      Hello Luke! Thanks for posting this video. I'm very excited to visit Taiwan this March 11th. Though, I'm a bit worried what clothes to bring since the weather seems to be so eratic? Would you mind telling us when this video was taken? Is it cold outside this march? Thanks a lot!

    • @LukeMartin
      @LukeMartin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This was taken at the beginning of March! You will want to wear pants. T shirt during the day and a light sweater during the nights! It's very comfortable weather this time for Taiwan

      Depends which city you go to. I live in the South (Kaohsiung) and it's already feeling like hot summer down here. But Taipei is much colder and rainy this time of year. Have a good trip!

    The Gua Bao shop was a big shop in the night market when I was a kid, it seems that is a family business and they not only sold Gua Bao but also sold drinks. It was cheap and big, so every time when I visited the night market I bought one, my favorite was coffee milk. But somehow they closed and now as you can see, it became a small shop without lights.

      There is this Asian(not sure which country) across from my doctors, so every Monday after my appointment i treat myself to one of those coffees. Delicious. They have both hot and cold. I get a hot in summer and a cold in winter. Heaven sent. Peace...

    $1 USD is between $29 - $31 TWD. For best mean currency conversion is $1 USD = $30 TWD. For example for the traditional dessert $60 = $2 USD is more accurate.

    Didn't mean to split hair, but I'm too much a math geek to ignore your price conversion is NTD to Canadian Dollar, not USD. It's $1 USD = $29.25 NTD as of today. Chances are, no one will notice anyway. Enjoy your video as always!!!

    To be honest, that teppanyaki looked awful and had a definite a tourist trap vibe. I'll bet you won't find too many locals eating there and $12.60? They're having a laugh!

  • @TheImmersiveTraveler

    I think the dark colored sweet congee you ate is actually based on purple rice, not red beans. 八寶紫米粥? They do have a red-bean based soup, but I think it's something else.

    NEVER buy any “steak” item from Taiwan street food stalls. The most famous is probably the blow torch steak cubes. From what can tell, the meat they use seems like processed steak using “meat glue”. The cut is round like bologna and i don’t ‘know any beef cut that’s naturally round in shape.

    Love your videos! I always try to get my friends to see your stuff. I really appreciate the representation you give to Taiwan especially since they’re so underrepresented in the international community.
    Are you purely just a food and travel vlogger now? Or are you making ends meet in other ways? I think it would be pretty awesome if you did a series of your everyday life. Even if it’s boring, I think it would show how life is like as an expat in Taiwan.

    I'd like to see a blooper reel! All the food is amazing but there has to be some dishes that just taste awful or things that happen to throw a wrench into things? Keep up the awesome work!

    I enjoy seeing the different cookware in Asia. Very unique. I wonder if the round frozen steak, was bits of meat that is glued together and set into a mold to shape it. The desert looks enticing and so different from deserts in the United States.

    I think the A&W burger with added deep fried onion in Canada is better tthan Taiwanese steamed buns.
