    This video took me months to finally make. Partially because of the effort it took, but also the anxiety of how it would be received.
    Is it too long? Is it too boring? Would anyone even make it past the first 5 mins? Could anyone even sit down and listen to my voice for over 3 hours and not want to die?
    But reading the comments left by random people on the internet proves that at least some people enjoyed it. And that means the genuine world to me :)

    Just for reference, the reason Candace Newmaker references were dropped was because the creator started feeling that referring to her and getting "famous" off her was in poor taste and didn't want people to harass her family or link everything with her.
    Take it with a grain of salt as this was word of mouth.

    I think Tiara/Belle’s story of abuse and recovery is layered under Paul/Care’s.
    Belle grows up (to a point) with the family, despite not being considered family by some of them. The relationship between Belle and Rainer seems benignly antagonistic like kids are to one another - Rainer had to get one last shot in about her not being family, but offered her some “comfort” in pointing out that he’d be gone by the time she accessed that. Although, given the blamey language immediately following, I think Rainer may have held Belle responsible for what was done to Care at some point. Jill clearly doesn’t consider her family, though. Paul, however, trusts her and is more open with her than anyone else, plus her reference that they left the family as kids together at the end. Belle also seems to have a depth of understanding about Marvin that Rainer doesn’t, and her own copy of Petscop (I’ll come back to this).
    I figured, since we’re not given a timeline for Anna and Marvin’s relationship, that Belle was probably either Marvin’s daughter from a prior relationship that Anna later formally adopted or a genetically-unrelated child that he and Anna adopted together before Care was born (I picture Belle being older due to her proficiency in the Petscop recordings and more complete picture of the family dynamic prior to Care’s abduction). Either way, upon an adoption being finalized, the child’s name is often legally changed, making her, legally, Tiara Leskowitz.
    Either way, she was a victim of Marvin’s prior to Care, as demonstrated with her knowledge of the Septet, presence in the room in the school and at the rebirthing, etc. And, either way, I think that, when Anna started putting pieces together about Marvin, she things between she and Tiara became strained and, after Care’s abduction, when her suspicions about him solidified, she could hardly look at Tiara (due to guilt and misplaced anger), eventually coalescing in Anna sending both Tiara and Care/Paul away. (I’ll come back to this later.)
    Tiara has her own copy of Petscop, likely from Rainer himself. I think she’s the one who’s been making some of the changes/keeping things up. She is the only other person who demonstrates an ability to change or hack the game itself. She can modify textures, likely drew her own character’s face (unless that particular bit was another dig at her by Rainer), and clearly has a good bit of knowledge about the more hidden aspects of the game (including her own egg and locker combo).
    Which, by the way, the odd perspective in the school is the closest I’ve ever seen a game get to visually depict the feeling of dissociated functioning. Sort of third-person-in-your-own-body.
    She’s also either had her copy at a totally separate location than where Paul’s been playing (otherwise, why not intervene when Marvin comes after Paul IRL? Why wouldn’t she know for a fact Paul wasn’t playing from there when she heard the car door if she was down the hall?) for seventeen years. She got stuck in the Quitter’s Room and kept it on. Why? Because Marvin’s been playing the whole time. She couldn’t let it go either. Was he going to the Quitter’s Room and taunting her on occasion? Trying to re-establish contact? Something else? Was she the one tweaking the AI for Care/Paul trying to fill in information?
    Either way, I think Tiara and Paul were able to move forward together.

    1:14:35 There's a girl laying on her bed, looking behind her (at I think a person?) in the dark. I'm not tripping about this, am I? And is that a distorted face in the upper corner??
    1:25:16 Again.
    1:40:02 And again. seems you always see it when entering the house.
    1:57:36 Even here, when entered through the menu. 1:58:07
    2:17:14 Those are the crayons from Cares room.
    Eh, just some fun little things I noticed.
    This series always grinds my gears when I revisit it, even after seeing it numerous times. I'm sure even now theres stuff we have yet to notice or put together. :)
    Also- WOW I just realized how little interaction this video has gotten! As lengthy as it is, it was really well put together and comprehensive. I know its been a few years, but I had still expected a Petscop video of this caliber to get a bit more attention. Surely the algorithm must have been cruel on you, good sir! Welp, keep up the good work, or don't, no pressure.

