone, I played Carrier Command on the Amiga, wouldn't of guessed they'd port that to the C64! But as I saw in the vid it's nothing like it....
Nice list! I wonder how many of these sequels were written by the same person or team as the previous one. Sometimes a new person or team making the game is all it takes to make it better, though it's not always the original author(s) fault as games were often rushed to meet some deadline etc.
Good video as always and can't really argue with any of the choices. I always felt bad for C64 owners with Battle Command because whilst all the other computer versions, including the Speccy and CPC, were 3D gamed all the way, C64 owners got shafted with that 2D overhead version which just looked abysmal. As for Amiga games, Crazy Cars 3 is so far ahead of its previous 2 its surprising they are part of the same series, as the first 2 were awful and then ehte 3rd comes along and it is such an improvement.
well... its sort of not is it, it goes under 2 name Lamborghini American Challenge so maybe they were gonna drop the Crazy Cars name as it was a name that everyone avoided like the plague
@@oldstylegaming Well it was released both as CC3 and Lambourghini (same game with a couple of tweaks). Either way it is so far ahead of 1 and 2 to be almost incredible.

Crazy Cars 3 really was a case of Titus in actual good game shocker. I fluked it with both Chase HQ and Chase HQ2 - I decided to go with Chase HQ for my Speccy +2 not the C64.. The following year I saw previews for Chase 2 (but no reviews) and took the risk of pre-ordering it. Thankfully it was a massive improvement. Lot of love for Double Dragon 2 as well but pretty much every home port of the original was awful anything was going to be better the fact that it was actually great fun was a bonus
nah not related but its magic came 5 years after Mayhem in Monsterland so maybe they took inspiration from it...sadly its no where near as good as Mayhem but Its Magic 2 is much closer in quality
Dune 2 is not really a sequel to Dune. They were in production at the same time, by two different studios, and fun thing, Cryo Entertainment didn't even know about the other game being made at first. Dune follows the 1984 movie very closely, as Dune 2 does not what so ever, it completely builds the world of Dune from the ground up. It is by most people maybe, considered to be a sequel just because of the naming, but they are in fact not related in any way.
Xenon 1 is a better game than Xenon 2. Xenon 2 is a bad shoot'em up with awful level design, really choppy, a stupid "scroll backwards" mechanic, a shop (those rarely ever work well in shmups).... but an excellent soundtrack. Xenon 1 is an average shoot'em up with some interesting gameplay mechanics and a decent framerate
