I'm so happy for you all Todd, Neenee and Mina. May all of you be blessed with good health, prosperity and Happiness always, 🤗. You got me going Todd I've owned an 1997, 80 series station wagon for 15 years now. Anything more than a 2 inch lift, is unnecessary. Any higher requires steering geometry change, any tire over 33 inch will require gearing correction, so components don't break. My advice, be practical, even one rear diff locker, drop rear tyres 15 psi, you will go anywhere, I do!. Theres not much need to drop front tyre psi as it makes your steering very heavy, if totally stuck, all four tyres will handle down to 15 psi, in sand mud etc, 20 psi is normally plenty. Fit a small air pump under bonnet, lots of uses & can pump up the tyres again. In rocky dry or wet mountains, you can drive for hundreds of kms if necessary on 30psi front and rear, makes it very comfortable on passengers, and saves a lot of suspension wear. Can't beat a troop carier 4.2 diesel fantastic motor so simple i have a 1999 landcruiser 4.2 ute so reliable 16k not bad that is what i paid here in Aus Congrats on getting parental care of Mina she is so happy and Nee Nee and you will make great parents second time around for you .Thai and lao kids are so bright and happy all the time my mates wife is a teacher near Udon Thani and the kids absolutely love Farang

Wow, Todd, those 4x4s that you were looking at look amazing! For what you want, i.e. something rugged with plenty of space, the first couple were ideal, especially if you had some more comfortable seats fitted. Mina is now very much part of the family. How is her schooling going? Is she still as enthusiastic about learning? She is certainly a character. Have you checked to see whether she has webbed feet as she loves the water so much? Lol Hi Todd! This vid just made me fall harder for my niece. Her constant energy,,,mugging around. I think out walking about every 10th step is a dance or skipping or comedy routine. I was laughing my head off with her as she was watching herself in the water. The kid can definitely laugh at herself. I'm glad for you and Neenee that Queen Mina is a happy benevolent Queen! Lol not really any Queenly pretensions about her. I love the fact she loves to hold onto you both. Its definitely a good, special thing. The food court is a top dog winner! Love it. My furby advice,,dont think for even 5 seconds about that fucked up,,fordish,,indian Landry disco! They are shitstorms. That thing would leave you stranded. You dont really want a huge lift and huge tires. You definitely need Good tires,,like Goodrich all-terrain knows,,no more that a 2 inch lift and 33 inch tires. That's about what I have on my Chev Tahoe. At 88, dad can easily get in and out. I haven't met a mud hole or 15 inchs of snow or mountain or desert back road it can't handle. I stop and turn around like you did a couple videos ago. I'm in the process of getting different bumpers,,one capable of a 10,000 lb. Winch in front and a rear that can carry a tire. I've been doing this for nearly 50 years. Got my driving permits in winter the day I turned 15,,had saved my money and paid cash for a brand new 76 Dodge ramcharger,,was about a thousand less than a blazer which is what I wanted. My patience had ran out,,and I got a good deal on this rig. It truly taught me crapton about fourbying. Especially winter ice driving ( it ALL about the tires),,about getting myself unstuck. You won't be doing insane stuff with the girls along anyway,,,,soooooooo no damn discos,,,no giants designed for mudbogging only ,,most roads you drive are easily done in 2 wheel drive,,but you definitely need 4x4 when you need it. Another thing to consider are selectable lockers front and rear, you can get one for the rear of the radio but only limited slip for the front. And the best lockers are the good old Aus brand,,,ARB. You pay a premium for ARBs and other companies are getting closer. I do know quite a bit about this subject,,,and until recently I had about 25 years worth of 4wheeler magazines I could refer to. They quit printing the mags,,5 of them I believe and a couple have gone digital. And 25 yrs of mags is just a huge waste of space.😂 I'm excited for you,,trying to get a little more offroad worthy rig. I think the 78 might be the right one,,just a bit of custom seat in the rear.. it does need to be super comfy for Mina,,as the ride in the rear of older land cruisers is kinda between horrendous and shit. That silver Cruiser was cool looking but you are right you'd hit something, like a kwai! As I near mid-50's I can't imagine being a parent again to a young one, but it's clear how much Mina's amazing personality has lit up your lives. Enjoy! We had to put off our trip to Laos this fall until sometime in 2024 unfortunately. Really miss being there.

Mina is a very lucky little girl to be adopted by euy NeeNee and her husband. Not a lot of kids have this opportunity.