    For me its strange,weird,unsettling how much of petscope reminds me of my own past and how i see this time for myself. Maybe it sounds weird, but somehow as if Petscope knew the version of myself from back then and is able to bring the way/ this kind of feeling into its episodes, not all, but so many things in my memory always looked and felt similar disturbed. this rediscovery something terrible had happened with oneselve and knowing something was up and not right and in hiding all the time in the back of my head and this suffocating feeling in fear of it. If it was intended by creator or not, or if this Care->Paul transformation is just one of some versions how the community is interpreting it, but even this change of Care into Paul was the way i instantly intepreted petscope while watching it, and it again resembles my own life so god damn fucking much, even the ages are the same. Like i said previous, as if i saw the whole time a version of myself.
    In the end at least Paul got a hopefully happy ending and closure with his past, and it may sound stupid, but it made me happy and cry in joy, because its something i never was never able to get. Even 30y later i am still disturbed Care NLM and still wandering the newmaker plane like being stuck in a fucking nightmare.

    To make things more confusing, in the epilogue Belle spells out "Lina" when she says "boss" (dialogue controller inputs are phonetic so fans were easily able to decode them). So how is Lina the "boss" and Paul's new mother despite dying as a 9 year old?

      Hey can answer this question with I made up comment section you can find it is new but alternate realitys is my theory and I think Lina had travelled to Paul world and became Paul mother and that why the rebirthing didn't work on care because it need do on Paul but the two have same personality but each one is in its own world and that why didn't work on her he need lean so to work not her sister and I think lean was going to die by Marvin but she escaped by deminsion hoping into Paul world that why windmill disappeared it traveled into the other world that why Marvin want to rebirth lean to kill her before she tell anyone her story you need check my comment for more understanding of what I'm saying see ya

      I think its possibly meant to be metaphorical. Linas death caused the entirety of this to happen. She is, in some way, the “boss” of Petscop as a final boss in a game is usually the one responsible for all thats happened in it. Of course this suggests Belle views Lina as a villain which would be odd but I think that whole final videos meant to be abstract. They’re a ‘family’ because theyve all been victims of Marvin in some shape or form, and this is what bonds them. the whole story is about a cycle of familial trauma repeating itself. the game has caused trauma and is a metaphor for it as well.

  • @slimeinabox

    I like to think that Rainer made an algorithm that emulates users that play the game by recording button inputs.
    It creates a psychological profile of the player that eventually mostly perfectly emulates that real person.
    The demo clips are the AI, while Paul's recordings are the real person.
    At a point the difference is obfuscated by Paul narrating during demo video, while not narrating during gameplay.
    At that point we lose track of which is real and which isn't, and as there are now AI copies of: A criminal, A victim, and A witness- the game starts to predict the future by having them interact.
    In the game Marvin found Paul and the Real Marvin found the Real Paul at the same time. At that specific point the game and real life line up perfectly. We see events happen in game, but those same events are happening in real life at the exact same time.
    As far the story is concerned after Marvin character finds Paul's character in the school and Paul reveals his location, the game and real life are the same.

    very sincere THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for including that bit about paul potentially being transgender. (havent finished the video yet, i'm literally halfway through so i'm not sure what conclusion you've drawn yet)
    one of the major reasons i got into petscop initially was because of the trans paul theory, i resonated with him a lot and came to the conclusion [of my own theory] that he was trans and experienced dissociative amnesia because of it.
    a lot of people don't mention the dissociation side of being transgender, and thus rule out paul being trans entirely in their theories because "why doesn't he remember himself?"
    it probably means so much to thousands, including myself, that you brought it up AND did research, even if it might not have been a lot!!! it was so so so refreshing to hear you discuss the heavy topics with full respect and an educated mind. thank you.

