The weird thing about this is that when I drive around GTA 5s map and then drive around GTA sa sa feels so much more bigger whereas in GTA 5 I feel as if I'm constantly finding myself around the same places over and over again. For example when I drive in GTA5 I feel that I'm always either in or near the hood or on a highway that leads to the desert area. But in san Andreas it feels like there's more locations like the hood, city, suburbs Forests, and deserts.
True, SA has very distinctive areas.
Same feeling here, wish we could have gotten a couple more settlings in GTA V, it's still great tho
It's the way the roads are set up. In GTA 5, you basically have a straight shot to the top of the map. But in GTA SA, you have to drive all through the winding countryside roads. That and the different cities and environments.
That is bcos this video creator compared difinitive to gta v instead of OG gta SA vs GTA V
GTA 5 roads are pretty straight and simple, its designed to get from one end to the other quickly. San Andreas on the other hand took a different approach, and its map was designed to have bendy roads that make it look like cities are much further apart
GTA 5 map has mountains that takes up close to 70% of the map, so the reason why SA map feels bigger is because It's way more diveresive. 5 lacked the canyon, desert and deep forests, as well as the many countryside towns and multiple cities.
Its mainly due to technical limitations. the engine simply could not handle anything larger. If they were to include san fierro or las venturas the cities would be smaller like in GTA SA.
Also, even in real life theres tons of mountains surrounding LA.
A whopping 45% of California is full of mountains

it wasn't only due to engine limitations , but hardware limitation for consoles ,at the time.
Also keep in mind that most tricks/ techniques for long render distances , textures etc... , were not that advanced ,technologically speaking.
As a developer, i am impressed how they managed to build such a large and detailed map for that time and an hardware such as the Playstation 2.
It's incredibile to think about it, isn't it?
@@RuthsDev71 Hey, now tell me then, is the full map possible now in 2024?
@@aravindmuthu5748 you can keep your sarcastic ass outta here .
Actually if you compare OG version to definitive edition's map, OG version looks bigger than definitive since the developer remove the fog that conceal the far away areas that may make it looks smaller
Still very impressive for a 2004 game.
From gta sa we learn that map dosent need to be extremly bigger, but make average map that have diffrent npc, building, and tradition. It will make that map looks so big,
Gta san andreas map feels more alive
nah
@@uhsir9852 How old are you?
@@zyadstorm how does this relate to my comment?
@@uhsir9852 Answer it
@@zyadstorm why?
Seems like R*'s third largest map after GTAV and RDR2.But with this draw distance and engine it looks even smaller than GTA IV Vanilla at least visually lmao.Jokes aside yes the map is roughly a 6x6km square,in GTA V you can see this by downloading San Andreas map mod or just using the stats as a reference point but i'm quite surprised how tiny it looks in Definitive Edition.
Did you happen to do one for gta 4’s map vs gta 5 and San Andreas?
Yo bro, nice job but what's the length of the GTA V's map from los santos to Mt chilliad ? you only showed the city size
Here’s the island measurements photos.app.goo.gl/v1AirAzbewDK9eTV7
@@TheEMP1978 Thanks
The GTA 5 map feels really small... Today I played this game for the first time and after 5 hours of playing I have the feeling that I have seen everything. This is probably because of the ring highway, and I also sorely miss small villages(
Or maybe it’s because I played GTA SA as a child and because of this, exploring the map took me a lot more time...
Gta sa has more skycrapers
Agree
How GTA SA is 79 squared miles when you said it was 14.36 mi. 2 ??
The 14 is just the land while 79 is everything within the game wall the ocean & land
@@TheEMP1978 Yeah, no wonder why I am 20 and don’t know math. Thank you 😅
gta sa's map is bigger than gta 5 because gta 5 has only los santos but gra sa has los santos an two more cities
This is gonna sound really mean but how in the hell do people continue to repeat that and think it makes sense?
Define how many miles or kilometers a city is? They don’t have a number to city is not a measurement system for area you were literally were demonstrated that GTA5 is much larger if you don’t get the numbers just looking around on top of maze bank should really get the point across to you.
That’s stupid
@@TheEMP1978 think he's meant to say gtasa map feels bigger than 5 because I won't lie, gta sa map does feel bigger and if I didn't know the map size and had to guess which was bigger I would have said gta sa
It may feel big but thats got nothing to do with los Santos or any other city of the Sate of San Andreas . It has a big portion of countryside are ( about 2.30 miles or maybe bigger ) missing in the San Andreas map , like the mountain ranges and the sandy shores area
@Anshsyyssaao no
Gta sa definitive edition making map look small
Gta SA has a better map layout compare to 5 which is feel bigger than V but in reality its not
Lol yall just not exploring all of 5 maps. How many of you go past sandy? Thats only half the map.
You the man, also, who are these hot chick's who needed what you got?
The must be some spam about to be thrown out
only thing that makes gta sa and gta v map similar is the view of the big countryside(gta v's country side is bigger[extended])
and the mount chilliad
literally both the countryside are awesome though gta sa is better in the forest area
looks like there is no big diff between the games upto mt chilliad
fact : the map of gta sa has no ocean boundary
You are comparing a rat with a cat! Lol😂!!
One problem. Rockstars measuring system is completely bogus. Yes San Andreas is actually bigger.
There’s no evidence of GTA San Andreas being larger than GTA5
Sa is a better map
Bro you are just wrong
Then explain how GTA San Andreas is bigger than GTA5