I just sold my Winona, my Toyota 4x, that was my daily driver for 37 years. Could no longer keep her up. She is a serious off-road rig. I changed out the gears in differentials to use the larger tires. Gave her just below stock gear ratio. Spent 15 years as a desert hermit with her.
It's easy to install a swing out loading ladder/step for your women folk.
Your cinematography is becoming exquisite. And, as always your music choice more than works for me. My most favorite videos are of your countryside travels and the village people. My old service dog, Dharma, is also blind now. He's almost 15 and we are now each other's service animals. A red Queensland Heeler, my 4th one. You tell NeeNee that this old monk from the Carolinas noticed how pretty she looked in this video. And Mina is blossoming in her heart and mind. And I've always wondered what the rest of the tattoo was. I think the dragon is great. I've always wanted a Chinese dragon across my back in color.

They make these tents , half hard top , when you open it a tent pops out , you can put solar panel on the hardtop, there you have it , camp on the roof
Top/bottom end, differtial and the transmission. Solid doors, level frame are all good. Get a intelligent deal.

I own an 80 and a 100 series here in the US. If it is going to be a second vehicle to carry lots of goods to remote villages, I think the troopy is the best option. Won't be as comfortable but that's not the mission. Just as rugged and good on poor roads as an 80. Did the Troopy have locking differentials? That would be a great addition if it did.
I had same Landcruiser at the 21 minute mark. I miss that vehicle, bought it in Okinawa Japan and then took it to England, sold it there before I returned to the states. Mine was a VX Limited, All time 4WD, I had a lift kit on it and 35" tires. Loved the little refrigerator/ice maker in it LOL. Was such a fun ride

Any vehicle imported is hit with a 100% import tax, so I'd be paying double 😏

Todd, your Laotion has improved outta sight. I have to commend you on the efforts you put into speaking their language. The troopy probably a bit under prices as in Australia they are highly valued in price during covid. Weather looks great..
One of the things I liked least about the Isaan region of Thailand is how they'll cook up a whole batch of fried food, especially spring rolls, and still sell them when they've gone cold. Unhygienic and stodgy. In other areas of Thailand, such as the northwest, they fry everything freshly to order.
That girl is crack up! and very switched on. If it was me looking for a car to do what your wanting to do I would get the troupy with the pop tent on the roof a second battery and solar panel and some sort of fridge, lloking forward to future video's and hope to meet you one day😊🙏

About your selection in trucks, you can't go wrong with a Toyota. My brother-in-law has a Toyota Hilux (not sold in the US) and it is a beast going up dirt mountain roads with huge pot holes. He hasn't gotten stuck yet and it is incredibly reliable. However, if you really don't want to get stuck, you will probably need a winch just in case.
16000 usd ? is a bargain for 70 series - 11 seater
80 series are awesome - most have after market turbo - even a 4.5 petrol is good - nice to have some choices - Thanks Mr T

I don't know, The roads I see you on in the videos the that silver 80 is just what you need. And as far as turning those bigger tires what do think the advantage of having low and high range built into the transfer case is for.
Add a good winch to the front of that rigg and your channel adventures that just left the parking garage. You also commented on visibility. yes and no. You have to pay attention when you are stopped on who's around you but as you start moving you will start to see that being higher up you can see farther a fact you will see when you drive that rig on a trip and come home and hop into the rig you have now.

Be careful I have an Toyota Tundra Off road TRD.. Just cost $ 1200.OO for shocks and front struts.. Yeah I live in California. But even in Laos cost to repair could be an issue.. Fuel costs too.!

I live in a town 100km west of Dubbo. Its all Toyotas out here. The only cars that dont get rattled to pieces on the roads and tracks.

Unbelievably expensive for the old vehicles they are. Hardly any depreciation of Toyota over the years in Laos compared to the US or Australia. Difficult to find a bargain here..
Check out the prices of these vehicles in Aus Peter.. you're gonna be surprised mate. There's a 2+ year wait on a new 70 series 😉

Hej Todd , How much actually in Laos for a used car 4 seats in a "tammada " state ?
I've been wondering what the situation is around foreigners owning cars i Laos, can they be bought, registered and insured under a foreigners name or does it need to be done under a Lao citizens name like so many things. I might be moving there in the near future and trying to assess how big of a headache getting things sorted will be.

So I was wondering why would they be selling cars in Dollars? Isn't this Laos? Imagine we in the US selling our cars in Euro. Our US customers would be up in arms. Here in the US we don't play that kind of games.
I never said they were selling in $US, I gave you the price in $US. In all my videos I give prices in $US because 50% of my viewers are from the US. Now if I said 511,563,011kip.. how many people do you think would understand that? How many would get an idea what cars are worth here?