      @@MiaWater YES!!!! petscop is meant to be ambiguous and viewer-orientated but i've always found that a lot of petscop theorists tackle the series with the idea that there has to be a cohesive story, or that there is one at all. youre the first if not the only person ive found covering this series that has stated its your personal interpretation.
      im so happy u discovered yourself, it isn't an easy journey but stuff like this support and being seen in media absolutely helps, even if its not an explicitly stated plot point
      on a separate note, this video is beautifully put together and will forever be the analysis i send to my friends looking to get into this series from now on. it's captured my attention in full (the fact im very enthusiastic about petscop might have a lot to do with that) but its also explained in a way that makes *so* much sense. you talk about story things with enough simplicity that it doesn't take away from the 'plot' but rather explains what you think is going on without *overexplaining* it. youre the bestest ever & i hope you're doing good!!

    the vibrating green object seems to be a pile of chains
    after paul makes the knocks, it... sort of? sounds like he's rustling the chains
    if the chains are only one of the possible "tools" that hurt people when the playstation is on, it would make "you can stand up now" make a bit more sense
    (other vague possibilities include the game itself, the controller, or a literal piano tuner that was at some point used to punish a particular child by stabbing them, creating awful memories that the game is supposed to fix but did not)

    On the topic regarding 'gender dysphoria', that isn't what is happening. This is closer to Dissociative identity disorder. Victims of abuse might adopt a whole new persona as a result, and in some cases it's possible the gender of that persona can also be different. Gender dysphoria is a very different thing and can not be inflicted/caused as a reaction to trauma. Just to clear that up. ^^

    I'm so happy I came across this video, I never really comment on youtube videos but I had to for this one and can I just say "WOW!" the effort that has gone into this video!!! I've watched MatPat's and Nightmare Masterclass' video on Petscop but your one is the best by far. It was perfectly edited, you reading out the text and the way this video was put together is so so good. There are so many questions that I now have answers too- thank you!!
    I'm trans myself, and I can semi-relate to the idea that Paul disassociated from his childhood/being Care because I can't truly remember aspects of my childhood when I was a girl. I didn't go through was Paul did (at all) but I experienced bullying and mental health stuff and just not a great time, I can remember some parts but not like fully. You handle this topic well (thank you).
    As someone else in the comments stated, I'm not scared when I think of this game anymore, sure there are some scary moments but, as you say, it doesn't rely on jumpscares (apart from Marvin just randomly appearing at times and Belle/Tiara appearing suddenly in the quitters room when I first discovered this series). I'm just happy that Paul found out who he truly is and found his true family :]
    I've been obsessed with this game for the longest time and I generally want to get a tattoo based off of it all

I do wanna point out real quick though that the reason Marvin checked the control settings was because the controller wasn't working properly for him and when he checked he noticed that he had to use the left arrow to turn right and vice-versa which is another reference to someone being confused about right vs left. Ok so I have some issues with the particulars of your timeline. Before I get into criticisms, I want to clarify that any and all theories about Petscop are going to have holes, even my own. This is because the in-universe game of Petscop only has a fraction of the information, Paul only play through a fraction of that, and we only see a fraction of Paul's playthrough. We see a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the story. That being said, your timeline has some issues.
    1. You said that Marvin hit his friend, Tina, with his car. Tina was nine at the time, so unless Marvin was just casually friends with someone seven years younger than him, I kinda doubt this. Resolvable if we just assume that Tina is much older than Anna and that Marvin was really there to hang out with Anna. Also don't get how hitting a Windmill with a car just makes it disappear into thin air, or why Anna took a second photo, but that is taking Rainer's word as actual gospel which I probably shouldn't do.
    2. You say that Michael found out about Marvin's crimes, and so Marvin ran over Michael. As far as I can tell, there is zero evidence for this. This is in no way impossible, but I've always personally believed that Michael died an unfortunate death not at the hands of Marvin, since Rainer almost certainly would've acknowledged that he killed Michael in the "hi Marvin" thing.
    3. To my knowledge there is no evidence that Rainer helped Care leave the basement, and though it certainly is not impossible, I would think that Rainer would include some sort of reference to this event.
    The rest is pretty good overall. As someone who's been massively engrossed in Petscop for six years now, I really like this analysis.
    I would like to add that I've never seen someone connect that the child library indicates that Care was put up for adoption. That makes so much sense and I really do like this idea. That explains a lot about not only Care/Paul, but Belle as well.
    The Paul is trans theory doesn't hold up too well (I write this as someone who is trans and has dissociative amnesia). It, again, isn't impossible, but It's never been my favorite. I've always believed that Marvin accidentally rebirthed Michael into Care's body instead of Lina, hence why Paul's room in the child library is Care's face with Michael's eyebrows.

    2:47:00 The link system being wireless is basically impossible unless Rainer was also handing out modded PS1's with the game that had some kind of magical WiFi, pre-WiFi. What's far more likely is that the 8x rooms in the Garalina facility are the only place you can actually play Petscop (being the only places with the required hardware ala linked PS1's + Needles Pianos) and Martin was in one of other ones (likely being kept there playing the game by the family) but somehow figured out how to escape. The amount of time between him saying "Here I Come" and physically getting to Paul is so short to make any other explanation practically impossible.

If anyone ever asks me about this game and it’s content + story I would direct them to this video. You must genuinely be the only person here who has tried to go through this game up to the tiniest detail. Thank you so much!!

    Amazing video :D Definitely one of the best long Petscop videos I've watched :>
    One tiny issue, though! I don't know if this is 100% correct, I saw in a different video that when Belle talks about the "boss" character at the end of the soundtrack, the noises actually correspond to the name "Lina". Because of this, I think it is possible that Lina somehow did not die at the windmill and is actually the character you refer to as Tiara. I don't really have a full explanation as to how this would work, but since in this series it's always hard to tell what's really real and what's just a metaphor I don't think it's full out of the question.
    One other small thing I think I pieced together: When Anna tells Michael not to shake the present she got him, I imagine there could be an animal in there. A puppy that later got hit by a car, maybe? Not really that important, I just thought that made sense, I guess. Also tbh loved that you bullied Marvin for being a boomer

    I don't get how this has so little clout, this video is great! You got some great takes on the whole story!... My only problem is with your view on belle, in the game she's refered as Belle and Tiara, Reiner Says "I was over-eager before and started calling you tiara" inplying they are the same person (Also if Belle meets Paul and also the Game AFTER the game is ready and Reiner is dead, how could Reiner know so much about her? Qnd the same text implies she went through the Rebirth process but did it wrong.
    Still great video tho, i've been listening to it while i work ;)) keep it up like this bro, this is a great vid

  • @ohfrickitsphil
    @ohfrickitsphil ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Also your theory in the end falls apart, mate. The "boss" you see at the end of the soundtrack is Lina from behind, not Tiara. I don't think Lina is actually dead. Overall, you glossed over some things. It was a good attempt at explainging the story. But so far I have not seen anyone to come up with a convincing story. It's frustrating, since the creator of Petscop even said that he withheld certain aspects of the story, so we might never know what was happening 100%.

      the AI theory is just AWFUL, and it's a symptom of the fact that Petscop fans just can't seem to remember that the family channel is itself an unreliable narrator, being edited by the family in post. every single instance of the """AI""" can be given less 'supernatural' explanations that doesn't massively detract from the story being told. again, the AI explanation is just a cop-out, representing how the fanbase just can't think out of the box like Petscop expects them to

    it was nice hearing someone else come out of this series with the interpretation that paul is a trans man and not immediately have that idea discounted. i've seen people say that this interpretation is harmful for whatever reason, but as a trans man myself, i think calling it harmful is more harmful in and of itself. gender dysphoria can come from many different places, and to call this interpretation harmful just because the gender dysphoria emerged from abuse is more harmful than anything else and may make people whose own gender dysphoria stems from a similar experience feel isolated and like their identity is fake, less valid. of course i'm not the end all be all on trans stuff, but neither are other random people in the comments section of petscop videos lol. this interpretation may make feel some people feel heard and represented, and i think more than anything that that's wonderful
    super sorry for the long comment! your interpretation lines up exactly with my own, so i was feeling a bit emotional and passionate. this is by far my favorite video breaking down petscop. very concise and well documented, it really helped me understand some parts of the story more as someone who is really bad at parsing information lol. regardless of the interpretation, i'm sure we can all agree that seeing paul finally set free to be with his real family and live his life was cathartic and the best note that the series could have ended on

    • @jolynejoestar2106
      @jolynejoestar2106 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i personally only saw people saying it was a "harmful" interpretation because "it didn't had intent behind it". which is, yeah, a shitty argument anyway

    • @Cooe.
      @Cooe. ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think the take is harmful, I just think it is canonically wrong. Quite a bit too much projecting and not enough concrete evidence.

    • @jolynejoestar2106
      @jolynejoestar2106 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cooe. The only thing the trans theory doesn't explain is Paul's dialogue being replicated in the game years before it actually happened.
      Petscop seems to be about a person remembering and understanding their traumas, having a happy, healthy ending with a found family that helped him heal. Paul being trans man helps this interpretation because this way he feels completely disconnected from Care until you put the pieces together

    • @Cooe.
      @Cooe. ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jolynejoestar2106 The trans theory doesn't explain LOADS of things. If Paul was trans, he would ABSOLUTELY know it even if he had completely dissociated from their pre-transition memories. No F2M surgery ESPECIALLY will give you anything resembling "real junk". Any human would instantly know it's not the real thing. Paul would 100% know without a doubt that he used to be a girl which directly contradicts MULTIPLE pieces of canon lore. Care and Paul might technically be the "same entity" but I don't think it has ANYTHING to do with literal gender dysphoria (though there could definitely maybe some broad thematic allusions to that topic) and instead has everything to do with Martin's "Rebirthing Machine" that he was utterly obsessed with trying to build & use.

    Hey I have theory that is way much better and answer few questions the alternate reality theory and there are alot of stuff to prove it like why in the birthday house there conversion about care talking to nobody just wall walking like she avoiding objects on her way and Walking to a door closed door thinking it was open how is Paul having conversations of care speaking to a wall in his BIRTHDAY and to there was puzzle where you need to open the demo and normal game up to beat where in normal there door closed and way to enter the room is to open the demo go same place go back normal game walk to the door that will input action in demo to enter the room that is werid you need to think the door is open but is not like care I think that Paul and care are same but two different begings in alternate reality and where is windmill is just disappeared in a thin air where it go I think it went to Paul world with lean inside it and I think Marvin has his own game and had a same person in Paul world like when he ask Paul where is he Paul show him his room he said he is coming to him how i think marvin has find a way to be in both world like he found a way to control his altra ego In Paul world and mode him enter I think it's Paul aunt because he talks about her like werid person bad person in family always want know what Paul finds in the game like collecting information about him and I think she one who enters his room dose I don't know but is bad and terira and her counter apart in part where Paul talking with her on phone and terira show up I think terira try stop Paul to countine the story by the car and I think her counter part doesn't realise that and now the the demonica tunes that Marvin use to rebirth care because she looks like lean but is that mean Paul looks like lean dose that mean when Marvin wanted Paul because him and care would transfer into one lean I think Frist time didn't work because he just had care but need both because as he said care is lean and Paul is lean and one last thing what happened to lean I think she split into two when Marvin killed her at windmill one is Paul and other is care and I think marvin split two into himself in care world and the aunt Paul world
    Ok but there one last thing how and who Rainer I think Rainer is same person in two realities why because he know all Marvin bad and know Paul family dark secrets how he achieved this I think through petscop the game was a lend where to realitys talk to each other and I think started Mike death he died in both worlds one is Marvin doing and other one is by the family I don't know what they did to him but made Rainer very mad so this game was made to make both worlds pay what they did but something went wrong Rainer have bean dead dead in both world he may sudoku himself and there points showing that but why he before killing himself didn't bring anyone to justice like it was planed I feel the family and Marvin had did something to him to do this maybe kill him and then why I think Rainer has cracked the code he got evidence in game but they stop him before showing to the higher ups in two worlds and now they work to find the eveindens noticing each other at Frist but one find the other out Marvin and now trying to use game as a rebirthing please without the family knowing

    Also, this video mostly MASSIVELY ignores the real world PS1 connected Needles Pianos and their critical importance to the story... There's a reason there's one in literally every single Garalina testing room. When the characters are shown "playing the Needles Piano" they are LITERALLY playing on actual physical/real-world devices called Needles Pianos which are directly wired into the PS1's playing Petscop (via a controller port).

    I think your take on what happened in 1977 is mostly bang on though. IMO this video is a smorgasbord of legitimate narrative breakthroughs (many of which haven't been majorly touched on before) along with some personal opinions pushed due to confirmation bias and deliberately ignoring any contradictory evidence or stuff you can't explain.
